They diagnosed the issue as a sensor or similar component, replaced it, and the bill was around $350. I assumed the overheating problem had been properly diagnosed and resolved. Not long afterward, I took the vehicle on a road trip out of town and it overheated again, leaving me stranded. After getting it looked at elsewhere, I was told the vehicle had cracked heads. Being out of town without a nearby machine shop made getting the vehicle--and myself--back home quite an ordeal. Obviously, mechanical problems can sometimes be difficult to diagnose, and I'm not a mechanic. But when a vehicle comes in specifically for overheating, I would have expected more extensive diagnostics, such as a compression or similar test, to rule out a serious engine problem before replacing a sensor and sending it back out. Had the underlying problem been caught initially, it could have saved me from getting stranded out of town and a whole lot of hassle. Based on my experience, I was disappointed with the diagnosis and wouldn't feel confident bringing a vehicle here again for a significant mechanical issue.

The first time I was there, a young driver who was just learning to drive crashed into the front of my car, causing extensive damage. Iron Horse did an incredible job restoring my car, working with the insurance company, and making the entire process as stress-free as possible. They even took the time to reassure my son, who was driving at the time even though the accident wasn't his fault. Their kindness and professionalism meant a great deal to us. Recently, while my car was parked at Gelson's, I noticed a light orange, powdery residue that looked like it had dripped down the side of my car, leaving long streaks. I was concerned that something had happened to the paint, so the first place I thought to go was Iron Horse. The owner came outside, carefully looked over my car, and immediately put my mind at ease. She explained that she didn't think there was actually any damage to the car and suggested they try removing the residue first. She asked their technician, Pudge, to take a look. He came out with a polishing compound and a buffer, and within just a few minutes every mark completely disappeared. I was absolutely blown away. When I asked what I owed them, they simply smiled and said, "Nothing." I was so appreciative that I gave Pudge a tip. Businesses with this kind of honesty and integrity are becoming harder to find. They could have easily charged me for the service, but instead they chose to help me. Their workmanship is outstanding, but it's their ethics and genuine care for their customers that have earned my trust. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else, and I highly recommend Iron Horse Auto Body.

I called the next morning to let them know I really needed to get the tire replaced early so I could checkout of my hotel room (had two rooms). Mark said I would be first up for service. Just my luck, the tire could not be repaired, I figured that because it wasn't taking any air. Unfortunately they would have to order it, but they had a used tire that wouof work. I had no choice and put the used tire on. The cost was only $43 total for tire and service. No price gouging! Suoer nice and honest people. We've been having quite a few issues with our van, and usually we would go to Santa Maria to get it…read morefixed but our van was not in the best condition to drive to SM so a friend of ours recommended this place and, oh my goodness, it was worth it. We got skeptical as we met Jose as he started naming off so many issues but he wasn't just saying what was wrong, but rather he showed us every single thing wrong with the car. I was very impressed and happy, he had us go under the car and look at the issues, he had diagrams to show how the car works, and he did his best to make sure we were not spending so much money. He was so kind, considerate and very funny. My mom and I were very pleased, unfortunately our van was more of a lost cause, but he had gave us very helpful alternatives to keep our van still going so that we're not spending so much money on a brand new engine. Jose is amazing, he listens, and does his best not to scam customers. Definitely would recommend going to him if your car is having issues, he's thorough and very understanding.
