    Inside the restaurant

While traveling I love to stop at restaurants that isn't a chain. I found this place and thought this is a quaint little place with home cook food so why not. Big mistake the service was terrible the server didn't know if she was coming or going. My food was cold and missing some food that was supposed to come with it. I told the server and the next thing I see she is walking out the door. Told another server what I was missing got tired of waiting for my food so we went to pay the bill for what my husband got which isn't nothing to brag about. The manager did take my food off the bill which he should have. This is one place I won't be back to.

Nice little spot in the middle of Barbourville. Very nice staff and hot meals. No real complaints, will probably eat there again for breakfast. Love the shabby country chic decor great for small town charm. The food is not gourmet but better than cooking. Stop in and support this local business until COVID and college return to normal.

Food was good but everything was cold. I took it home and put it in the microwave. The baked potato was way too cold to eat.

I loved the ambiance it put off instantly It feels homey and inviting. Food... I had the Londonian salad, with the honey vinegarett dressing. My husband had the pork burger with blackberry bacon jam. SCRUMPTIOUS!!! Their pickles are so yummy. We were sorry they didn't sell them Miss Shayleigh (sorry if it's spelled wrong) is an excellent server. Such a kind personality and she was very helpful to these old tourists. Looking forward to our sightseeing tomorrow Last and certainly not least, dessert... Their version of bread pudding was FOR ONCE, not a disappointment! Thank you for creating the most wonderful dessert. WOWZER!!!!!! ENJOY!

Two of our appetizer plates had old food on them which was gross. I think they may need to check the dishwasher to make sure it is working correctly. The BLT was yummy. Both soups were extremely thick. The potato soup was basically mashed potatoes which I've never experienced before. Food had good flavor but very small portions for the price but that is fairly standard at brunch places. It was a nice enough experience but I probably wouldn't go back. They did provide a complementary dessert due to a birthday celebration which was a nice touch!

The pulled pork in my Sweet Carolina BBQ sandwich had the look and taste of long, slow cooking. Lots of color on the "bark", with a balanced mix of coarse chopped pieces and thinner shreds. I thought it slightly dry and maybe not as much smoke flavor as I'd like, but that could be the pitmaster's preference. Any dryness was fixed by adding some of the 4 available house-made sauces. I tried all and decided on the spicy barbecue. My meal arrived quickly, no more than 5 minutes at most. The sandwich comes with 1 side. I chose the potato salad, which was very good: mustardy and tangy with the potatoes "al dente." Two sizes were available, regular and large. I thought the regular was sufficient and a good deal at $11.50 with the side. The coleslaw was very small as usual, but, as it was intended to be put into the sandwich for the Sweet Carolina, was sufficient, and good. The menu also has burgers, ribs, wings, and some interesting sounding combination sandwiches. Like Fried Bologna BLT. And brisket. Wish I could have tried that. My only complaint is the menu is very sandwich-oriented. No way to order a plate: a meat and 2 sides, and maybe a slice of cornbread (actually hoe cakes here instead). Larger combo are available, like the Smoky B Sampler with ribs, 2 additional meats, garlic toast, and a side (just 1). Way too much for one person, and with just 1 side, not ideal for sharing either. Many interesting appetizers and small bites, including corn nuggets, fried pickles and green tomatoes, cheese curds with marinara. The inside was clean, a generic modern building. Outside tables were not set up - was it just too hot to sit outdoors? The floor could use some fixing up: it looked like they had scraped off carpeting and left the glue. Strange. Lots of TVs tuned to various sports, the sound turned off. Music playing at a medium level which I enjoyed. Very hard rock. How hard? 9.5 on the Mohs scale. And then all of a sudden it changed to Taylor Swift. That was jarring but ok. I like her too. Clientele at this midday hour seemed to be mostly working men on lunch break. I think I was the only one without blue jeans and a baseball cap. When I got up to pay at the counter my waitress reminded me that my drink (Coke) comes with a free refill in a go cup. I didn't really want more but she encouraged me so I was going to get ice water. I pressed the wrong button on the machine and got lemonade instead. Oh well, that's fine too.

The food was hit or miss, with the chicken noodle soup being the highlight and easily the best thing I had. The fried chicken tenders, on the other hand, were disappointing. They were dry and lacked the crispy, flavorful batter and overall "fry factor" I expect from good chicken tenders. The service was also subpar. Our server (Amber C) seemed more interested in sitting in a booth with a male patron than making sure her guests were taken care of. There were missed opportunities to check back or see if we needed anything and, as a result, the restaurant missed out on an additional $16 in sales -- along with what would have been a generous tip. We didn't order a beverage because we thought the prices were simply too high. As for the atmosphere, there really wasn't anything particularly memorable about it. We were hoping to find that classic, welcoming diner experience, but unfortunately, this just didn't leave much of an impression. It's not a terrible place, but based on this visit, I'm not rushing back.
