If you've ever driven on Route 156 in Niantic in the spring or summer months, then you know exactly where Smith's Acres is. That giant wall of glazed ceramics in warm hues practically begs one to veer off into their parking lot and get right down to potting and planting. Inside the greenhouse you'll find all manner of plants, herbs and seeds, plus a shop full of local produce, eggs, jams, and condiments. This family-owned business of 36 years has an expert staff of "Veggie Girls" who are always available for advice and direction. Between the bevy of up to date information on their facebook page, gardening tips from Farmer Joe on their website, and a full calendar of fascinating workshops, this place is truly alive.

Knowledgeable leadership, generous with solicited advice. Good, healthy plants that take well.

Teri at Smith's Acres provided flowers for our wedding, and it was great to work with her.

I was so interested in Wren for the longest time, but after sitting down and hearing about a nearly…read more$30k kitchen that's been discounted, to about $10k, but even if we do the Wren installation for an extra fee, that our sink's plumbing and any electrical could not be done without another extra fee, was a total turn off to Wren. We had a contractor to help us with our "unexpected costs," apparently was left in the notes in the profile after a new salesperson reached out to me. But it was not unexpected, as we had our own contractor to do the work before Wren "installed" the kitchen. We really anticipated "Wren Kitchen" could install a simple sink properly (with plumbing) or in this case, a grandiose sink $$$. Unless the installation policies have changed, we will not be seeking Wren now nor in the future. The total turn off for us was when the manager and him both told us that we'd have to hire a contractor or pay them extra money to install a sink fitted to the existing plumbing, that just doesn't make sense to me as Wren is a kitchen installer and every kitchen has a sink.... Also we were told we'd have to pay an extra fee to hire a contractor from Wren to plug in the stove and fridge into the existing power outlets and plumbing. How can a company install a kitchen "apparently," but not plug in a range and fridge? Don't even get me started on the sink, what kitchen doesn't have a sink?

Aisle location also seems to always be correct. Good selection of stuff. Never have a problem finding what we are looking for. Staff is kind and helpful when you need it. My only real complaint is that they have moved mostly to self check out and I'm just not a huge fan of that switch in general. They offer a military discount at this store, but it has to be pre registered to your phone number/account so you can't just show your ID(active or dependent) and get it.
