My criticism is not with Smith's but with its partner Grub Hub. GH was difficult to pin down for a receipt upon delivery. The bill seemed high since the tab for groceries ordered was $222. However, the amount charged was $260. Here's the rub: there was the always interesting Service Fee for $13.18 and a Grub Hub Fee for $6.00=$19.18 in Fees. Tax and Tip combined totaled $18.71. Fine. However, the $19.18 for Fees is excessive. I did call Grub Hub customer service and though the lady was difficult to understand (English was heavily accented) what I got from her listing of costs under the Service Fee umbrella came off as more like the cost of doing business rather than a burden buyers should bear. When using Grub Hub, just be aware that my $222 food delivery quickly became $260. If that does not give you pause, Grub Hub might be for you. read more

We recently moved to St George from Oregon coast where we were spoiled by the availability of fresh seafood. We have struggled with finding a grocery store with a great fish counter. I am happy to report that Smiths at Mall Drive has a great variety of high quality fresh seafood and the fishmonger Tanya is great to work with. My review is specifically for the insticart delivery service. They hire shoppers who do not communicate with you. I have had several shoppers not ask about substitutions, and a couple of them purchased meat that was expired. When I tried to contact Kroger, I was put on hold for an hour, and still no one answered the phone, I asked for a call back, and no one called. When I finally did get a hold of someone and they issued a refund, it was canceled for some reason. Don't shop delivery from Instcart. Its too frustrating, and expensive. read more

I was drooling over some of the offerings, most notably a few store made cheese balls bigger than softballs for $9... wow, they looked great!! I get so tired with people who skew results because of non issues, such as "1 star, out of my favorite brand of x, this one random time." People are exhausting, entitled drama queens. This Smith's is AMAZING! I've never been to a Smith's Marketplace, only regular Vegas Smith's. I was surprised by just how many aisles are here. It's nearly the size of a Target, yet is so clean and well laid out. I ended up buying a ceramic chihuahua for my coffee table along with some other food items. I love that they keep their free Friday downloads at the front so that you don't have to go traipsing all over the place trying to find the item. This place is super clean and I love that they have dinosaur artifacts from the Johnson Farm next door. It's such a nice tie in as many of these dinosaur items come from right where Smith's is now situated. read more

What they advertise on the shelf is not what you pay at the register. The milk I bought said $2.69 on the shelf tag, and they charged me $3.09. The milk was not on sale. Also, with this same purchase I bought 4 containers of ice cream at 2 for $5.00. They charged me $3.00 per container. I checked the sale tag; nothing was required for the deal. When I was leaving the store that's when I noticed the discrepancies. I live over thirty minutes away and was near there so I purchased some food for my family for dinner. I accidentally left a bag which I realized when I got home. When I called about it they said I had to go all the way back to get it refunded. My wife tried to call to speak to a manager and they called her "sweetheart" and spoke condescendingly to her. This was my go-to grocery store until the last 2 separate incidents I had. My daughter came down with something, and as I was about to leave, she had the urge to throw up (my daughter is 4). Luckily, I had an extra produce bag that I opened right away, but unfortunately, a little bit got on the floor. Of course, there are no paper towels or anything near the area to clean it up. When I rushed to the register, I let the young woman at self check out know and asked if she had anything I could clean it up with. She replied that she would let her manager know. When the manager was told, she made a rude remark along the lines of "this should be fun" with an attitude. When my daughters father replied to her with "you can just give me the supplies and ill go clean it myself" She changed her attitude and said "that's what that machine for over there is for." So.....you complain when you have a robot that cleans it for you?? I hope this woman has no kids because, poor kids. I ended up leaving two bags of groceries because I was trying to get my daughter home. I called to let them know and reassured them I would pick them up the next day. I went the next day to retrieve my groceries at guest services where I had the PLEASURE of being helped by Terri(dark-haired, older, heavier set woman), NOT!!! Whoever hired this woman needs to be fired, too!! I always say, if you're miserable at your job, quit! Go find a more miserable place to work! I am super disappointed. Today was my granddaughter's first birthday. I ordered flowers and a balloon to be delivered to her. After most of the day passing and her not receiving the flowers, I contacted their customer service. I was told that the flowers would not be delivered today and was asked if that was communicated with me. It was not. He said that the order must have gotten lost in the shuffle. Terrible customer service extremely rude employee at the self check out today implied I was being rude by scanning my items before another person had finished clearing at the very end of a long belt . They had a long line, and I did not realize the belt was going to move with every single scan. I began scanning before the person in front of me was completely cleared away. When telling her I was offended at her comment and that I had already talked to the gentleman and apologized she told me " to let it go "instead of apologizing for offending me. I've had several issues with spoiled dairy products (from different refrigerators throughout this store) that aren't past their expiration date. Last time it was spoiled milk, half & half, and gourmet cheese. Today I found provolone that is covered in mold a month and a half before it's marked expiration date. Who is "In Charge" at the Smith's on Mall Road? I'm not a Smith's shopper, in fact I am rarely the one buying groceries. However, I was driving by the Smith's on Mall Road around 6PM tonight and decided to pick up some ice cream. Sounds quick and easy; that's where I was so wrong! The store is laid out well enough, I found the ice cream in the freezer section near the center of the store. It was on sale! $2.97 rather than $3.29 or only $1.97 with a digital coupon. Even better, I'll get two! So, I scanned the QR code on the sale tag and began creating an account, filling out screen after screen of personal demographic information including verifying my phone number with a one-time passcode. After at least five minutes (I'm not kidding), I was beginning to think that this digital coupon wasn't worth it, but I was finally on the screen where I could "Clip" the coupon. But rather than presenting me with a coupon, the text just changed from the word "Clip" to the word "Unclip." Now what do I do? Time to check out. There are three or four people with very full carts in each of the two full-service lanes. However, the store has a six-unit, self-service checkout by each of the two exits. Self-service didn't have a line, so I asked the West-end cashier how to redeem the digital coupon on my screen. She looks thru her notes, but didn't find anything helpful, so she sends me to the other end of the store. So, I ask the East-end cashier the same question. She takes my phone and spends several minutes searching and searching their website for the digital coupon. No luck. After a few minutes, she starts to scan the ice cream with plans to just override their system with the discount. By now, I've given them all my info and invested too much time and effort into registering with their system and obtaining the digital coupon, so I don't want an override, I want to know how to use the digital coupon. This is their system, not mine, but she simply doesn't know. So, she tells me to go to stand in the now even longer full-service lane to redeem the digital coupon. My frustration with this broken store wells. It literally can't be this difficult. So, since there is no one in line at customer service, I figure they can help me out. Wrong again! This woman is even less knowledgeable than the other two. So, I ask for the store manager. Guess what? There isn't a manager on duty. She will have to take a note and he will get back to me. No wonder this store's clerks are uninformed, there isn't anyone in charge except the woman at customer service and she is utterly clueless. So, I go to the full-service checkout and wait at least 10 minutes for my turn just so I can ask if this cashier can help me with the digital coupon for some ice cream. Finally, the answer, I just need to _give my phone number_ at the end and it will find the coupon associated with my account. Seriously! What was wrong with the other two cashiers and the woman at customer service that they didn't know this simple solution. Then things got worse! The ice cream rings up for $3.29/each (remember, it's supposed to be on sale for $2.97/each without the coupon). She then asks for my phone number which brings the total down $1.00 to $2.29. I said, that isn't right and showed her my screen where it clearly shows that total price with the digital coupon should be $1.97. She pulls out the weekly ad and confirms that it should be $1.97, but then she pulls out a calculator to determine that she needs to manually reduce the total by $0.64 ($0.32/each). Unbelievable! Is Kroger running a scam or is this just wild incompetence running amok at the Smith's on Mall Road in St. George? What if I had lots of digital coupons? Everything rang up full price until the end of the transaction when the screen finally said that I saved $1.00 using the digital coupon. If I hadn't has such a simple transaction, I would never have realized that they were overcharging me. If I shopped at Smith's all the time, those overcharges would add up quickly. Most people couldn't keep all those values in their head when processing a cart full of groceries. Makes me think that they are intentionally trying to trick people, showing one price by the product, and charging another price at the register. Has anyone else experienced this type of bait and switch when shopping at Smith's? Is this a common practice? If I were a regular customer, I'd be tempted to call a lawyer and get a class action lawsuit going. read more

The store itself is 'okay' .. but the bathrooms are 'universal' and absolutely FILTHY... I wish I were exaggerating... but it's basically covered in pee and smells like straight up feces. I finally wrote this because after several times of visiting this store (I go to the restroom a lot especially with a young one) I figured it may just be a one time issue, but it's not. We come to Smiths Marketplace at least 2/3 times a week to eat. The food court is disgusting. The lady at the self checkout just sits there and does nothing to help with the dirty tables or making sure the utensils, condiments, and napkins are full. You'd think with a company as big as this they would have someone oversee this. We have to wipe our tables down for ourselves while the "employee" sits there. There is one guy, Nick that does amazing and when he is on those registers the place is cleaned up for people to eat on the tables. But the o e lady needs a different job!!!! read more

So, here we are in a pandemic and the number of Covid cases has shot up since Labor Day and even though masks are required at Smiths, no one is enforcing it. I was there today (Sunday) around 3:30 and half the customers are walking around with no masks. I thought I'd go visit the manager and say something, but when I walked to the service desk, there he was with the mask pulled down below his chin. Then I'm checking out and he's walking around with it below his chin, walking up and talking to cashiers. Seriously? No wonder the customers don't think they need a mask. Also, the sanitizing wipes were empty. Do you just flat not care about your customers or do you think the pandemic is a hoax? Harmon's has it way more safe in their store. If you're looking for a phenomenal grocery shopping experience look no further. I love shopping at Smiths and so does my two year old! In the entrance to the store they have a dinosaur which he loves. He gets to ride in a car shopping cart and pick out a healthy treat in the produce section. The store is always clean. I do all the cookin' in our home. My wife shops the BIG Box for the basics and I shop SM for the specialty or main course dinner items needed. I'm used to their selections cuz I always shopped their sister stores back home - King Soopers and City Market. Thankfully, if you start in the cosmetics and drug area, you can stop in the clothin' area for walkin' shoes and athletic attire before trekkin' through useless hardware and miscellaneous crap on your way to real food. This review is for the sushi station inside Smith's. I ordered a spicy tuna roll to go with the sauce on the side as I live further away from Smith's and didn't want my sushi rice to become too soggy. So, I politely asked "the sushi chef/guy" to prepare it for me. I specifically payed attention to being polite with him as I know how "special orders" can be pain in the ass. Well, the result was cold ass rice, spongy cucumber, no avocado. I felt he had an attitude about helping me out. Very rude, not caring person. If I could choose 0 stars I would. Calling customer service is a joke. They don't listen to you, instead they talk over you. They won't reverse charges to your card. They credit your account, for your next purchase. They over charge your purchase. They don't refund tips, if the shopper is awful. They don't refund damaged products, even if the box was already opened. They don't answer their phones when you try to get in touch with them for days, so if you request certain refunds, it's to late. It doesn't on the store app you only have 24 hours to reverse certain charges. If you try calling Instacart, the company who does their deliveries, they will tell you to call Smith's, or other stores they work with. Both companies give you the run around. I'm not going to order directly from Instacart, because they don't have in store prices. They charge you double than the store does. So, I'm making a review of both companies in this review. Don't use the Smith's app. You have to pay $100 dollars a year, for free deliveries on the same day, for both companies. Otherwise it's $9.95 a delivery. When you pick a delivery time, it doesn't get to you until hours of the delivery time. Better order very early in the day, if you want your delivery on time. If you call Instacart they will say they have no shoppers available. If you cancel your order directly though Smith's, they charge you for the order, even if it canceled. I've had this problem several times. So I get double charged if I cancel on the Smith's app, and use the Instacart app. Then of course they give you a shopper, if you order from them, just not the individual store apps they already shop for anyway. Smith's, and other stores use instacart, but don't order on their individual apps, you won't get a shopper, unless you order from that company on Instacart. If you google rating for Smith's and for Instacart, they are barely not even 3 stars. Why does anyone use these apps anyway. read more

We went there for the first time, me and my sister. We're shopping and putting stuff in our cart, enjoying the store than we see an employee who totally pretends to be a customer following us around. I even went up to her and asked if she worked here and she said no. (Total bs!) so finally I gave her a nasty look, cause first of all we're doing nothing wrong just buying your product. She finally leaves and later on we see her in the clothing section putting away clothes and her name tag is back on..shocker. This is a new store just built recently and had been open for probably just over a month. We went when they first opened for just a couple of items. But yesterday (8/20/17) we went for a normal weeks worth of groceries. It's was horrible! The first time I've been stressed after going grocery shopping. We are giving them only one more chance and will go on a different day then Sunday. It must've been stupid employee day today yesterday. Our first department was the deli: We had to show the lady in the deli section where the ham was that I wanted after she said they were out. In addition, she didn't understand what shaved was because my Black Forrest Ham so so thick 2 lbs was hardly any slices. And my family hates thick ham. What a disappointment. Then I went to the next Bakery Dept: I asked one of the gals in the bakery department if they had any sourdough bread and she looked at me like what's that and just kind a looked around like she didn't know what I was saying. Omg, We went to the next dept- Meat: I asked Melissa @ the butcher counter for three in a row pieces of skinless chicken breast and she couldn't even handle that. She seem to do whatever she wanted & and refused to even care what I wanted so I said forget it, I'll go elsewhere for meat and poultry. Next problem: My husband and I have looked all over for tonic water and couldn't find it, so we asked a male worker that was just standing there in front but wasn't one of the cashiers and he told me that is probably down somewhere in these 5 Isles. I told him we looked all over there and couldn't find it, and he said that he didn't know where anything was. So we gave up. Before checking out we went to Starbucks and there was one couple in front of us. We ordered and then we moved to the other counter to wait for our name to be called, and you can hear the gal behind the counter making the drinks tell the gentleman that was in front of us that it got so busy here all the sudden. My husband and I look at each other and laughed. There was only 2 cups to be made in front of us. These two Starbucks gals should go & try going to places where they have long lines with many cups for each order & they wouldn't be able to handle it. Then we go to check out and I had to tell the cashier to be gentle to our peaches and bread because I saw the way she treated the lady in front of us items. And the cashier repeated it to the bag guy. Towards the end, the cashier asked if she could put the watermelon on the shelf under the cart. She wasn't kidding, so I had to tell her that it would roll off. We went to put our groceries in our car. The guy who bagged the groceries put a huge bag of oranges on top of four tomatoes. He had several heavy items sitting on the hot dogs buns, and they were squished and we had to go get new ones. And he didn't categorize any of the groceries. I guess that's asking too much. We just thought cheese would together with cheese, not hot items. It was so bad, that my husband said if we go back there from then on he was going to bag our own groceries. There seems to be zero training, and appears that they hired just anybody who applied. Oh yeh, we were all over the store back and forth looking for things, and every time we passed by the clothes department the same two lady workers we thought worked in that department were chit chatting, not doing their job. They weren't even pretending to work & must thought nobody saw them, and after 1-1/2 hours they we were there. Worst Grocery shopping day ever!!!!! The restroom was a filthy mess. They have signs up thinking it's clean, I would hate to see a mess to them. 10/21/17 This is the second time I've needed to ask a question at customer service and both times I've had a rude lady. Today was Ronnee. But she sure can be nice when chit-chatten with the guy workers standing around or the female Manager. Very sad to watch. And since they have opened we haven't had one person bag our groceries half-decent. We haven't had one bagged yet with Comenity sense. Today He put 2 bottles of club soda on top of fresh sandwich rolls from the bakery. Chicken with cookies, and chicken in a plastic bag with loaf of bread from the bakery. Gross and worst move ever. There wasn't one grocery bag that had it's that should had been together. They need training because they don't understand Comenity sense. It should be s no brainer. I placed an order for delivery. It mysteriously canceled. No one let me know. I was ill and as a single mom of four kids who were out for Halloween, I needed the meds I ordered and food for kids. I don't live near this Smith's, but I stopped in on my way to an appointment. I was surprised at the great variety they have in the cheese section, the deli was good, the meat department was awesome. We have a large family, so we usually buy in bulk up the road, but you can't get the kind of variety at a bulk wholesale store as you can here. Floral department was dialed in, produce was great. I don't spent a lot of time in the middle of any grocery store, but it looked like the variety was great there, too. I also haven't had any need for their pharmacy, so no word on that front.
