I love, love, LOVE this place!! I go to The Herbery every time a I need a little pick me up or just to relax with a cup of tea and one of the BEST SCONES THAT I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Truly, go and get a scone... you won't regret it! The owner, Susan, is so kind and welcoming. She always has a smile and a kind word for everyone that stops by. Incredibly, if you have time to chat with her, you will find out that not only did Susan design the building but she has lived and worked on the property growing flowers and herbs for over 30 years! She is so knowledgeable about a variety of topics. The tea selection is amazing and you can purchase a cup or pot of any of them. The shop is so pretty with an amazing assortment of herbs, garden and home accents, and ornaments. There is a side porch with seating and, in the summer, there are swinging hammock chairs to enjoy your tea or one of the blended drinks on the menu. If you are on the shoreline or even in Connecticut, this is a truly delightful tea garden that is a must visit!

In Old Saybrook on Main Street I stopped by Cafe Toscana for some coffee with my two friends. This…read moreis a tiny little coffee shop that also makes some breakfast options. It looks cute from the outside, but looks like it could use a little refreshment both inside and outside. The outside screen door is hanging by a thread. The man working inside appeared to be the owner. And he was the only one I saw working. There was a woman in front of me, who was waiting for her order. Then it was my turn, I walked up to the counter to place my order, and he immediately said "do you know what you want? I'll take him instead." Referring to a customer sitting down. I just walked over, I wasn't hanging out. I'd say that's a bit uninviting and off putting. I quickly ordered a French Vanilla ice coffee, a hot coffee and an ice tea. There is an area where you can add what you need to your coffee. At the counter there is a sign that says to step away after you make your order. We got our coffees and sat outside. These were actually 20 ounce coffees for $10.00 altogether, so it was a real bargain. My coffee was perfect, flavorful, fresh and delicious! He truly makes excellent coffee here. I didn't like how off putting he was. Starbucks is just a few doors away. I'd much rather support a small business like this one then a chain like Starbucks. Coffee is excellent, I can't speak for the breakfast, there's plenty of room for improvement for the establishment and the vibe inside.

I noticed all of this while I waited for my food and wanted to cancel my order. How clean can the kitchen be? Sorry, the place needs an overhaul.

Had such a hard time finding remotely decent bagels, so every time myself or my family would go down to LI we'd bring back anywhere from 1-3 dozen at a time and free some. This is for myself, my parents, my sister brother-in-law in thier 3 kiddos. So we hadn't been down much since the pandemic and he settled for Bruggers when I used to have to go to Shelton but haven't been to Shelton for over a year. So no bagels since it's not worth it eating them from anywhere else. WELL... OMG!!! This place is phenomenal! They literally taste like Long Island, New York bagels phenomenal. You can actually pre- order on their website.. They also deliver. I don't know if it's them themselves or what not exit 66 off i-95. My parents live out that way so they go and get them. My absolute favorite or the cheddar jalapeno bagels & sesame. They also are a bakery and have baked goods they put on their website and my mom said they had that. Plus they sell homemade cream cheeses. Obviously you can get egg sandwiches and what not as well she said. So absolutely in heaven will be getting them at least 2x's a month. $24 for a baker's dozen which is obviously 13. My mother loved the pumpernickel, my sister and the kids loved everything, bagels. And what's good with the these jalapeno cheddar unlike the other place I got them. It's not a slice of cheddar cheese. It's like shredded, melted and not big round jalapenos but chopped up so good! Good! I found my bagel Place up here finally and you will too if you value good bagels. Only thing not a big deal they are not open on Mon. & Tues. ENJOY!!

Cute space, no indoor seating, maybe a couple tables outside though. They take Apple Pay woo! And have so many other sweet treats that are clearly homemade- the maple coffee cake was awesome. I would go back for the coffee cake alone. They serve ashlawn farm coffee! Which is a slay I love that place
