BUYER BEWARE AND BE WARNED- their disposables are knock offs. This type of thing should not be legal. It's so bad they are doing this to customers!! They cheated my husband and I out of hundreds of dollars. We trusted this place and were duped. Don't let it happen to you! Sooo- this is what's going on at Smoke Away... First, I gave two stars instead of one because the staff is friendly. However if the staff is aware they are selling rancid knock offs then I retract that and feel extremely taken advantage of. We would tip these people too. Anyways, my husband and I would come here every weekend and spend about $100/week. Until....the smokers we liked started tasting off. Very odd. So we switched our brand to elf bars thinking maybe WHIFF changed formulas.... and were very happy with the elf bars we purchased. They were totally fine for about a month...Until...once again they started tasting rancid. We chatted about how it didn't make sense that every time we'd find smokers we liked and bought there, shortly after we'd buy them for a few months, they'd start tasting awful. So, we googled why smoker formulas change. We found out that it isn't the company that supplies the smoke shops changing anything, but instead it's the smoke shops selling fakes. It's happening at many smoke shops unfortunately. After learning this, we compared the fake elf bars we purchased to the real ones. The coloring was different, lettering slightly different, and the taste of the fakes were literally rancid. Strawberry cream tasted like spoiled milk. It's truly a shame because we liked the staff here. Also, the prices are higher here....and they're fake. Taking advantage and selling fake garbage is not OK. (I feel like I'm disciplining a toddler with a common sense lesson here). Do yourselves a favor and find a different shop. I bought a lighter it worked the first day then it quit. We brought it back the next day and they refused to swap it for a working one. It's only ten bucks but ten bucks is ten bucks. They say they do not allow returns even with a receipt. What a waste of money and not to mention my time to bring it back. Very poor customer service. We will go to a different shop from now on. THIS PLACE SELLS BROKEN PRODUCTS** Bought a cartridge battery from this place on 8/4 and it came broken, tried multiple times of trying to fix it, the battery itself wouldn't hold a charge and would die instantly after being plugged in for an hour + but I couldn't get it to work so I just decided to take it back the next day. When I brought it back I was told that all sales are final and they don't even do exchanges. Terrible experience here and definitely won't be shopping here again. read more

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. My significant other and I come to this location as well as their sister location not too far away. We go separate and together at least 3 sometimes more a week even with their major price differences in certain products. We do so because we LOVED the customer service and always greeted with kindness. With saying this today's experience completely disappointed me. I went in as usual to grab somethings when time to checkout the clerk asked for my ID, I didn't have it because this certain location has asked for my ID maybe 3-5 times in all the instances that I've been there. Since I didn't have it on me I asked my significant other to go in because she's a bit older then me and has never been asked to show an ID so we didn't think there'd be an issue. She waited as 2 individuals purchased products and weren't asked mind you they were also of a different skin color than the both of us. This prompted my significant other to ask why'd we get ID but no one else in the store needed to be. The clerk stated he chooses who he wants to ID and if we didn't have certain features he'd ask for an ID. He also stated that she could leave after defending herself due to how rude and disrespectful he wanted to be towards her. I then went back into the store to see why he handled the situation like the especially since we're repeating customers and have never had any issue with showing ID when need be. It just didn't make sense why we out of all customers they continued to walk in were the only ones to be asked for an ID. He continued to have the same smug attitude as before so things escalated and this is where is co worker stepped into the situation that had nothing to do with her. She says that since we don't have any wrinkles or gray hairs then they will ask for an ID and that's the company's policy. Which is incorrect because we've been in multiple times without needing to use an ID regardless of how we looked so this was a first. The clerk continued to make smart remarks and stated that I could leave and to be safe once again in a very smug attitude. He stated his manager heard the entire conversation so he felt entitled to act the way that he did. The manager never interfered or corrected his behavior which says a lot on their end. I also made it known that's there's been several instances that contradicted their claim of the "company's policy". The clerk than contacted the Surprise police department and made a very derogatory statement of "she's now leaving since I called you" never stated any of the antagonistic behavior that he had throughout the entire situation. Since I knew we did nothing wrong in the situation we waited for the police to arrive and explained the entire situation. They also agreed that if it's the company policy which I may add is also posted on their window then it should be the same with every customer no matter how they may look. 3 officers showed up and every single one of them agreed with us and also encouraged me to make this review because this employee completely waisted their time and embarrassed us honestly felt as if it was because of the color of our skin and sexuality which is so sad. Again I had no issue with showing either one of our ID but it's not okay that we were singled out of the multiple customers. The fact that I've been going to this place for almost 3 years with no type of loyalty is crazy. All of the money we've spent to now be trespassed due to us standing up for ourselves and they didn't get their way with the police. I hope if you're reading this take your money else where a place where you know you'll be valued in the long run. read more

Bottom line: don't buy puffs from here and don't expect good customer service here either. Go down the street and support a better local business. Bought a puff bar from here and it had a battery that was dead straight out of the box. I understand that Puffs have this issue from time to time. What I don't understand is how bad the customer service is here. The manager claims it's policy to not return/exchange disposables (again, understandable) and that as a paying customer you have to make sure it works while you're still in the store (that part, not so much). There's no visible signage and nobody informed me that you have to literally show them before you leave that it works. As someone who frequents this smoke shop I can't believe that they would let a customer purchase a defective product and flat out refuse to accommodate. Love the store. I'll go out of my way to patronize it. But one word of advice - save your receipt if it's something that may be returned if flawed. I got a butane lighter that worked in the store but it died before I could use it a single time. Took it back 20 min later and the manager gave me a new one but she said this was a one time exception - no more, a receipt would be required although I had literally just walked out the door. She's right, my fault but who saves a receipt for something that's just 4 bucks? I'm looking for a friendlier place. read more

I've been to many shops around my area here in Surprise. This place is more of a head shop. Didn't have a large variety of Vape juices, didn't carry cigars my husband likes. They also charge for a frequent buyer program $20! No thanks. Otherwise if you're into other things, this is a great store... hence 3 stars. read more

I bought 4 Puff vape pens from this store and 1 of them never worked. I brought it in on my next visit in the area which was 48 hours later in order to exchange it for a new one. The manager blatantly refused to honor any kind of exchange. When I asked to talk to an owner about the problem, she refused to give me any kind of contact info for the owner. She actually said the only way to contact the owner is to leave a review, so here I am! The 2 workers said I should have used it in the store to make sure that it works before I left at the time of purchase. They actually said I should've taken off my mask, and hit a vape, in the middle of a crowded business, during a pandemic. That's the only way I could've gotten a refund according to them. And also she said, "I could give you a discount on another one." And when I asked how much of a discount, she said, "like, a dollar". Lol, How am I gonna buy a defective product, bring it back 2 days later when I'm in the area, and they just aren't gonna honor any kind of exchange? What a waste of time and money. It was my 2nd time coming to this store to try a new product, but I'll go anywhere else. I am changing my review based on a Recent visit to Smoke Away. Word of mouth travels faster then most anything else. I purchased a 10.00 Refillable butane lighter from this business. With 7 day use as intended, the lighter clearly has a manufacture defect. Its construction design is splitting apart. No glue, internally, causing it to be of no workable use. As a consumer, I returned to the location requesting a replacement. The manager M.... required a receipt. I provide that receipt using my device direct from my bank. Legal proof. M began to scroll through her PC system and responded back to me saying " I have no TRANSACTION for that amount. Why not? Is a proper response. Please review again. Once again, No TRANSACTION FOR THE AMOUNT. My bank proves a debit, their system shows no transaction. A: AUDIT this business. Earned un claimed income. B: Who else? C: How much? Are we allowing this illegal; if true, to happen? There is a Bureau of Dept. of taxation department in every State. I plan to discuss details regarding this matter. Over a 10.00 dollar lighter manufacture defect. My final decision to invest time for an investigation soley relies from the run around I received in obtaining Surpervisor-Owner. I don't usually write good reviews, but this store is better than the rating implies. Out of the 4 stores I have visited, there are only two I will go to again. This store, and the one in Sun City. The one in Sun City has inconvenient hours. They seem to share the same staff and that is why I will only go to these two stores. The staff is kind, even when the mistake is YOURS. They don't make me feel like I am wasting their time, nor are they in a hurry to push customers out. Thanks for having a great staff... at two of your stores! The owner is wonderful and often will give away damaged goods on top of your purchased items. A great selection of glassware and hookah assortments.
