Absolutely great pub. The service here is fantastic. We had small plates of squid, wings and spicy chicken dip. Fish and chips and macaroni and cheese with chicken tenders. Food was really good and was surprised at how good the wings were. Highly recommended. read more

As tourists, we didn't know it was part of the Greene King chain. But now we know! The menu is pretty much the same at all the Greene King pubs we saw. It was fine, but not amazing. We had a 5 year old with us and it was kid friendly enough. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back but not terrible if you are nearby and hungry. read more

I went here to grab lunch, more like bar food. The drinks were friendly, and so were the fries. We had to put our orders in by the bar, which was fine. The lady was accommodating and attentive, which made the experience pleasing. There were lots of seating, and it was not stuffy inside, even with the windows open. They had different specials for drinks and seemed to have regular customers because many knew each other. Tourist beware and look at the menu $ to make sure the short, blinds bar tender isn't charging you £15 for a drink that shows £9 on the menu. My girlfriend asked to not say anything. Cool place better service than Prince Albert where we waiting 20 mins at the table and stood 5 mins at the bar with no one acknowledging. read more

Wonderful stop for early lunch before a day of exploring. We had big fish n chips and a burger. Both were delicious! Bartender waiting on us was super sweet and attentive. Atmosphere was that of a typical pub- great stop during our stay in London! read more

Very typical pub. You will find all the typical British pub foods like Fish & Chips, Pies, and Chicken Tikka, etc... It's warm, wooden, cozy, Televisions around to watch some Football (soccer) and a full bar. I can't say it was anything outstanding, but the food will definitely fill you up without breaking the bank. It is a short walk from Kensington Palace, and may be a good idea to stop here after a day of sightseeing to refuel and unwind. read more

Well, upon nearing this pub, I was a little miffed about the claim to be old. It's in a 60s apartment block for heaven's sake, how old can that be?!?! But as I staggered towards the welcoming warmth, a little plaque outside revealed that there's been a pub on this site since the Roman times. And I forcibly ate my words. Or thoughts, that I hadn't yet vocalised to me team of fashionable drinking buddies. Good pub, I think. Despite its sixties origins, they have made a fairly good job of making it look old, so that's good. You got the standard Who Wants to Be a Millionaire grey computer thing in the corner, slightly denting the historic vibe. And the clientele were a funny old bunch when we were there. After hours of walking around London we were desperate for some good ol pub food. This was the only pub we could find that served food after 3:00pm. Food was fresh, fries tasty, cod was mild and lacked a little flavor, salad was fresh, crisp and delic. Staff was friendly and helpful with questions. read more

Standard chain pub this. Crap music playing somewhere in the background, fruit machines, bleeding ketchup on every table and a crowd of local kids, tourists and everyone else. No atmosphere to speak of really, perhaps it suffers a little from it's position, being in the opposite direction to Portobello Road from Notting Hill Gate tube. They do have a pretty decent selection of beers and ales, the guest ale recently in particular was nice - a Highgate one. Double spirits and mixers are around the £5 mark. It's cheaper and better elsewhere, really. read more

First place we tried in our Notting Hill/Kensington neighborhood. The exterior has been nicely repainted to give the place the feel of a traditional pub, The interior is nicely arranged around large-screen TV, darts, etc. What helped us most was the Irish bar tender waitress who taught me all that I need to know about British ales and suggested we try chicken with leek and beef with burgundy pies. We haven't been back, but it was a possitive experience. For those wanting a pub which has a centuries old tradition or a lot of faithful locals, this may not be it. read more

I like this pub, because it's one of those that provide a good atmosphere but with the air of a local... some of the grizzled men who have been stuck to their bar stools for the last 30 years are still up for giving you a warm welcome. This is Notting Hill after all, so you can't expect there to be a huge amount of rough and tumble pubs. I was fond of the place, though, with a slightly older decor and some friendly bar staff. The next time I come to this little pocket of Kensington - after or before a nice walk through the park, I will come. read more

Came for dinner and had a nice time. Had to have the fish and chips and we got smoothies and ginger beer. The happy hour was lively and I felt like we got the London experience. We were able to jump on the Underground across the street and get back to our hotel. Had to order at the bar, otherwise no problems. read more

This pub is situated on Kensington Church Street and is good enough for a few quiet weekday drinks. Have heard it's not very good at the weekends and to be honest it wouldn't be my first choice but you are always sure to find a seat there on a weeknight evening if you just fancy a quiet one. Otherwise if you fancy a pub with a bit more atmosphere then I would pop over the road to The Churchill Arms. It will probably be packed but it's a better pub with a great atmosphere. Have only eaten here once which was last year for a Christmas meal I organised. Let me first state that this review has completely nothing to do with the food or drink at this establishment. My wife and I were visiting London recently and were looking for a place to have dinner. Since this was close to our hotel we decided to give this place a try. When we entered the restaurant there was no host or hostess. I saw a woman who appeared to be a waitress that worked there who was sitting at a table. She looked at us but didn't acknowledge us. We assumed that we just had to sit ourselves. Now for the shocking part, nobody came to our table to greet or ask us what we wanted to drink or eat. There were at least two waitresses working there that night buy not one of them came to our table. There was also a man there who may have been the manager that night. He never gestured to either waitress to come to our table. We sat there for about 20 minutes before I told my wife that we should leave. I don't want to say that these people were racists but I got the feeling along with my wife that this was the case. My wife and I are Filipino and Hispanic. All of the customers at the restaurant that night were white. I never thought I would experience this in London since I got the impression that it's a very diverse city. Anyway we're glad we didn't eat there. It would have made me sick to my stomach. read more

They use haddock for the fish and the batter was very crispy. My husband really enjoyed his pie. I've had better TV dinners. Ordered the steak and red wine pie for 13 pounds. As soon as it came out, it was clear that it was straight from the microwave. Veggies were mushy and nasty with no flavor, gravy was watery, pie had two steak bites resembling baby birds knocked out of nest. I only give it two stars cause the beer was cold.
