Portions are too big! Everyone took something home. I ordered the sampler, afraid the tater would be not enough. My wife got the tater. Both of us took 1/2 home. The tater would have been perfect. Tater: loaded baked potatoes with meat. Balanced. Excellent. Sampler: Ribs fell off the bone. Extra meaty. Pulled pork: perfect. Brisket: meaty. Not enough fat for my taste, but that's better than too much. Baked beans: fine, not outstanding. Fries: good, not amazing. Sauce: only tried the one on the table. Balanced, uncomplicated, sweet enough. Very nice. A great sauce. Clean, but beat up looking place. A hole in the wall, but you're not here for the art. Busy, but served quickly. Attentive service. Short delay at seating for ordering drinks, but then spot on.

Food tasted amazing. I did get it to go and watched the service staff struggle with completing orders while not managing time so I was told 10-15 mins which ended up being 30ish mins wait. The ambiance is nice just slick floors had my shoes sliding around which was a tad concerning.

Located a short distance from the interstate, it is easy to find. There is a large sign out front and ample parking. We were able to find a handicapped space near the front door. The parking lot is paved but a bit uneven, especially near the entrance door, so just be careful as you travel. We waited a minute to be greeted and seated. Seating is mostly booths with a few tables for larger groups. We were seated in the front of the building and there is another seating area towards the middle and near the kitchen separated by a wall. Our waitress took our drink order and returned after a few minutes. We placed our order and then waited about 15 minutes for the food to be brought. We ordered the appetizer hoe cakes but they came out with the main meal. I do not know if this was a kitchen or wait staff issue. The Jailbreaker sandwich is huge and really good. The bbq pork is tender and flavorful. I tried the spicy sauce which was a great addition. Even the fries were very good. While we really enjoyed the food, the service needs improvement. Our younger waitress never came to our table except to bring food. We had to walk into the main seating area to get her attention to bring the check. Our drinks were never refilled, and I had to get the spicy sauce from the waitress station. Our entire section had this issue as our waitress was much more interested in serving a booth in the main area with a couple male patrons. The food may rate five stars but the experience is only a three.

Update to business manager's comments. Underwhelming and 3 stars means average. Bbq was cold and nothing special. I have done reviews all over the world for 16 years. They included many bbq places in Nashille, Charlotte, Dallas, Memphis, Cincinnati, Fort Myers, Atlanta, Louisville and many more cities. You should not serve cold bbq. I should not have to ask your server to microwave it.

Fantastic food and the server we had was the best we enjoyed on the entire trip! Remember to ask about the story of the place - really good to know your supporting this establishment. It's a 5 Star Barbecue place but be prepared for the full ambience. :-)

We stopped in on our way from Tennessee to Ohio. We like to try non-chain restaurants and this one had great reviews so we decided to give it a try. There was a Seat Yourself sign as you walk in. We found a spot and the hostess/server came right over and took our drink order. We both ordered unsweetened tea. It's brewed tea. Yay! The menu has a nice variety of bbq items. We started with the corn nuggets, as some others reco'd. They were piping hot and came with a homemade ranch dressing dipping sauce. Delicious! We decided to split the Jailbreaker sandwich. It sounded really good and the server highly recommended it. We chose the homemade potato salad as our side. As a side mention, The names of the menu items are very clever. The owner used to be a "Smokey". As we were waiting the place really filled up. It's obviously a local favorite. Our food came out relatively quickly. The potato salad was heavier on mustard vs mayo and we like it that way. It was very good and fresh. The sandwich was plenty for us to split. We really enjoyed the combination of the ranch dressing and the sweet barbecue sauce as well as the crunchy onion rings. We would definitely recommend this sandwich! The restaurant itself is a cute little place with 12-15 tables inside but they also have some picnic tables outside. It was a nice day and there were a lot of people eating outside. Since we ate inside I have no idea if they bring the food to you outside. I have to give a shout out to our server, Emma, who was awesome! The place was hopping, but she was right on top of it and pleasant to boot!

Driving from Indiana to Florida and this spot was perfect for dinner. Had good reviews and we were looking for something other than a chain. We were impressed!! We had a moving truck... huge lot with room to move around. We had a small pup... picnic tables outside that were CLEAN and freshly painted. The salad was HUGE and made with good greens and tons of toppings. Onion, banana peppers, tomatoes, cheese, etc. Yum! Luckily we had cooler and able to take left overs. I had the brisket on side with my salad and it was melt in your mouth yum. Didn't really need sauce, but I tried two and they were great. My husband and daughter both got the brisket sandwich with fries! Loved them!

A great find! We were traveling from TN to Ohio and used Yelp to find this gem. Smokey Bears has inside and outside dining. Delicious sandwiches and creative concoctions. I had pig taters. Pulled pork over fries. My son tried his over tots. My husband got the jailbreaker sandwich, beef brisket. Baked beans and corn fritters are delicious. Staff was friendly too! read more

We were staying in London, KY and stopped here after golf one day. Absolutely delish! It smelt amazing walking through the door, we knew it was about to be good smoked meat. We had the fried pickles and the meat sampler with ribs, pulled pork, and sausage. It was all very good and I am picky with my fried pickles lol read more

Absolutely the BEST BBQ I've had. Very delicious and tasty. Service was awesome. Truly a southern personality of caring for the customer and tending to all needs. This little gem serves the best hamburgers in town! Plump, juicy burgers with the usual toppings makes for the perfect traditional burger that keeps me coming back for more. Fries and Onion Rings are crispy and addictive - bet you can't eat just one. I haven't tried the BBQ, but it smells incredible in there. Every time I pick up my burger order, I plan to try the BBQ next time. The burgers are so darned good however, I find myself visiting each time I'm in the mood for a perfect, traditional burger. read more

Ok this is my first time reviewing. I never do this nor do I honestly care to. First of all, the service was great the young lady working at the front was sweet and accommodating. HOWEVER, from the previous reviews I have seen I decided to come. And boy did I regret it. The brisket was OK at best , the chicken tasted rushed, dry and just slathered in bbq sauce to cover up its mediocrity. The ribs tasted boiled then grilled quickly and slathered in sauce as well. Chilis baby back ribs are better. I am an out of towner and came here purely off of reviews I saw and was truly excited to get my meal. I am sorry to write this review, but I wish to give a honest unbiased opinion, so that staff and management see and do better in the future. I don't have a problem with paying 40$ for good bbq , but this was simply not it. The restaurants environment was very inviting and nice. The food was horrible. I wish the best for you all in the future and I hope there is a pit master that will take greater pride in his product. Thank you . read more

Smokey Bears is pretty good stuff. The police themed bbq restaurant is cool with very friendly staff. Their B.B.Q. Is good but you don't get much with your meal. I will however continue to eat there occasionally because I love bbq! read more

Oh my Goodness! This Place was MAGNIFICENT we had the Sampler the Brisket, Ribs, smoked chicken and pork tasted oh so DELICIOUS!!! The Cole slaw is sweet and tasty, the hush puppies was good and so was the fries, they were nice and hot and crispy but not over done! Just a great meal. Found this place in Corbin Kentucky on our way home from Knoxville, glad we did we will definitely be back down for some good food and Southern hospitality, the girls in the restaurant were so lovely everyone was so hospitable. Brisket was excellent! Little peppery on the rub. Husband had the Caroline sandwich that was yummy as well. Friend had pulled pork that she really liked. Hands down the best BBQ in the area. I've been several times at this point and it has yet to let me down. The service is always impeccable. Somehow they have hired the nicest waitresses in Corbin. Be sure to ask for the hand cut fries because they are incredible and so much better than the crinkle cut. I got the Spicy Jailhouse each time I've been (because why mess up a good thing). We are on our way to Florida and looked around for some place to stop for lunch. Looking around on Yelp we found Smokey's Bear's BBQ. The reviews made us stop to try it out. Place is clean, nicely decorated and the wait staff was nice and polite. They have a few big TV's to watch. I think they had 10 to 12 tables to sit at. The menu is packed with things to pick from. We had The Jail Breaker with Tator Tots. The sandwich was big and there was the perfect amount of tator tots. Thank goodness they have rolls of paper towels at the table cause you will need them! The only thing I can say about the sandwich was I wanted more ranch on it so I asked for a side of it. I'm a ranch snob and let me just say, it was fabulous! Our total came to $11.95 for the sandwich, tator tots and two drinks. Not bad at all! Your missing out if you don't stop and try them out! read more

I'm critical of barbecue. Obnoxiously critical. Smokey Bears nailed it. Smokey meat; delicious seasoning, great sauce & ranch; perfectly balanced flavors. Service was fast and friendly. Friendly is an understatement. The sandwich portion was excellent. I couldn't finish the last few bites and started pulling off the bun to enjoy the good stuff. I'm now wearing sauce on my pants, the corners of my mouth are still watering, my fingers are sticky, but the food is well worth the sacrifice. Stopped on my way through town & ordered take out. Questionable for car travels I know, but I couldn't resist my sheer curiosity based on previous reviews. I said I was critical, right? Had to see if the reviews & smoked meat met expectations. Expectations exceeded. Highly pleased. I wouldn't hesitate to stop again and will seek it out in future travels. read more

Some of the best bbq I've ever had. Delicious fall off the bone ribs, amazing corn nuggets, fried okra, and fried pickles. They could tell we were from out of town and we told them we were from Florida and they gifted us 2 bottle of their homemade bbq sauce. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Amazing customer service. Our server (she was a lady) I don't remember her name but she was so funny and seriously the best we loved her. She made our experience one to remember. read more

Smokey Bear's BBQ is locally owned and operated by a former Police Officer. After years of being titled as "Smokey Bear" by the public he decided to carry that name over to his dream of running his own BBQ business and serving happiness on a plate. With years of experience cooking outside, and years of experience of pursuing the perfect BBQ (while not pursing suspects), the time had come to share all that love and passion for good food with the world!

Meet the Business Owner: Barry M.

Barry has loved BBQ since his dad introduced it to him at a young age. He grew up and become a police officer for many years. Eventually realizing that his dream was to make people happy by serving them food you can't get anywhere else around here, the Smokey Bear's dream became real. Today Smokey Bear's is the place to be in Corbin and the Tri-Counties when you want killer BBQ or the best Burger or Catfish around. Every has to be done right or not done at all.

We stopped in on a Saturday evening right after opening time, hoping we would be able to get a table. The place was mostly empty, but WOW was it gorgeous! So much decor, and not a speck of dust or cobwebs on any of it. Looked like a victorian era mansion inside the dining room they took us to. It was all autumnal decor, so beautiful! The place is probably an old department store or something with many different rooms, each with its own decor theme; lots of space for special events. Some families were seated in private rooms. I walked through several of the other rooms and they were all decorated for different holidays, Christmas & Halloween mostly. Although those rooms had a lot of kitschy decor, they were also very beautiful. There were giant carved fireplace mantles, grand pianos, a hall of mirrors, and gorgeous carved wood antique furnishings everywhere. We were coming from a family reunion & a trip to Cumberland Falls, so I feared we would be underdressed (and felt we were a bit), but the staff was very welcoming and we had no problem being seated. Several other diners were dressed very well, and others were wearing jeans and t-shirts. It appears to be a very popular date restaurant, and it would definitely be a great romantic spot for a special dinner. The server was quick, efficient and friendly and made good suggestions. We ordered side salads which arrived quickly and were beautifully arranged. Super fresh ingredients, and delicious dressings. My husband kept exclaiming it was the nicest side salad he's had anywhere, so he was apparently pleasantly surprised. I had the chicken piccata, and my unadventurous husband had a burger. He liked his burger, and ate most of it. My chicken piccata was excellent! The generously sized two pieces of chicken were a bit thicker than usual for piccata, but they were cooked perfectly. Crispy exterior, and very tender and flavorful on the inside. The sauce was a bit thicker than normal piccata sauce but man was it good, and they did not skimp on the capers, which is my favorite part of the dish! It was served over a delicious rice blend which went so well with the sauce and served as a nice foil to the rich saltiness of the chicken. I ate way more of it than I even intended to and was stuffed. As much as we ate for dinner, unbelievably, we forced room for dessert and got an amazingly good chocolate cream cake of some sort which had thick layers of whipped filling between layers of chocolate cake, all topped with ganache. It was like a homemade hostess ding-dong, except way more moist. We ate most of it, despite our full bellies. My husband also raved about this cake, which is unusual because he usually hates things with whipped fillings, but he loved the cake & we had it eaten in no time. Finally, when it was time to pay the bill, it was actually a lot more reasonable than many other places that aren't half as good. Server did a great job. We were super happy with our dinner experience, and both of us agreed that Seasons is a major blessing for downtown Corbin. We will definitely stop in again without hesitation. We walked off our meal by meandering around town in the beautiful evening weather, ending up a block or two away at the pinball museum, so we had a fun date night, all in downtown Corbin!

If you put that along side, some sweet tea, or some southern half-and-half, you've got an excellent meal going on. The service seems to always be top notch. I am not one who likes to sit and wait for somebody to fill up my drink and there is always someone there just doing that. And what can I say about the aura and ambience of this place. It always makes you think about things from your past as you look at the cool decorations on the walls. The only thing is some of those things that are considered history, I remember as a kid. The fat wasn't rendered properly leading to rubbery texture and there wasn't a proper sear. 2/10 The other three of us picked the bowl of potato soup (6/10), Philly Cheese Sandwich (9/10), and Shrimp Scampi (7/10). The potato soup was pretty standard and could've used a little more seasoning. When I took my leftovers home, I added onion & garlic powder, kinders the blend, and salt & pepper and it was perfect! Shrimp Scampi tasted good but the noodles were well past Al dente. Not a big deal for the person who ordered it but something to note if you're a texture person. Dilbert, Dewayne or whatever his name was eventually makes it over and brings every single thing we ordered at once! He laughed and said well here's all your food. The pasta was good, the meatloaf was dry (shocker) and the best thing was the Mac n cheese. $82 bucks in all and yes we did tip. We should have stopped an exit before and gone to Texas Roadhouse. Pretty disappointing.

My family has raved about Smokey Bears BBQ for a long time. Every time I visited Corbin, however, I would eat somewhere else. My son chose this time and decided on SB BBQ--no backing out. I thought it would be a bigger place. It ready is just a small Mom & Pop place. Our server was efficient and personable, and our food was delivered quickly and correctly. The portions are large (as in get a to-go container large). My only two complaints are that the BBQ was cut into large chunks that didn't work with a sandwich (I had to take the sandwich apart to eat it, as did the others at my table). I also wish there was more than one option for the BBQ sauce at the table. Overall though, it is a great restaurant. read more

Literally the best BBQ we have eaten. I had the spicy jailhouse and my husband had the brisket! My husband had a few hard spots on his brisket but said it was super juicy and my pulled pork on my sandwich was amazing! So juicy, by far the best! This is by far the BEST bbq around! The staff are all very friendly and the food is amazing. From the famous Jailbreaker all the way to the warm corn nuggets, you cannot go wrong with this place. We had Smokey Bear's BBQ cater lunch to our facility three times so far. The food is always delicious. The owner and staff are always friendly and extremely helpful. We definitely recommend them and will be using them at our Surgery Center for staff luncheons again. read more
