Portions are too big! Everyone took something home. I ordered the sampler, afraid the tater would be not enough. My wife got the tater. Both of us took 1/2 home. The tater would have been perfect. Tater: loaded baked potatoes with meat. Balanced. Excellent. Sampler: Ribs fell off the bone. Extra meaty. Pulled pork: perfect. Brisket: meaty. Not enough fat for my taste, but that's better than too much. Baked beans: fine, not outstanding. Fries: good, not amazing. Sauce: only tried the one on the table. Balanced, uncomplicated, sweet enough. Very nice. A great sauce. Clean, but beat up looking place. A hole in the wall, but you're not here for the art. Busy, but served quickly. Attentive service. Short delay at seating for ordering drinks, but then spot on.

Food tasted amazing. I did get it to go and watched the service staff struggle with completing orders while not managing time so I was told 10-15 mins which ended up being 30ish mins wait. The ambiance is nice just slick floors had my shoes sliding around which was a tad concerning.

Located a short distance from the interstate, it is easy to find. There is a large sign out front and ample parking. We were able to find a handicapped space near the front door. The parking lot is paved but a bit uneven, especially near the entrance door, so just be careful as you travel. We waited a minute to be greeted and seated. Seating is mostly booths with a few tables for larger groups. We were seated in the front of the building and there is another seating area towards the middle and near the kitchen separated by a wall. Our waitress took our drink order and returned after a few minutes. We placed our order and then waited about 15 minutes for the food to be brought. We ordered the appetizer hoe cakes but they came out with the main meal. I do not know if this was a kitchen or wait staff issue. The Jailbreaker sandwich is huge and really good. The bbq pork is tender and flavorful. I tried the spicy sauce which was a great addition. Even the fries were very good. While we really enjoyed the food, the service needs improvement. Our younger waitress never came to our table except to bring food. We had to walk into the main seating area to get her attention to bring the check. Our drinks were never refilled, and I had to get the spicy sauce from the waitress station. Our entire section had this issue as our waitress was much more interested in serving a booth in the main area with a couple male patrons. The food may rate five stars but the experience is only a three.

Update to business manager's comments. Underwhelming and 3 stars means average. Bbq was cold and nothing special. I have done reviews all over the world for 16 years. They included many bbq places in Nashille, Charlotte, Dallas, Memphis, Cincinnati, Fort Myers, Atlanta, Louisville and many more cities. You should not serve cold bbq. I should not have to ask your server to microwave it.

Fantastic food and the server we had was the best we enjoyed on the entire trip! Remember to ask about the story of the place - really good to know your supporting this establishment. It's a 5 Star Barbecue place but be prepared for the full ambience. :-)

We stopped in on our way from Tennessee to Ohio. We like to try non-chain restaurants and this one had great reviews so we decided to give it a try. There was a Seat Yourself sign as you walk in. We found a spot and the hostess/server came right over and took our drink order. We both ordered unsweetened tea. It's brewed tea. Yay! The menu has a nice variety of bbq items. We started with the corn nuggets, as some others reco'd. They were piping hot and came with a homemade ranch dressing dipping sauce. Delicious! We decided to split the Jailbreaker sandwich. It sounded really good and the server highly recommended it. We chose the homemade potato salad as our side. As a side mention, The names of the menu items are very clever. The owner used to be a "Smokey". As we were waiting the place really filled up. It's obviously a local favorite. Our food came out relatively quickly. The potato salad was heavier on mustard vs mayo and we like it that way. It was very good and fresh. The sandwich was plenty for us to split. We really enjoyed the combination of the ranch dressing and the sweet barbecue sauce as well as the crunchy onion rings. We would definitely recommend this sandwich! The restaurant itself is a cute little place with 12-15 tables inside but they also have some picnic tables outside. It was a nice day and there were a lot of people eating outside. Since we ate inside I have no idea if they bring the food to you outside. I have to give a shout out to our server, Emma, who was awesome! The place was hopping, but she was right on top of it and pleasant to boot!

Driving from Indiana to Florida and this spot was perfect for dinner. Had good reviews and we were looking for something other than a chain. We were impressed!! We had a moving truck... huge lot with room to move around. We had a small pup... picnic tables outside that were CLEAN and freshly painted. The salad was HUGE and made with good greens and tons of toppings. Onion, banana peppers, tomatoes, cheese, etc. Yum! Luckily we had cooler and able to take left overs. I had the brisket on side with my salad and it was melt in your mouth yum. Didn't really need sauce, but I tried two and they were great. My husband and daughter both got the brisket sandwich with fries! Loved them!

We walked in just before closing and yet still received a friendly greeting and prompt seating. Sure glad we made it because it was hard to figure out wether the pulled pork sandwich or the brisket was the best. They were that good and I'm pretty particular about my Q! Being from Texas I always get a kick out of so-called BBQ joints trying to compete. We found this place during a recent visit to the area... holy cow (and pig)!!! It was..... THE BEST BBQ I've had in a very long time. These guys are on point. We had something called Pig Taters, a pulled pork sammich, and some brisket. Wow! I can't say enough about the food options, flavors, presentation, and service (Thank you Ms. Tesla!!!) Even before the food arrives, you'll think "This place is perfect." Their sauce is homemade and is hands-down the tastiest I've ever had. We bought several bottles for the trip home. Almost had to throw out some clothes to get them in the suitcase. Since they didn't have an IV-drip option, I'll be asking them to ship me sauce frequently to get my fix. I can't wait to go back to the area, as this will be our first stop! Great job!!! I live in Knoxville TN and found this location in Corbin based upon recommendations from locals. I have never had a bad meal here and love the ribs and brisket especially. Local ownership and the staff are some of the most gregarious to be found. I drive by at least 3x per month and always stop by for to go orders to feed my family in TN. read more

This place is one of my few local favorites! I've been getting food from here for over 10 years and can honestly say it has never been even slightly disappointing. I typically stick with one of the burgers on the menu and fries, but no matter what you order, you're going to love it. read more

The Jailbreakers sandwich is excellent. My wife had the Carolina and it wasn't nearly as good. Baked beans were excellent, potato salad not so much. Reasonably priced, small tables, would be tough to have a large group. read more

We stopped here after searching on Yelp for a place to eat while we were traveling on the interstate. The waitress came out to our car and she was wearing a mask. We looked over the menu which had several items to choose from. We got the regular BBQ sandwich and fries. The BBQ was good slightly smokey. Portion size was ok. Wish the meat was cut up a little bit more. It's hard to rate restaurants fairly during this COVID-19 Pandemic. If in the area we would return. read more

Bbq is ok, but sides are less than ok and portions are small. Mild "sweet" sauce is actually spicy. Service is good. Plenty of parking. Easy to find off major road near exit off I -75. read more

Smokey bears is a mythical place of childlike wonder. It's a little restaurant tucked into a corner of Corbin, Ky. This being said, it doesn't take away from the quality of the BBQ. I've tried just about everything and just keep going back to "The Jailbreaker". It's a large pulled pork sandwich with onion rings and flavorful sauces. Try it, you won't be disappointed. The people are always friendly and go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of. The place itself is small so that does take away from the sit down experience but I don't go there to review the booth size! read more

The food is good IF they can get your order correct. I go there and it's always a guessing game now, turned into a big joke actually with my friends, to see if my order is correct. 9 out of 10 times my order will be incorrect! I don't know why they can't take orders and put it in a sack. They even repeat my order to me!! It's a huge hassle especially when going through the drive through and finding out when you get home. Food was Awesome! Best Wings we've ever ate! Went to pick up the wing and it literally fell off the bone. Very juicy too. I love sauce but my Husband doesn't and his was juicy too. Pulled up and saw three state troopers' cruisers. We knew it was going to be DELICIOUS! It did not disappoint. Our service was great and the food was awesome. We had pulled pork, brisket, burgers, and ribs. Nothing failed to impress. If you're traveling through, this is a great stop. read more

Two different sandwiches for my friend and I and both were exceptional. The jailbird and jailbreaker were pulled chicken and pork respectively with bacon and crispy onions on a corn dusted roll. Really enjoyed the food. The service was fast and friendly. Only down side was the other patrons- some stupid couple with a small kid sat next to us and didn't care that she was running around and being abnoxious. People can be so rude. read more

My husband and I drove through Corbin for the first time last week and decided to stop somewhere for lunch. Smokey Bear's was the best choice we could have made! My husband ordered the ribs and he said they were the best he has ever had- the meat fell right off the bone and was super flavorful. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was incredible! Super moist and had the best flavor. We both highly recommend trying this place out- it's worth the trip! On top of the amazing food- the service was amazing! Came to Corbin for a business trip and found this place on Yelp. I would give this joint 10 stars if I could. The wings are TO DIE FOR. They aren't lying when they said voted best wings in the county. Buff-a-que sauce for the win. This is a great little lunch spot to grab a bite if you have the chance. Also tried the onion rings and they were perfectly fried, not to mention their ranch dressing.. The meaty sandwiches are heaping. The bbq sauces are delightful and they do homemade. Fries are soft crunch on outside, tender inside. Coleslaw was so good I almost licked the ramekin. We've been traveling for a couple days and been wanting a good BBQ meal. We walked into a place two days ago only to have the power go out as soon as we walked in because of high winds that downed nearby power lines. After the wait, Smokey Bears BBQ was much anticipated and did not disappoint. I ordered the pig taters and my husband ordered the jailbreaker. Both were delicious! We ended up taking half the sandwich and 1/3 of the tots home. The service was super friendly and the prices were very reasonable. This will be a regular stop whenever we are back in the area. read more

Yum! We stopped here after taking a detour to see the first ever KFC. We didn't want to eat at KFC so this was the perfect stop. The ribs, baked beans, and fries were our favorites! Great BBQ sauce too. We are glad we stopped. Employees were so friendly and helpful, too! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Barry M.

Barry has loved BBQ since his dad introduced it to him at a young age. He grew up and become a police officer for many years. Eventually realizing that his dream was to make people happy by serving them food you can't get anywhere else around here, the Smokey Bear's dream became real. Today Smokey Bear's is the place to be in Corbin and the Tri-Counties when you want killer BBQ or the best Burger or Catfish around. Every has to be done right or not done at all.

He stated that he kept reminding the staff to flip the specials out front, assuming this is a reoccurring problem. The fat wasn't rendered properly leading to rubbery texture and there wasn't a proper sear. 2/10 The other three of us picked the bowl of potato soup (6/10), Philly Cheese Sandwich (9/10), and Shrimp Scampi (7/10). The potato soup was pretty standard and could've used a little more seasoning. When I took my leftovers home, I added onion & garlic powder, kinders the blend, and salt & pepper and it was perfect! Shrimp Scampi tasted good but the noodles were well past Al dente. Not a big deal for the person who ordered it but something to note if you're a texture person. Overall, it was mediocre service (I think our server was new) and hit or miss food. It would be a great place to stop and grab some drinks at the bar, though.

So 20 minutes later we are wondering about that appetizer when we see a girl place a large tray on the bar and walk away. Dilbert, Dewayne or whatever his name was eventually makes it over and brings every single thing we ordered at once! He laughed and said well here's all your food. The pasta was good, the meatloaf was dry (shocker) and the best thing was the Mac n cheese. $82 bucks in all and yes we did tip. We should have stopped an exit before and gone to Texas Roadhouse. Pretty disappointing.

My family has raved about Smokey Bears BBQ for a long time. Every time I visited Corbin, however, I would eat somewhere else. My son chose this time and decided on SB BBQ--no backing out. I thought it would be a bigger place. It ready is just a small Mom & Pop place. Our server was efficient and personable, and our food was delivered quickly and correctly. The portions are large (as in get a to-go container large). My only two complaints are that the BBQ was cut into large chunks that didn't work with a sandwich (I had to take the sandwich apart to eat it, as did the others at my table). I also wish there was more than one option for the BBQ sauce at the table. Overall though, it is a great restaurant. read more

Literally the best BBQ we have eaten. I had the spicy jailhouse and my husband had the brisket! My husband had a few hard spots on his brisket but said it was super juicy and my pulled pork on my sandwich was amazing! So juicy, by far the best!
