    Breakfast tea

This was a nice little restaurant. The atmosphere inside is very trendy! The wait staff were nice. I ordered their breakfast tea and avocado toast with scrambled eggs. It was good! Overall a cute place to have a meal! I would come back but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Visited refinery for a post work drinks with my colleagues. It's quite near where I work and looked more modern and hence different from other joins in around which are more 'traditional' if you could call that. The ambiance is pretty nice, modern and lots of energy but in terms of the fare there is nothing really unique was my view. The standard drinks, the food was not bad and not great too and the staff were friendly. I felt that the space was bit cramped for a large group, which we were. I also felt that the portion sizes were not very generous considering the price (around £20 for a sharing platter, check out the photo) Overall pretty ok experience but if you are looking for someone different from other businesses in and around London Bridge / Southwark then you are better off heading somewhere else.

Stopped in with the boys from the office on an insanely packed Friday. It's no wonder - the sun is out and the Londoners are loving it. I left LA to escape the sun and it has somehow followed me here. Argh. The venue is almost all glass and steel. I suppose they're going for the industrial yet homey feel. It works. It's spacious, too, ideal for hosting large parties. The lunch menu is enormous. From what I recall entrees start at GBP 7.00 to upwards of GBP 13.00, depending on whether you're in the mood for some dead cattle on your plate. Orders are served to you on iron skillets placed atop wooden planks. Cute. The pork sausage with sweet sauteed onions on mash is definitely a boy's dish - it's hearty, hits the spot and, most importantly, an animal perished for it. The coworkers sent for a steak sandwich and some sort of Thai noodle delivered in a brown take-away box (again, the restaurant is trying to be cute with their plating). In all a good lunch experience. Useful tip: reservations are taken for inside seating only. Outside tables are first-come-first-served only and are not serviced by waiters.

Seduced by a tomato. Yes, a fruit called by any other name is still a fruit! This tasty, sweet, drenchingly good friend to us all, had its wicked way with me. Unsuspecting me, sitting quieting waiting for my companion to arrive, unbeknown to me, it came in the form of a pressed delight crowned with the King of the ocean. Caesar was his name and my first encounter was delectable, spicy and seasoned within an inch of its life... Ketel one vodka, clamato juice, tabasco, salt, pepper, lemon juice, celery stick & king prawn garnish w/ a celery salt rim I suggested marrying your Mary to an afternoon sit-in with a paper and some brunch, because even though it tastes like juice it has a cheeky kick that could leave you a bit rosy! If you do nothing else this weekend, try this twist on a traditional Bloody Mary, but don't blame me for whatever happens next.

The Refinery has very recently opened so I was very much looking forward to sampling the lunch on a Friday afternoon. It is a spacious bar with a simple metallic type decor and an all day food menu with an emphasis on organic ingredients. I thought it would be nice to organise a work lunch which I have to say, I wasn't too impressed with. After speaking with the staff on a number of occasions prior to the day, I had arranged for a selection of mixed platters and emphasised that everyone would be quite hungry! On arrival, we had an area reserved but no table and the food wasn't nearly filling enough for the party - most people bought chips on the way back! The staff however are very attentive and friendly and I was really disappointed that the lunch wasn't too great. On an evening, I also feel that the bar lacks atmosphere - as a result of aiming to be ultra modern and chic, the Refinery consequently doesn't have an ounce of character or charm.

Suuuuper cute atmosphere. The food is great and well priced but the ambience is enchanting. Come for the food. Stay for the aesthetic. Waaay more bougie looking than it's priced as.

Like the other reviewers mentioned, it's solid food in the area. My server was super attentive and made sure to come around to check up on me. I sat outside for a leisurely brunch and people watched while enjoying my coffee, scotch egg, and crispy duck salad. I really like the duck salad, the sweet hoisin sauce with the crispy duck and greens made it refreshing for the hot sunny day. Some drink offerings were almost enticing me to order. Maybe next time I'm staying in the area.

Situated on the ground floor of the Blue Fin Building at the corner of Southwark Street and Canvey Street, this new bar is part of the Bankside Mix shopping and dining area. It's bloody lovely to boot with plush, contemporary furnishings (bookable booths), an open kitchen and outdoor seating which was decked out in Wimbledon fauna and foliage for devoted fans to put their feet up and watch the action.

It's located in an old wine cellar (the oldest in London) and dimly lit by candles. If you are looking for a spot that matches the dark and moody London aesthetic and offers plenty of history, this place is perfect for you. I was very surprised by the quick wait time. We travelled in August which is their busiest time of year and the most we had to wait for a table was maybe 10 minutes. This place seems to be a true hidden gem and more popular among locals than tourists. The cheese boards are delicious and just as unique as the place itself. They have plenty of flavors to choose from and have several different options depending on your budget. We went with the two cheese board and everything included paired perfectly with the wine. The staff was great at giving us recommendations and even let us sample several flavors before committing. We loved this place so much we decided to come back our last day for round two. If you are travelling to London, I highly recommend adding this wine bar to your list of places to eat or drink in the city.

Really cool atmosphere with a low cave ceiling, comprehensive wine list and lots of cheese, charcuterie and some other British favorites. We began with wine, rose bubbles and a glass of champagne- unfortunately my champagne was room temperature which is a per peeve of mine but the rose bubbles were served ice cold in a cold glass?! My husband did enjoy his wine! We were asked about food but they never came back so we decided to enjoy our drinks and the unique atmosphere before heading out
