Great waterfront access & there is a pool. A climbing tower! I didn't explore too much- there was a leader training I was popping in to show my support for a friend who was teaching the course. She was set up in campsite 8 and unfortunately the campsites need some serious maintenance- poison ivy is overgrown in most of the sites! Fire pits have not been raked and cleaned. In my old council, our Order of the Arrow helped the Camp Rangers every year to clean up and do service around the camps. I have no idea if that is done here, but it needs some tlc. I can't wait to see more of this camp!

It has a sparling blue pool that is next to the beautiful waterfront area and dock. I saw a a chery area and even a climbing wall. The place was well kept up and the restrooms were clean. Great place for fun activities. For the kids and family.

They give a presentation at the end of the week showing off their favorite creations and demonstrating how they work. The advanced campers shared the steps taken to create their masterpieces. Sometimes the robots didn't work and the campers handled the mishaps pretty well I think. The like that the campers were supportive of each other and didn't tease when it wouldn't work. At the end of the presentation they received a metal. I think the kid said if they were there for 5 weeks they would get a trophy. She got 3 metals. Coach K was a great leader and I felt confident leaving the 7 year old at the camp. I like the scanner sign in system. She will be returning next year for sure.

And the guy in the Deadpool shirt said I want some of that, sounding like he was talking about the woman's booty. He brushed it off saying oh she was talking about the kids that is to bad. I am another mom. If I hear this person or anyone else talking like that again while my kids are there I will be forced to find a new gym to bring them to. He did not seem to have kids and looked as if he was flirting with the lady sitting at the front desk. I am utterly disgusted by this. There is small girls wearing skirts, unitards, and other revealing clothing for gymnastics. This guy should not be around little girls talking in this manner.

My daughter has improved so much with her tumbling because the coaches are giving critiques and assisting her over and over again to help her complete a stunt correctly. It was an incredible start to my birthday! They were so mannerly and awesome personality for getting there at 5:30am on a Sunday you'd never know it!! We had the perfect weather and tide conditions for kayaking! They were enjoyable and knowledgable. We each took out a single. They also have doubles and other equipment for rentals. Definitely worth it!! Clearly they know what they're doing. We couldn't thank them enough. Hoping we get to go out with them again sometime soon!! My daughter enjoys going to camp Immokalee YMCA. She has been going for over 3 years now, and she…read morecan't wait to go back. Her first year was at the age of 10. As parents it was supper scary. The campers are not aloud to have cell phones. I thought that would be super hard that we couldn't hear from are daughter for a week but the camp has emails available and you can send notes to your daughter or if you need to speak to your kid they will let your child call home. During Covid-19 the camp handled it like pros. I'm super happy my daughter is available to enjoy going to camp for the summer and make new friendships. Mya we will miss you babe girl this is your 3rd year I hope you have fun and I can't wait for you to come home and tell your story's from camp and the friendships your made this year. Best area summer camp!…read more Camp Crystal, run by the Alachua County School Board, gives Alachua County kids the opportunity to attend a semi local sleep away camp. Area parents will love the shortness of the sessions (Sunday- Friday for one week campers, or Sunday- the following Friday for two week campers.), the short drive there (30-55 minutes depending where you live in Gainesville), and the lower cost (under $600 a child.) Kids will love the beautiful grounds, fun atmosphere, and the awesome classes (kayaking, paddle boarding, water sports, wake boarding, art, frisbee, newspaper, soccer, lacrosse, yoga, and so much more!) Because it is such a desirable summer camp, registration is not easy. Those who have attended a session can continue attending that session without much effort (with just a commitment and later payment) vs others (first time registrants or those looking to change sessions) who must be online at a precise moment and move quickly to try and snag the few available spots. Registering for the first time can be a stressful hassle, but it's absolutely worth it! Once your kids have attended this camp, you 100% understand why everyone is so desperate to have their kids attend. My daughter just completed her fifth year, while my son just completed his second year. Both absolutely loved it! My husband and I enjoyed the short week of no kids life, but loved being able to see and hear how they are doing through the Camp Minder email system, and the photos published nightly. Camp Crystal is truly the perfect taste of sleep away camp for us lucky enough to live in Alachua County!
