I was so interested in Wren for the longest time, but after sitting down and hearing about a nearly $30k kitchen that's been discounted, to about $10k, but even if we do the Wren installation for an extra fee, that our sink's plumbing and any electrical could not be done without another extra fee, was a total turn off to Wren. We had a contractor to help us with our "unexpected costs," apparently was left in the notes in the profile after a new salesperson reached out to me. But it was not unexpected, as we had our own contractor to do the work before Wren "installed" the kitchen. We really anticipated "Wren Kitchen" could install a simple sink properly (with plumbing) or in this case, a grandiose sink $$$. Unless the installation policies have changed, we will not be seeking Wren now nor in the future. The total turn off for us was when the manager and him both told us that we'd have to hire a contractor or pay them extra money to install a sink fitted to the existing plumbing, that just doesn't make sense to me as Wren is a kitchen installer and every kitchen has a sink.... Also we were told we'd have to pay an extra fee to hire a contractor from Wren to plug in the stove and fridge into the existing power outlets and plumbing. How can a company install a kitchen "apparently," but not plug in a range and fridge? Don't even get me started on the sink, what kitchen doesn't have a sink? read more

We order 3 items from the Home Depot in Waterford, CT and it was enough for a free home delivery. They only delivered 2 of the items (someone forgot to pull the Hack saw from the shelf) . When we called to get the missing item delivered , we got the runaround. This young man kept promising to deliver it the next morning or afternoon (2 times) but it never came. When we complained he insisted that he'd have to talk to his supervisor first and this supervisor was at lunch but he would arrange another delivery , the young man was polite and apologetic but he was disingenuous . We've never received the item and then when I called the home office , the person answering the phone told us we would have to pay for the item again (or items) and either pick it up at the store or have it delivered and then be reimbursed , nothing straightforward , so convoluted . I mean just arrange to have the item delivered free because we paid for it and that's the end of it. Everyone was polite but extremely unhelpful. We will switch to Lowe's . Big Business's like Home Depot forget about customer service and it's not like when I grew up when small businesses care. We have been loyal customers but no more. read more

A Home Depot is a Home Depot. Their online system seems to keep pretty up to date and we've never had something say instock online and not be in the store. Aisle location also seems to always be correct. Good selection of stuff. Never have a problem finding what we are looking for. Staff is kind and helpful when you need it. My only real complaint is that they have moved mostly to self check out and I'm just not a huge fan of that switch in general. They offer a military discount at this store, but it has to be pre registered to your phone number/account so you can't just show your ID(active or dependent) and get it. read more

Sunday. Most lumber isles closed for a length of time. Needed to buy joist hangers that were right there. 20 mins later decided to leave. Tried to navigate the other end of the isle.....blocked. This place is a mess. You should take lessons from the home depot in Littleton, NH. That store is totally organized. The employees ate at the end of the isle ready to help. Ever since moving to the area many years ago, this had been our place for all things renovation and home projects. So much so, that we are very familiar with the layout of the store. They always seem to have what we need, and staff available when we have questions. This particular visit I had looked online for the item and saw it was in stock in the store and also the aisle location. Needed this as it was an item we had not purchased before. Oh I didn't have enough words? Alright let me start from the beginning: I order a dog house. It arrives on time and as I am opening the box and laying out all the parts, I notice one of the pieces is broken. Called up Home Depot and they said they would send a replacement part and give me a partial refund for inconvenience. 6 days later I have a finished dog house. We eventually adopted another dog and order another house, this time from a different manufacturer. Arrives on time, and the same piece is broken. The exact same piece. Even though we changed the maker and style. Home Depot apologizes and adds a discount, says they will send another one. Two weeks later the new one arrives. I prefer small hardware stores, but sometimes they simply don't have all the items one needs quickly. This store has it all, but it's the staff that make this location even worth a mention. The people who work here should get a raise! They always help, are knowledgeable, and returns are smooth and seamless. Plus, they keep it classy even in the worst situations. On my last visit a drunken man was yelling outside the front door, threatening, spewing mysoginy, and anti immigrant crud. The staff were quick to react when I came inside and told them what was going on...and they diffused the situation so well. "Can we help you sir? Is there a product you need?" When he said no they so elegantly asked him to "ok, so glad you are all set. Go on and have a nice day." And guess what... he drove off! I called Home Depot Waterford to check availability before driving the 25 mins. to buy a riding mower. I called eight times unsuccessfully. I then called the Store Manager directly. He answered right away and with the most 'gung-ho' attitude, personally searched and found the mower I wanted, ordered it immediately assembled and called me back in minutes to invite me to come and pick up! When I arrived at the Customer Service desk, Benny, who was furiously cleaning their work surfaces and organizing the chaos of returns to be restocked, assisted me with open communication. Another 'inspired' lady from Outdoor department made certain that my new mower was brought to me and got it loaded onto my truck. Finally, Home Depot honored a competitor's $100. lower price and I paid that new price. I am impressed by the efforts of the local employees of a big chain store!! read more

I went in searching for patio furniture. I found a set left over from last year on sale for $999. There was nobody working in the garden center. I went to the customer service desk for help and they paged someone who came by about 10 minutes later. He assured me it was in stock and could be shipped, telling me I had to pay at the service desk and arrange shipping there. At the service desk, I was told that they didn't have this in store, but the computer showed it was available for purchase and free delivery the next day. He told me the easiest thing for me to do would be to purchase online and schedule it on my phone. Knowing better, I tried to do this in my car in the parking lot before leaving. Of course, I found that it was not available, more expensive, and not able to be shipped to my address. I went back inside to the same person and told them that my phone showed information different from what he told me and asked him to please help. He looked at me and said, "what was this about again...?" Only five minutes had elapsed. I asked to speak to someone else. Then, his "manager," Jayson, a young, snarky person with a nasty attitude began to yip at me like a small dog. I should have known at that moment it was time to not give them my $1100. Instead, I forged on and tried to make this work. Jayson was unable to listen. He is totally not managerial material, much less, able to work in any position of customer service or in retail with clientele. He was argumentative, dismissive, curt, and overall a miserable person. Somehow, we muddled through the transaction and scheduling delivery once we had it figured out and verified that, indeed, this furniture was physically in the store, available, and able to be delivered. When he collected my payment, he didn't even so much as say "thank you," and he shoved my receipt to me with a surly "pfst!" I paid an additional fee for a specific four-hour window period on delivery day. I received email confirmations and printed copies of the invoice and bill of lading. I was to receive this furniture this morning between 6 and 10 AM, as I was told that it was the only time slot available. Fine. When 10 o'clock came and went, I called the store to inquire. "Dean" answered and looked up the order. He told me, "well, it looks like the furniture hasn't quite left the store yet, but your delivery window period is from 10 AM to 2 PM." I explained that he was incorrect and asked him to please look at my invoice and bill of lading which showed that the window was 6 to 10 AM. He fuddled around on his computer for a few more minutes before telling me that someone seemed to have changed the delivery time and the store from which the furniture was to ship from North Haven to Middletown. I told him that the furniture was always supposed to originate from the Waterford store and that we had verified it was in stock there when I purchased it. Now having spent more money in my time waiting for this furniture than it's actually worth, I had them cancel the order and refund my money. It is astonishing to me the levels of incompetence, laziness, unwillingness to work, inability to complete simple, routine, tasks associated with daily details sales, and overall unprofessionalism I encountered at this store. A huge Home Depot located conveniently next to Crystal Mall. I guess I am a hypocrite because I hate home depot but I still go there all the time. I hate them because so many local small businesses and hardware type stores have gone extinct because of them. I still go to them because damn they have a lot of stuff at good prices. It seems whenever I want to fix something or build something I can find what i need at Home Depot. I even enjoy just looking around the place and getting new ideas. So i will continue to dislike Home Depot but I will still go to them. This particular one is good. You'll find just about anything you could possibly want and it's in a convenient location. I went to find 2 things; a small pair of needle nose pliers and a drill chuck. I couldn't find either and when I tried to find some one to ask for help, there's was either no one around or someone talking on their cell phone. I got so frustrated I finally asked one of the cashiers and she completely sent me in the wrong direction. When I couldn't find anyone not on a cellphone, I just left. It was awful. Oh, Home Depot! I actually love the brand and have frequented many other locations throughout the country, however this one lost my business because of a local store policy. In Home Depot's throughout the land I've strode through the front door, head held high, with my trusty Siberian Husky by my side. I've been greeted with enthusiastic employees bearing dog treats and demanding selfies with my pup. Not here! Here my dog and I were asked to leave minutes after entering. The employee said that somewhere in the mid-term past they had an aggressive dog visit the store and attack someone... therefore all dogs are banned. We went to Lowes and were welcomed with open arms. I'm a new homeowner in this area and will be spending a lot on home improvement... but none here. It's a shame too, your store is closer than Lowes and I actually have a very positive opinion of Home Depot because of wonderful past experiences with other locations. If you change your policy and allow well behaved dogs in your store again; me, my dog, and my money will return... Until then, I'll drive the extra 5 minutes to Lowes. read more

My wife and I purchased a new sliding patio door here and had the Home Depot installer put it in. The door is installed and the best part was the installer who did a great job. The customer service here is terrible and the people who work here don't seem to know anything. The door took a long time to come in and then sat there for two weeks until we called to check. They use a broker in RI who then subs out the work to local installers. They person who came to do the job did not work for the RI company that came out to measure and quote the job so he walked into it blindly. He did not have all the parts he needed and had to leave which delayed the job by 3 hrs. He did not finish until 8 pm on a Friday night. Then 3 weeks later HD called me and told me they still had parts that I needed to pick up for the installer??? I told them that the door was already installed and asked to be refunded because those parts were obviously not needed. I just checked my credit card and it looks like they refunded me $.01. Never again. Buy the door and have someone else install it. You will be much happier. read more

We purchased wall to wall carpeting for our family room from Home Depot in Waterford, CT. The process is that a third party is sent to measure your room and apparently a computer program decides where to place the seam in a large room. Then a third party is taller comes yo put in the carpet following the layout design of the previous party that did the measuring. HD said we should have been shown the layout for the seams when we paid over $2000 for the carpet. No one every showed us or talked about the seam location. It makes sense to place the seam along the least traveled path hidden by furniture. The seams were place in the most traveled path where no furniture covers it. We saw the installers cutting the carpet and by that time it was too late. HD offered us $100 off the price of the carpet but we have to live with the visible seam forever. Next time I will go to a carpet store that is more professional with their measurements, seam location and installation rather than HD 's method of hiring 2 third party contractors to do the job. I do not recommend HD for wall to wall carpet installs. read more

Went to Home Depot in Waterford today to purchase a piece of plywood,among other things today for a small project. I find the particular piece I'm looking for and drag it over to the cutting station, where there are 2 employees, I tell both of them that I would be right back I had to grab my cart, come back less than 30 seconds, both employees gone, why did they think I had brought this plywood to the station and leaned it against the post not a foot away from the saw. So I wait a few minutes, then go to front of store in the hope of getting a page to help me out. I,m standing at the contractors desk in full view of the person working the register and I''m completely ignored.Go back to cutting station, still no one to be found. I'm all done with Home Depot, in light of what just happened to me and also hearing the way they treat their employees. After all this I go to Lowes, and of course the saw is out of order. My husband and I are about to spend over $300 on a patio love seat. The one we wanted to sit in was displayed on the top shelf, and was tied down with a few zip ties. When we asked if someone could take it down so we could sit in it, the answer was that there was no one to take it down and that they couldn't because it was tied down. You can cut zip ties. And there was a ton of employees milling around. I'm not about to buy a $300 love sit without sitting in it. We are heading to Montville Home Depot where the employees are always helpful. Home Depot's service has gone way down. I'm not sure if they won't hire or can't hire but they are always grossly understaffed and the staff they have do not want to deal with customers. Went this evening with a list of items I need that could be found at any hardware store but used to like Home Depot so I figured I'd go there. I needed paint so my plan was to drop that off and while that was being mixed I would do my shopping. The gentleman in the paint department wouldn't acknowledge me and when he finally did he told me I was in the wrong spot for ordering paint. I apologized and moved the 3 feet to the place I was supposed to stand to order paint only to have the paint man keep his back to me and not even say I'll be with you shortly. I waited 19 minutes with his back to me and finally realized he was never going to wait on me. Home Depot I don't need to spend my money there. Lowes has better service and True Value has the best. Made the mistake of depending on the staff here to give me dependable advice. Won't let that happen again I assure you. After talking to the two members of the staff about waterproofing products they loaded up five bags off thoroseal and sent me on my way. They didn't mention they had no idea what they were talking about and failed to sell or mention the acryl additive that is REQUIRED for it's use. With labor and materials, so far its been a thousand dollars down the drain. (literally as we are talking water leakage here) And how about all that computer checkout? Why didn't that key off with a message like "how about getting the required additive for what you bought?" Don't ever buy appliances from Home Depot. Ordered a new oven and dishwasher online. Dishwasher delivered a week late with scratches and the oven had no LP conversion kit. Do you know when you order appliances online from Home Depot, Home Depot really isn't involved. It's a third party company. Finely a man took pity on us and followed us from department to department helping us with our order. We were spending a respectable amount of money, and it should not have been so stressful. Martin D's review from 2011 is still correct. I've been shopping here for over 5 years and am consistently frustrated. The New London Home Depot is simply the worst. They are chronically understaffed. It seems that every time service does get better, someone higher up the food chain must get greedy and staffing is cut back. Last week I had to hunt down an employee to get a price on an unmarked item. When I finally found a person and waited for him finish with another customer, he said he didn't know the price and couldn't get it because he didn't have a HD phone He suggest that I hunt down another employee and ask them if they had a HD phone. Really? Today I asked for the price on another unmarked item and waited while the employee fumbled around on the web site looking for a price. Asking for help in the lighting department, the employee told me to go to their web site (possibly the worst searching experience in the world). I didn't drive 20 miles one way because I wanted to use the web site. I can't comment on the gardening department at this point because I don't even walk through it any more. I've seen way too much plant material that belonged on the compost heap to go there. One bright light is a middle-aged woman in the paint department who really knows about paint and painting.
