Two shower curtains are in the shower stall with a sit down stool for the shower and I'll sit down or posted area for the sit down area in the into shower. Nice touch. Clean, operated washers and dryers are available in both the men's in the ladies room and you can use your cell phone and a smart phone app to pay for services. Nice touch. We note some derogatory comments about the attitude of the owners, but in our experience, nothing could be further from the truth. Put yourself in their position watching a wide range of RV travelers coming in and out all day long. If you do, so, you can imagine they'll see some excellent visitors, many, run-of-the-mill visitors, and some are to put it in nicely less than desirable. They see it all in our experience. A little engagement on some humor goes along way, and we found them to be delightful. Go in the joy. This is a nice campground with clean well appointed facilities. Go and enjoy. Note: our Garman GPS did not take us to the right spot or the right entrance. We ended up on the opposite side of the Dan river at a private residence. If you're using your Garman, use Google Maps instead to find this place that's what we did..

I'm not really sure what her purpose was or what she's supposed to be doing but she interrogated my family the entire time. She kept asking us how many people are supposed to be coming and kept saying "this isn't the place to have a party." She butted into every single conversation we had and was breathing down our necks the entire time. Literally every time any of us used the trash can, she changed the trash like she was annoyed we were using it. I swear the trash was changed 7 times in short amount of time we were there. I didn't mind changing it when we were done either. She screamed at one of my family members very loudly over something he said in a PRIVATE conversation he was having with one of my other family members. Mind you, the conversation had nothing to do with her or the lake. She also screamed at somebody else's kids because they were throwing sand. I understand not throwing it at people but there was nobody around and they were just being kids. My family and I did nothing wrong and I don't think it's fair that we were made this uncomfortable at a public lake. We are good people. We minded our business, were polite, cleaned up after ourselves, and even fed the lady because that's the kind of people we are. I understand if we were being rowdy but we were just literally enjoying family time together. Definitely will never be going back to this lake again.

The milkshakes at the snack bar were the best I have in a while. All the Rangers were friendly and knowledgeable. The guided Moonshine Hike was highly entertaining. Ranger Danny wrote a book about moonshine called Corn Squeezins! We purchased one and had him sign it! We found a lot of Fairystones and our son did the Junior Ranger program! They swore him in and gave him a real metal badge! Only thing we would change is the length of our stay! We could have easily kept having fun!

Fairystone, VA State Park is my 32nd VA State Park. This is…read moreone of my favorites! I booked a really nice Yurt for two nights. Has outside electrical and outside water pump. Restroom is a short walk away. The whole backside was open land. The whole left side was wooded. There was a picnic table, fire ring and another water source there as well as a small 4 seat wooden table on my wrap around porch! It was perfect. The trails were quite strenuous at times. Its rocky and steep! I took a 9 mile trail, linking trails together to tackle the Little Mountain Falls Trail. Beautiful views. Sunday morning I was on top of the mountain by 10am! Wooo. My pictures won't show the beauty that it was...but I was in love. Sitting on the porch with my binoculars.. I spotted a big, red headed wood pecker just having a blast out there pecking around. So many birds out there. It was very relaxing. - I brought my iron skillet and cooked up some salmon, zucchini and the $0.97 small cup of mac and cheese from Walmart! Fabulous dinner the first night. - I didn't, however go the "beach" or kayak. The roped off beach section, isn't the same w/o kids but I should have gone kayaking. So much to do. This VA State Park is one of my top 4, so far.

We did a split stay between a cabin and the lodge and both had their merits. The cost of the lodge was well worth the upgrade with the beautiful furnishings, cozy atmosphere, complimentary amenities and soaking tub. Ate at both leather flower and stables and loved Stables the most. Highly recommend if you are looking for a true luxury experience.

My wife and I spent a weekend at Primland in mid-June on our way home from a wedding down South…read more The resort is a bit out of the way. We still had a twenty-minute drive to the lodge when we reached the North gate. The drive was pretty, though, and passed quickly. The circular driveway in front of the lodge was clogged with cars, forcing us to park down the road a bit. No one was around to welcome us, and finding someone took us a bit. Once we did, the valets quickly took care of us, and we were checked in. Our room on the second floor overlooked the 18th green and a valley on the backside of the lodge. It was terrific: large and spacious, with lots of wood and chunky lodge-style furnishings. The bathroom was huge, with a large tub, separate shower, and his-and-hers sinks. The minibar came stocked with complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and some snacks. While staying here, we enjoyed their astronomy presentation at the top of the silo, walking on several trails through the nearby woods, time in the spa, and making smores out back by the fire pit in the evening with the other guests. There was a special cocktail hour with apps and drinks, and a chance to talk to some of the local providers of food and items to the hotel. They do an excellent job of using local sources for the lodge. Dining was top notch, except at the Stables family-style restaurant. The Stables was a disappointment. Our other meals though in the lodge were top notch. The staff at Primland is the best, and they are what make this place so special. Come visit in the summer and enjoy the cooler temperatures of the mountains.

It was my first visit back since the ownership and name change, and I have to say I really enjoyed…read moremyself. The owners were tending bar, and they had an awesome musician and a food truck (side chicks). We went for two flight/tastings, which came with five 1.5 ounce pours of your choice. We opted for three whites (Sauv Blanc, Viognier, and Riesling) and all the reds (Merlot, Montepulciano, Chambourcin, cab Sauvignon, and a couple of blends (including a meritage). They are in the process of releasing a new Monte/nebbiolo blend, which I'm thrilled we were able to try. All the wines were delightful, but I was particularly fond of the mystique (Chambourcin), meritage, and the cab. Good s were vice, friendly atmosphere, and tasty wines to please any pallet await you a Gioia Dell Amore!

Spent a lovely afternoon here. They have a cozy log cabin tasting room where you can taste your…read morechoice of 5 wines for $15. We shared two tastings so we were able to taste 10 wines. There is a large offering of over 20 varieties. One of the current owners led our tasting and gave us detailed explanations of the history and thought process behind each wine. There are 11 wines that were the original Autumn Creek wines and then the new owners have added some new wines and new blends under the label Gioia dell'Amore Cellars. We liked all of the wines that we tasted. Our favorites were the Diamond Girl White & Red Blends and the Embrace Meritage red blend. After our tasting we purchased a bottle of Diamond Girl Red to enjoy on property. Outside the tasting room are a large deck and a brick patio with sweeping views of grapevines, a pond, a waterfall, a gazebo, a covered area and an event venue (where an anniversary party was taking place). It made for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.
