They carry Midori journals, Travelers notebooks with inserts and leather cases. These are items I usually only find in specialty stationery stores in Seattle or Portland. There's also a nice assortment of pens, cards for different occasions, and various journal setups. I even spotted paints and colored pencils, which makes this a cozy creative hub for anyone who enjoys journaling or mixed media. It's clear this shop was created with the journaling community in mind. I completely understand how challenging it can be for a smaller store to keep a wide range of stock when people don't always take advantage of having such resources nearby. D Haberdashery was one shop I am pretty sure I haven't set foot into until recently. There is a great eclectic variety of vintage clothing here and other types of merchandise. Mainly dust collectors really but very intriguing all the same. The real human skull in the display window definitely grabs passersby's attention as you go past on the sidewalk. Not sure if that's for sale since it wasn't something I really wanted despite having a taste towards the macabre. Maybe "too real" I guess. Until I started trying to bring in my own music from local bands that I play in. I've tried to bring in two separate projects from two different bands on two separate occasions. I walked in and politely introduced myself and presented the situation. I said, "I play in such and such local band, and we made some physicals of our last project", and then I'd ask if they'd be willing to sell some copies at their store. The first time, the employee literally laughed at me and said "I mean, I guess", and took out $1 price tag stickers and put them on my cassette tapes right in front of me. The second time, the owner Bryan, didn't even return my hello, audibly groaned under his breath and told me "he's super busy right now". He barely even looked at me, let alone check out what I brought in. I understand if the demand for local music isn't as high as other things. But the way this store goes about turning people away has 100% ensured that I'll never spend another dime here. Whatever they've got going on at this store; they certainly don't care about local music.

They even carry Yankee Candle merchandise. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing I don't like about this location is the policy they have when you return an item. They insist on keeping the receipt, which is a challenge if you purchase multiple items and are only returning one or two items and still considering the remainder of the purchases. I returned a greeting card today and the cashier would not let me have the receipt back. I pointed out that I had another item on the receipt and that I was still deciding about whether or not to keep it, but she said they had to keep the receipt. This is rather inconvenient for the customer, so I hope they will consider changing this policy in the future.

One person's masterpiece is another person's candidate for the junk pile. So don't read too much into this rating. Of the seven galleries/studios we visited, nothing here 'spoke to me.' I ended up making purchases at two other galleries on the tour. It was the largest gallery of those we visited and the artists were welcoming and had snacks for visitors. My rating is based purely on my personal impression of the collection. Again, the largest, but nothing that knocked my socks off. However, collections change, so I would give it another try the next time I'm in town.
