We decided on this nearby(ish) place for lunch after hiking Looking Glass Rock. It is drive threw only, but don't let that deter you. We waited about 20 minutes in line as the last car that fit into the queue (with the busy road behind us), but it was absolutely worth the wait. I recommend heading over to a nearby brewery to enjoy the BBQ with with a local beer. The burnt ends and collard greens are outta this world! Both are flavor packed and leave you wanting more. If you are sharing the burnt ends, ask for an extra mustard sauce (it comes with one small container). Why? That sauce is so delicious you won't want to share it! I found them at the White Squirrel festival in Brevard. I ordered the combo platter, which is pork, brisket, and two sides. I chose the cheesy corn and bbq beans. My order was called in maybe five minutes. The pork was excellent. Not melt in your mouth like some places, but with enough texture so you get to experience the release of flavors as you chew. The brisket comes in chunks (!) and is amazing. Again, not melt in your mouth, so you get to experience the flavors as you chew. Don't get me wrong, the meat is nowhere near tough or chewy. It simply has the perfect texture to allow you to savor every delicious bite as the flavor expands into your mouth. The bbq beans were some of the best I have had. They have a robust flavor which stands out against the meat but does not distract or overpower. Again, the perfect texture to allow savoring without turning to mush in your mouth. The cheesy corn was fine. I didn't get much cheese flavor and it was a bit runny overall, but that's more a personal preference than anything wrong with it. I hate to think I may need to wait a year until I travel back to the area to eat here again. Can I justify a several hour trip just for lunch? This place was outstanding, the drive thru was quick, they wore masks, and were extremely friendly. I got the pimento cheese sandwich w/ pulled pork, fries and a sweet tea. It was beyond words. The pimento cheese was perfect, the roll couldn't have been better for what it was holding, the bbq sauce was sweet with a tang. The pulled pork for me stole the show, it melts in your mouth and was so flavorful. There's a place where i'm from in Raleigh that i've crowned best bbq for as long as I can remember. So tender and flavorful, probably some of the best I've ever had. Each plate came with a piece of bread, coleslaw, pickles, two types of sauces, and a very generous portion of fries. Let me tell you about these fries!! They are crisp and perfect. I don't know what kind of seasonings they use, but I could eat their fries by the basket until the end of my days. I was dipping them in the Carolina gold bbq sauce and it reminded me of salt&vinegar chips. You have to try them! We also got a couple sides - the collards and the cheesy corn. Both were good. Camping at Table Rock State Park and taking a ride in the Mountains. We found this place on Yelp and due to it's 5 stars decided we had to check it out. It was excellent. We had the pulled pork Tacos and a pulled pork sandwich, fries and cheesee corn. The fries are "coated" which I'm not normally a fan of - but these were really good and stayed hot and fresh for a long time as we drove and kept snacking on them. We both loved the corn but my wife said "a little goes a long way" which is her way of saying it's rich. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the pulled pork in both dishes was cold. Not room temperature, just out of the refrigerator cold. Still - I'd highly recommend this place and hopefully the cold pork was just a one-off problem. read more

We are BBQ enthusiasts with discriminating tastes, and there is nothing we can say about this place that is not great. The ribs were a highlight. Tender, well seasoned, crusty; they were perhaps the best we've ever had. The smoked chicken is smoky with a perfectly seasoned crackling exterior. Very juicy; not dry. The pulled pork was moist without being fatty. It had nice crisp ends and a good smoky flavor without any sauce. The sides are delicious: pickles, slaw, beans, collards, all flavorful and well, freshly made. On top of all of this, the service was super fast, friendly and fabulous--offering helpful suggestions that were spot on. It was such a fantastic experience. Um... yeah. Ordered five 1/2 chickens, five slabs of ribs and five pounds of brisket. Was incredibly tough driving back to the cabin with that mouth watering smell coming from the back seat. The brisket melted in my mouth, ribs were perfect consistency, not fall off bone, but nowhere near tough and the chickens were smoked to perfection. I tried the mustard and sweet sauce, but the meats were so good, it didn't need any. Its a damn shame I found this place on my last day of vacation. Maybe a hint too much salt in certain bites. The sandwich was good but once you know how great the brisket is alone, the sauce, cheese, and even shoestring fried onions are unnecessary.
