The old man working on 7/17/22 up front at the self check out needs to be fired. He is constantly rude, an unnecessary unprofessional. I have had serval issues with him. And today he refused my ID because it was voided because I got an address change , however it was not expired, the barcode still worked and I had my paper temporary that he refused to see. I had all valid documents and he was just nasty and harsh. Do better with the people you hire. This store is somewhat close to where I live now so I've been coming here more frequently. I like the selection and the staff is always friendly. My biggest complaint is they are taking away all but five check stands and putting in all self serve check stands. I don't want to check my own groceries and now the lines in those actual checker assisted lanes are ridiculous. Oh and they now offer you a way that you can ring up your groceries as you shop. Smith's and Savemart were always my go-to stores that were close by to my home. Now that Savemart is closed it looks like I will be frequenting Smiths on a more regular basis. They are pretty decent for a small area grocery store. Nice selection, clean and decent prices. It does look as thought they have revamped the produce section here. The deli has a pretty decent selection as well. In the past I was always happy that I could get my low fat or fat free cheese here but this visit I was disappointed that there were no selections to be found anywhere of the lower fat kind. This to me means I will have to be splitting my shopping up between stores to get the items I need. The parking lot here is ALWAYS full and packed and often hard to find a spot. The parking area isn't really very large. The registers were all mostly pen but long lines in each of them. I certainly can't get in, get my shopping done and get back out and on my way home as quickly as I could with Savemart. They do have some pretty great sales when they have their specials going. I will still be doing a large chunk of my shopping here but it looks like I may be stopping off at Safeway from time to time to get my other needed items too. read more

Smith's is my main grocery store and I have been shopping there since the 1990's when it had VHS video rentals. The store has changed a lot but continues to be a place that has a great selection of groceries and low prices. Every week, the store offers excellent new deals and usually all sale items are in stock. Value Compared to other stores in the East Sparks area, Smith's often has lower prices. Having a Smith's Rewards Card is a must and gives you coupons for items you purchase (sometimes the coupons give you free items). Additionally, the Baring Blvd Smith's now has a gas station and you can get discounts on fuel when you buy groceries. Convenience Normally, the store is open 24/7 but the COVID-19 pandemic has limited the store's hours so items can be restocked. This store is located at the intersection of Baring Blvd and Sparks Blvd. The store is very easy to get to and has plenty of parking. Since the remodel, the store's layout is easy to navigate and most items are simple to locate. I do wish the aisles were a little larger, it feels like some have gotten smaller. If you are in a hurry, it's easy to get your items and use the self-checkout. I miss the days of express checkout lines with cashiers but that seems to be changing across all grocery stores. Customer Service The sales associates are very friendly and approachable. I've known some for years now. If you need help, they will respond to your questions immediately. Also, due to the high volume of customers, the baggers tend to be excellent at packing your food. No need to worry about crushed items! On the rare times, I've had to return items, or have been overcharged, customer service associates have helped me. COVID 19 Response and Cleanliness This store is constantly inundated with customers during the COVID-19 pandemic but the staff is doing a great job. This location is stocked very well and now there are more open checkout lines while a store associate ensures customers waiting in-line are maintaining social distancing. Smith's like most stores at the moment, lacks paper products but store reps are keeping carts clean. The store is usually clean but I did notice a bird flying inside 4 weeks ago. I haven't seen it since. Random Details - I think the flowers are overpriced. In my view, Safeway nearby has a better selection of flowers. - Sometimes, shopping when high school students are on break is tough but this is bound to happen because it's across the street from Reed High. - The sushi is delicious and fresh! read more

Smith's is a nice all around bread and butter grocery store. It's a convenient location to my house, and is in a safe area and has a decent selection of most items I need. They have some great sales too. I still don't feel like this is my main Go-to store yet. Before recently moving into the house I'm in now I lived near the South Meadows Smiths location and the Sparks one is not quite what I'm used to. There is no sushi counter, the produce department is much smaller and has less of a selection overall store-wide. The bakery is smaller too, I bought fresh made bread often before. The staff is friendly and helpful. The South Meadows location had been remodeled and updated fairly recently but it was newer even before that. All in all its not a bad store but it would be nice if it was the Sparks Smith's turn for a some upgrades to stay consistent with the brand. read more

2 issues: 1. They're now charging 50 cents for cash back. It's terrible since most of the groceries are way over priced. Crazy when you think about it. Always great service at the pharmacy. Horrible service with management! I made a purchase of an air fryer and when I opened it ,it was a used one and returned and they put it back on the shelf. They could not find the purchase and I used my phone number and when they had me download the app to look at my purchases there were no purchases at all on my card at all! I have been a customer for over 20 years! And recently a pharmacy customer. When I asked why they just told me to call customer service that all they could do was a gift card. I am not a frequent shopper here, but I do pop in about once a month. The store is always clean. The staff at the deli counter and meat department are very friendly. They are more than willing to check on things or do special requests. The fruits and vegetables are always full and there is a good selection of organics. Overall the prices here are fair and cheaper than one just up the street. I've lived in the area for awhile and always just went to Safeway. Not batting an eye to come to Smiths. When Safeway's produce quality went down and prices are so high I started coming to Smiths. Just your average smiths. Nothing special about it. I did however walk in one night pretty late, around 10 or 11, and watched a rat run from the bottom of one aisle into the bottom of the other. The bottoms of the aisles have some type of plastic at the bottom that I think allows rats to climb into & hide. Pretty gross. Shame on you Smith's. I have been shopping at this location for years. My son got hired on as a courtesy clerk...his first job. He went to all of his trainings and did his first shift. The checkers were taunting him, belittled him and asked if he could really handle the job. He was humiliated. My son suffers from anxiety so this was really bad for him. To make matters worse he was told that all training was paid. He never received any check, even for the shift he put in. He did call before his second shift and told them he would not be back...it wasn't a good fit. But still, months later, he has never been paid. Not cool Smiths. If you're familiar with the Baring Blvd Smith's you probably know that they've been undergoing some MAJOR changes over the last couple months. And during that process, it was honestly pretty rough to shop in the store (things were hard to find, out of stock, and constantly being moved), but I stuck with it since it's my hometown grocery store and my go-to. And I am so glad that I did! They've made amazing approvements to the store and added so many amazing products and services (Starbucks, sushi bar, cheese bar, etc). Products are finally in a consistent home and easy to find. And ALWAYS in stock. I'm so glad I stuck with my favorite grocery store, because now it's back to everything I loved about it and MORE! I really appreciate that they assign several associates to the self check outs. This minimizes wait time if you need assistance. The store is clean and well laid out. Looking for items is easy and their large directory makes it even easier. And, when all else fails it is never hard to find a store associate to help. I do have a couple complaints about this location. The parking is not great at this very busy location. Not much they can do but I wish it were better. It's time to update my review of Smith's. They've improved considerably over the last few years., They did a remodel and the store looks better. And last Friday they added Boar's Head meats and cheese in the deli. I don't want to rave too much about Boar's Head. It says something about society when something is made competently -- in this case without fillers and other junk -- that it stands out. But Boar's Head is the best deli meat that I know of in the area. The staff is friendly, too. A few weeks ago I bought some yogurt that was in the mark down bin. I mentioned to the cashier that I would have bought more, but they don't put the mark down prices on all the yogurt they put in there. He ran and grabbed me five and gave me them yogurt at a marked down price. I'm half tempted to take a star away, though, because it's still the red headed stepchild of the local Smith's. The South Meadows Smith's has had Boar's Head for months. They also served store baked bread and they have a slicer to slice the bread. And the mark downs on the yogurt are even greater there. But they're competing with Whole Paycheck. Smith's doesn't have that kind of competition in Sparks. read more

I recently started couponing and am a slow learner. The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable with my transactions I end up saving more money than I thought I would. I shopped at your store in Sparks,NV. I took your feedback survey and expressed my anger at the new setup. The store had 10 self-serve checkouts and 5 that used checkers. Only two checkers were working these checkouts. There was a line of 4 customers in each aisle and each one had a basket full of stuff. I also had a lot and this included ice cream (it was 101 degrees outside). Going thru the self checkout was not a viable option. By the time I got to my car, the ice cream was pretty well meted and putting it into a 105 degree car did not help. If this store doesn't care about its customers, then I don't care about shopping there (I haven't been back since). No one has been back to me since...I have many other stores to shop at and plan on using them. read more

This is the worst grocery store in Sparks. I called to see if they carried Texas Toast (the loaf of bread, not the frozen garlic bread). Spoke to a girl who told me multiple times that they carried it and that it was in stock. She assured me because I told her I was coming from across town to get it. She assured me that she actually saw some on the shelf so I made the drive over. I get there and go to the bread aisle. Literally there's 1 loaf sitting there and guess what, there's a mouse sized hole in it! I was pissed! Come to find out, at 10pm they shut down the registers for the night and expect you to check yourself out, while the 3 front store "workers" stand around chatting about their personal lives. This used to be your neighbor neighborhood market to shop at! It was the one place in the area that provided excellent customer service. Happy cashiers. Great produce. And much more. The sad news is as I walk through the store today after shopping here for over 20 years it is apparent that this is not the case anymore. The store has now been overrun with bad decisions!t BAD produce that generally has already rotted before you even put it in your cart. In addition to that make any purchases in the deli is sketchy at best. Purchasing bread or tortillas can be a risk to within just a few days they will be completely molded after joining you when you're home. In addition to that the dairy areas have lots of expired dairy in them that has not been checked and when you look for someone in the store to help you with your purchase or something that you're searching for there's no one to be found these days. Upfront they replaced all the customer service from the checkouts with self-serve checkouts. And as of this morning at 6:30 AM there was not one cashier working in the store upfront!! This is unacceptable and with all the options in our neighborhood now to shop at this needs to be corrected or they're going to be losing quite a bit of customers. Today upon talking to the manager of the store I was told that he is new and has only been there five days. He is hoping to bring the store back to the former glory that I had. I'm not so sure that's possible. But I wish them the best of luck! In the meantime we will be shopping elsewhere for produce bread and dairy and meat. I guess that's pretty much everything else. I shop here almost every day. I much prefer to shop for what I need instead of buying thirty pounds of cheese that half of which I will most likely waste. The staff is knowledgable and friendly without accosting you at every aisle with a "can I help you find anything?" They are there when you do need help but don't force it on you. They have all your basic needs. But, when it comes to more advanced cooking ingredients, Smiths is not going to be your first choice to find them. Stick to whole foods or trader joes. read more
