BEWARE! (The only reason that I am giving SMOKESTACK a 1 is that I am not allowed to give a zero.) Over a year ago they quoted my wife a price to clean out the little pipe/flue that goes from our fake fireplace to the outside: $135 The guy that came to fix it did precious little of value. He took the fireplace logs apart and could not get them back together AND our fireplace didn't work anymore. He said that Zach would come out to put them back together and he charged my wife $250(ish). When my wife asked why so much he said that the difference was for Zach to come back and put the logs together (THAT HE HAD TAKEN APART!) (They really played my wife!) When Zach came over, he seemed in a big hurry, like he had better things to do. He tried to put the logs back together. (Part of it fell off the next day.) He tried to fix the fact that it wouldn't even start after his worker broke it when Zach was done it worked for 3 and a half minutes, just long enough for Zach to get out of our driveway. I called him a day or two later and he acted like it wasn't his concern anymore. I haven't heard from them since. I've never given a negative review before, but I would feel rotten staying silent. while this company rips people off like they do. read more

I got a estimate from another chimney service. I got a 2nd quote from Smokestack Sweep. Zach came to my house to look at things. He came back with a quote and it was A LOT cheaper and letting me know that I didn't need to get the other items listed on the original quote from the other company. Zach and his team came in and finished up in 3 hours! Zach showed me the picture before and after. Explained what they did and why. VERY professional, personable and courteous. Didn't get the creeps or feel that they were doing things half a$$ed. These are the types of guys I would trust with my mom - meaning they wouldn't scam her or do anything shady. DEFINITELY go with with team vs the other big company. This is a family run business so the wait is a bit longer (smaller crew) but viewing the quality of work and the honesty makes up for it. I'm seeing the other reviews about pricing ... Go to the larger company (that's well known in this area) and see how much the difference is..... It was HUGE for me. If I could give them more than 5 stars then I would!!! read more

They really know that it it is an enough to be "just good", you need to be outstanding and personable and build relationships as well !! Ridiculously overpriced. $268 for someone to climb on my roof, snap a photo of my liner and explain that they couldn't do anything other than replace the old liner for $700. The $268 consisted of the above "inspection" plus screwing on a stainless chimney cap that should cost $40. read more

I can't give an actual review because they never returned my phone calls. I called the first day and someone actually answered the phone. Then I had a crisis in the house and had to end the call. I told her I'd call back in a few minutes. I did---less than 10 min later and got the answering machine. I tried a few times later that same day---left 2 different messages giving her both my home and my cell numbers, but mostly I didn't leave a message. I called again the next day and left another message. I called a couple of other times just to see if someone would answer but left no additional messages. She never called me back. They must have enough customers since they don't want my business. read more

In April of 2016, I hired this company to clean my woodstove exhaust flue and chimney. Everything seemed OK, until the young man told me he couldn't pull the chimney cap because he didn't want to climb a ladder without his helper here. So, the cap did not get cleaned at that time. The woodburner had not been used since, until early November, when trying to start a fire I noticed a distinct lack of draft (one of the issues from before the cleaning in April). I phoned Jennifer at SS, explained the situation, and she sent Zak out to correct the problem (the chimney cap was filthy and clogged!). Was looking for a very specific repair.... thus my review We have a high-steeped 2 story house (new home purchased 1 year ago) and was having what we were told was a likely chimney leak. We had a roofer come in and determine our flashing around the chimney base was secure. So must be in the tall chimney that was surrounded by decorative wood slats that were coming undone and apart. After seeing what this company advertised as what they do for others (especially chimney repair at the top) when so many others said 'no thank you'... then these guys came out. First, the communication from them was not good. I did do an on-line reservation and a phone message, but eventually got a phone message to confirm that my app't was correct - otherwise i heard nothing. Then I guess, the person came out to inspect (I wasn't home at the time) and all I got was a very short email saying that they wouldn't be able to do the repair. That's it. Not why... what they found.. etc.. I called and got the email of the person so I could try and find out more.. and finally got a response that said that because of the steeped roof, that he wouldn't be able to do the repair as he was getting older and wouldn't be able to do the repair.... This was soo wierd. I hate leaving negative reviews, but in this case, had to do it. read more

We just bought a house with two wood burning stoves and we wanted to get them checked out prior to using them. Zachary was our tech and he was wonderful. I really can't say enough about how great he was at explaining everything to me. I'm not sure if they are overpriced because I've never had this type of work done before but I feel it was worth it for the inspection, cleaning, and education I gained. It turns out they hadn't been cleaned in several years and were both dangerous to use until both are brought up to code. read more

Very happy with the quality and price of our recent chimney work. Had a leaky chimney due to some old and rotted sealant, and got it patched up and rotted wood repaired and replaced. Also got our gas fireplace working which hadn't been able to start. Will definitely call again for maintenance and repair! read more

This company did a super job fixing our fireplace. Originally had them come out to investigate a leak.....when cleaning the fireplace, it was discovered that our ceramic was slightly cracked. Little did we know that the leak had caused steam to build up behind the crack, and we had a ceramic blow out into our living room! They came out and started to replace the ceramic, only to find a huge puddle under the base ceramic. They took their time trying to find our leak, and made sure the job was done right. A new chimney cap, extended furnace pipe, and new caulk has fixed the leak as far as we can tell. They said they will check on us in the Spring to ensure the leak is fixed. Both workers who came to our home and also the owner who came out were very professional and honest. The price for their extended service, time, and equipment was very reasonable. I would highly recommend them! read more
