Since it was a large group, it was understandably a little chaotic when it comes to ordering/ getting peoples attention. It also didnt help that the the restaurant was not exactly the quietest. Our server was not the most pleasant and at times bordering rude. We realized towards the end of our meal that we probably didnt order enough food, so we tried to order more food, but was somehow met with resistance. That was shocking to me. Overall a decent choice for dinner, but there's probably other better options around.

The flavors were good but the prep was a bit inconsistent. Parts of the sandwich was warm and other parts cold. The sauerkraut was not strained so that resulted probably in the temperature difference. The coleslaw was not to my taste. It was super heavy on mayonnaise and light on cabbage. A small bite was all I ate. The service was also below standard. I met a friend for lunch that arrived prior to me. He let the server know that I was on the way that I would place an order as well. After about 10 months I went to find someone who to help. After the food arrived, the server was nowhere to be found. After searching someone at the bar helped me close out. I never received the onion rings despite asking multiple times. Our original waitress never returned to our table, so I couldn't even find out if she ever put in the order. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it was cooked closer to medium and even leaning towards medium well. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to Christopher's.

Sometimes it takes more skill to make something fantastic out of something simple than to hide under a multitude of ingredients.  The quinoa salad was delicious (which I often think is hard to achieve with a salad!), the potato on the fish pie was delightfully fluffy and uniform and the fish soft and fresh. When it came time for desserts my friend and I did not think we could fit much more in our stomachs but with the very first glorious bite of each one, there was an instantaneous understanding that not one bite could be left behind. Sweet but not too sweet, well baked and beautifully matched with their prospective ice creams, the desserts rounded off a perfectly executed meal.    In short, York and Albany may seem somewhat out of the way and unassuming from the outside with a brazenly bare yet loyally British menu but what it served up was what we British say is "bloody brilliant".

We had spotted The Refinery the night before while exploring and headed over. It is a large place with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, we sat inside. I ordered Eggs Benedict, a familiar item I saw on the menu. It was very good, the Hollandaise sauce seemed a bit sweeter than I usually find, and although small, the slices of ham were like real slices and not some preprocessed formed stuff. I could clearly identify the saltiness. An observation, my Benedict did not come with any sides, unlike in the US where you would expect a pile of potatoes and maybe slices of toast. No one topped off my American coffee either, another observation. Service was great, loved the place, and the meal did not take too long.
