I attribute this causality in-part to the fact that one of the employees collected my receipt after I spent money at this location. This lack of funds also occurred after I witnessed one of the employees ("Carlos") collect my receipt after the transaction I made on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. At the end of the day, remember this: Republicans have taken control of Congress, managed to sway the ultra-liberal county of Los Angeles, and dethroned Los Angeles District Attorney Gascon from his seat in favor of an independent Republican. Shocked and hurt by hate speech!…read more I've been coming to this shop for a long time and have spent hundreds of dollars here. But after today, I'll never return. As soon as I walked in, I heard the man behind the counter--who I believe is the owner--loudly making racist remarks about Mexicans. Then, to my disbelief, he used a well-known slur targeting the LGBTQ+ community. I spoke up and said, "I don't like that talk over there," and he responded by telling me to "get a life." As someone who is both queer and part of an ethnic minority, I felt disgusted and completely disrespected. This is a diverse neighborhood, and to hear that kind of hate coming from someone representing a local business is beyond unacceptable. I used to recommend this place. Now I'll be warning people to stay far away. No one should have to experience this kind of verbal abuse--especially not in a space that's supposed to serve the public. There are better shops out there where human decency still matters.
