As soon as I walked in, I heard the man behind the counter--who I believe is the owner--loudly making racist remarks about Mexicans. Then, to my disbelief, he used a well-known slur targeting the LGBTQ+ community. I spoke up and said, "I don't like that talk over there," and he responded by telling me to "get a life." As someone who is both queer and part of an ethnic minority, I felt disgusted and completely disrespected. This is a diverse neighborhood, and to hear that kind of hate coming from someone representing a local business is beyond unacceptable. I used to recommend this place. Now I'll be warning people to stay far away. No one should have to experience this kind of verbal abuse--especially not in a space that's supposed to serve the public. There are better shops out there where human decency still matters.
