This little gem in the Dalles really hits the spot when you want to avoid the surrounding area common fare and fast food. Being a native Texan who grew up having a smoker on routinely with brisket , pork or some form of smoke meat being slow cooked on Texas pecan or mesquite wood each week, I tend to be a bit more critical on my ratings as you simply don't find many good BBQ places in the PACNW but this place does a great job with nice flavor and I liked the jalapeño potato salad and their beans too. I jumped on the spicy BBQ sauce and glad I did. If your coming down I-84 and looking for a place to stop for a quick bite or just to hang out at their food cart and outdoor tables then this place is recommended. read more

Um, yum! Wish I had found you guys sooner. I got the all meat pulled pork and brisket, with jalapeño potato salad and calico baked beans. They make everything themselves, and it really shines through in the amazing taste of this good food. The jalapeño potato salad is amazing and I would highly recommend! I'm on a very limited diet and have problems finding a place to eat at The Dalles. The smoke wring is a fantastic option! I ordered the Asian chicken salad. They were short on chicken so replaced it with pulled pork which was absolutely fantastic! I was so happy with the fresh, tasty and substantial portion of meat. If you are gluten free, sugar free, anything free this is the place to go for tasty food. They have a nice side order option too with any side dish you crave. The owner sent me a message indicating that they will happily help guide me to gluten free alternatives. They have created an outdoor food cart oasis with shade, and good vibes. read more

So yummy! Family visiting from OOT so we all went to Smoke Wring and tried many of the delicious dishes on the menu. Cowboy Parfait was excellent, meat tender and flavors bursting in your mouth. The cowboy chef salad was refreshing and very filling-enough for two person easily. Ribs were fall off the bone tender with great smoke flavor dipped in the spicy honey BBQ sauce became lip smackin' good, definitely well worth the drive from Hood River and will be returning again and again. Prices are very reasonable and won't break the bank for those on fixed income or large family. The outside seating was very nice and clean with large trash and recycle containers centrally located. On the way to Portland I saw this little place off the highway and gave it a shot. I got the pulled chicken sandwich with the bacon Mac for a side and my father the ribs. Everything was amazing. Terrific meat and sides, terrific owners, and a lovely outdoor living room place to eat with warming wood fires aglow. 4 of us each ordered sandwiches. 1 pulled pork, 3 chicken sandwiches. All 4 sandwiches were bone dry, no sauce at all of any kind, about 1/8 c of coleslaw per sandwich. I could not eat more than a few bites because it was too dry to swallow. Another in our party said the same. Its almost too good to be true. This is the best barbecue I've had in the gorge. I'm a brisket man and this great place delivers one of the best smoked brisket sandwiches I've ever had, with friendly smiles and kind manner a la carte. They give a generous quality of perfectly smoked meat, add onions on request, and the beans are the best I've ever had. Go try this place, especially the brisket, while you have the opportunity. Very easy access off I-84 and a great easy stop for a delicious lunch. I had the brisket sandwich with 2 sides, beans and bow tie pasta salad. The brisket had deep smoky flavor and was moist and tender. Next time I would skip the ciabatta roll and just stick with the meat and sides. I chose the milder bbq sauce. It was tangy but good chili flavor. My daughter had the pulled pork sandwich and it was also delicious..smoky and flavorful. Again would have skipped the bread...plenty of meat. Huge servings for a lunch portion...we could have split one. I didn't try it but while standing in line a gentleman next to me ordered a pound of the jalapeño potato salad.
