This restaurant is so clean. The service is excellent. The food was fabulous. The manager Daisy personally greeted us asked us how our food was. This was an amazing experience for my family. We really highly recommend the barbecue here. It's excellent.

Three meat plate plus an extra side

Your typical Texan fast casual bbq joint. Nothing extraordinary to brag about, but a decent enough meal if you're starving. Prices and menu options are on par with all the other bbq places all over Texas, no surprises or standouts here. The two meat and Three meat plates are not a lot of food. Very little, in fact, comparatively to other such businesses. I was hungry an hour later. Meats were bland and mediocre. Pork loin was the better option, followed by ribs, followed by brisket. Sides were okay--it's difficult to screw up coleslaw and Mac and cheese. Creamed corn tasted like dessert--so sweet, I was wondering how much sugar was dumped into that. Staff are accommodating and service is quick. Not a place I'd return to. There are tons of similar restaurants that offer better food.

Got 1 lbs of brisket, 1/2 lbs of turkey and 1/2 lbs of sausage. The brisket and turkey were very good, smoky and flavorful. The sausage I did not really like. The skin was very tough and the sausage had just a peppery flavor. The service was fast and staff was friendly and courteous and smiling when interacting with us. Our three meats and a brisket baked potato came to just under $60 with no drinks or sides. Will have to try again in the near future and get a combo plate to try some sides.

    Sad brisket and egg taco

Came here this morning to get breakfast tacos for the fam. I was really let down. The tortillas were cold, and the brisket and egg tacos were super sad. I can see why this place is not that busy on a Saturday morning. They really should have as many customers or more than Shipleys next door. The refried beans and cheese tacos were soaked in straight cooking grease. The only reason they get a one star today is their coffee is average and hot. The employees were not friendly at all. I'll continue to make my own breakfast.

Amazed to have BBQ this tasty in Kyle!! I ordered a 3 meat plate that came with two sides: lean brisket, jalapeño sausage, pork ribs, potato salad and pinto beans and HOLY MOLLY WAS IT GOOD!! I tried both the Smokey MO's TX BBQ Original and Spicy sauce and I'm telling you what - perfection! The customer service was pleasant and helpful. The restaurant is clean and offers outside patio seating! I can't believe I hadn't been here before! 3 Meat Plate

Update-still love the breakfast but not the best bbq. The service was great. Staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. The brisket & chopped bbq was good. The pork ribs tasted old and stale. I don't think I will try those again. The slaw and green beans were ok as well. I will stick with the breakfast or stick with the brisket.

Smokey Mo's is great, reasonably priced bbq. What makes it even better is that it's in the neighborhood, close to home so there's no need to fight traffic driving into town for a great meal. The dining room is fresh and comfortable for dining in. Meat is perfectly done and portions are sizable. And there are several options for sides. The green beans, potato salad, Mac-n-cheese are all great!

I would say Smokey Mo's BBQ is just alright. The concept is super similar to Rudy's (ie decent chain barbecue) but I wasn't wowed by it. I had a 2 meat plate with brisket and sausage, green beans and pinto beans. Wouldn't order the green beans again, but the pinto beans and meat were decent. The service was as good as you'd expect for counter service and the new shop was pretty nice (& clean).

    Bean cheese and bacon taco

I usually love Smoky Mo's but today was super disappointing. I ordered two bean cheese and bacon tacos and it was more tortilla than anything else. The staff was friendly but unfortunately if these are the new portion sizes I won't be back.

Nice thing about them was they gave us samples when we were curious about an item on their menu. Their brisket was excellent. It was seasoned just right, not too fatty (you can request to get the fat cut off too if you want) and tender. You can order pork ribs by number of ribs instead of weight strictly. Their hatch Mac n cheese was fire. They add jalapenos to it and it was very creamy. Their beans had bits and pieces of brisket in them as well. Overall, a great BBQ place. Was just a bit uncomfortable sitting outside to eat on a toasty summer day.

The gentleman on the phone said they did but had run out of some of the other meats and had limited quantities of brisked, chopped brisked and smoked chicken. i told him we'd head right over. We got there and 1. were greeted with firendly happy faces, 2. I noticed a small bar area as soon as you enter and 3. even though most people were freaking out about the freeze later this evening, the place was half full which to me, is an indication that this olace must be pretty damn good if it was literally freezing and people were willing to risk it for the brisket. While we waited in line to place our order, I get a callback from the Bloodworth which i though was odd. I answered and it was the gentleman I had spoken to earlier to let me know they were running out of chicken and wanted to know if we wanted him to hild some for us. Ain't that super nice and fantastic customer service??? I told him were already in line and about to place our order. He came out from the back while he still had me on the phone to greet me and we both laughed about it. Super nice guy and turns out he's also the pitmaster. We placed our order for the smoked chicken and also a to go order of brisket to have the following day. We also ordered their 5-cheese mac and cheese and their potato salad. The staff helping us was super helpful and cheery telling us about their menu and how everything is made onsite. Their chicken was moist and tender with a good smokey flavor and well seasoned with sald and pepper. The wife and i split a chicken quarter each and that was more than enough, especially sonce we were also non-stop digging into the tangy, mustard based potato salad and creamy and heavenly mac and cheese. Neither is to be missed! Also, while I'm not generally a fan of bbq sauces, their Gold and Spicy are freaking out of this world. Kudos to the entire staff as they were all incredibly nice, from the two young ladies behind the counter slicing the meats and packing the sides, to the gentleman behind the bar (thanks for asking of I needed another Lonestar) to the pitmaster checking on his customers, it was just such a great, refreshing experience. Glad to have a fantastic option close by to indulge in great tasting smoked meats!

Super patient and friendly, greeted us when we came in and they even offered samples of the prime rib and pork loin before we committed to how much we wanted. That alone deserves a shoutout! Here's what we ordered: * Prime Rib - Honestly the star of the show. Great price, beautiful marbling, solid bark, juicy and pink inside. Perfectly seasoned. And that horseradish sauce?? So unique and addicting! I genuinely wanted to take extra home and put it on everything! I might have to get extra next time! * Moist Brisket - Tasted good. Not the best brisket we've ever had in Texas (let's be honest, that's a high bar), but for a quick, no-wait option? It was great! * Pork Loin - A sleeper hit. Juicy, well seasoned, nice smoke flavor, and super lean. This would be AMAZING for weekly meal prep. Not a cut you see everywhere and they did a great job with it! The pickled jalapeños and carrots are BOMB. Spicy with a great snap. Plus you get free pickles, bread, onions, and sauce, always appreciated. We really loved that they offer meats like pork loin and prime rib that you don't always see at BBQ joints, and they execute them really well! We'll absolutely be back for those in particular! Apparently we need to try the banana and chocolate pudding next time as we've heard it's good. Overall a solid stop!

Overview: Louie's BBQ is a small trailer operation tucked into a strip of shops in Buda, just south of Austin, where pitmaster Luis Vasquez has finally found the audience that eluded him in the city. The setup fits the small-town feel: a food truck that is a bit hidden, a casual lot, and a relaxed vibe that contrasts with the big-name Austin lines. Parking can be difficult. On my visit around 11:30, I had no trouble grabbing a spot in front of nearby shops, but you can see how it could get tight as the day goes on. There was just one person working during my visit, but the operation still felt efficient; my food was ready in about ten minutes. Food: The brisket was the best item on the tray. The slices were nicely moist with a good hit of beefiness, a noticeable but not overbearing smoke, and solid seasoning. The pork ribs leaned sweet, with a glaze that pushes in that direction without going candy-like. They were tender and well-cooked, easy to bite through. The sausage was also good: moist and seasoned well. Taken together, the meat lineup is consistent and enjoyable, but not destination-level. The sides show more personality. The pimento-style mac and cheese is very rich and extremely creamy, with a sweetness up front and a small kick underneath. The sauce is so thick that a single serving is plenty. The coleslaw hits a nice middle ground: creamy dressing, good crunch, and enough freshness to cut through the heavier bites. The tres leches corn is the most adventurous item I tried, a sweet creamed corn with cinnamon notes that leans dessert-ish. I am not convinced the concept fully clicks, but it is not bad, just more of a curiosity than a must-order. Dessert comes in the form of a banana-forward banana pudding with soft Nilla wafers. It delivers exactly what you expect and nothing more, which matches the theme of the meal: good, but not quite exceptional. On value, Louie's is top tier. With brisket at $34/lb, ribs at $22/lb, and sausage at $5-$6/link, it is well under many of the better-known spots in the greater Austin area, especially when you factor in that you are not paying with an hour in line. Portions are fair, and given the quality, it feels like an easy place to over-order without blowing up your budget. Final Thoughts: Louie's BBQ is not trying to be the next Franklin or a Texas Monthly pilgrimage stop, and that actually works in its favor. What you get is steady, well-executed barbecue, some fun, sweeter-leaning sides, and a bill that does not sting. I would not tell someone to plan an entire trip around it, but for folks in Buda or anyone already south of Austin who wants quality smoked meat without the big-city hassle, Louie's is one of the better stops in the area.
