I called Smokey's (NOW PRECISION GARAGE DOOR) today because for a couple months my remotes have not been working properly. I did lots of trouble shooting this past weekend. They did not work Mon. Today when Ray, the technician, arrived they suddenly ALL WORKED! He mentioned it likely was due to an old garage door opener (2012). He removed the housing and said a small area was warm but the rest looked clean. He also checked the remote on the garage frame. This service call cost $189.95 for a brief inspection. I find this price to be exorbitant along with the bid for a newly installed 1/2 hp Genie opener...$799. I regret calling this company. Not Ray's fault if this is the company policy of $189 for a service call. read more

Used this company 6 years ago to do a garage repair covered by my home warranty co. gave them 5 stars. I know longer have a home warranty co. But remembered my experience with Smokey's so w/o hesitation used them again. I thought the $939 I paid to have them install one of Genies most basic garage door opener was a lil high ( it's like $200 at Lowe's). But I was out of town with only my wife at home and just paid it anyways. Yeah I'm stupid I'll rate myself 1 star too. Because my other garage door opener just recently needed replaced so I called Lowe's instead... the same opener installed $348.00. Need I say more?! I called and they showed up the same day, on a Sunday. The door spring that they put in failed one month after but they came right back over and put in a new one free of charge. Caleb was in and out pretty quick. Their service is top notch professionals. Great job!!!! read more

They came looked at everything. They made a list of what is at most importance to repair. My spring had broke. So I did the 2 springs and the bearings. Price was very good it included there labor the parts and if any taxes. My garage doors works great and no more noise. We needed some repair on our garage door. The opener had a Smokey's sticker on it so I called them to come look at it. Their technician Jan came out and gave us an estimate for the repair and for the updating of the opener itself. Jan was very thorough and helpful giving us guidance as to what was really needed. We called the next day to schedule the repair. They were able to do it on a Saturday which worked out very well with our schedule. Tommy took his time to explain to me why the parts needed to be replaced, and how each part functions. He offered to answer any questions I had. My 8-yr old garage door wasn't opening or closing properly so I called Smokey's Garage. They gave me a $1500 estimate that included replacing the spring (was replaced a year ago), all bearings, said the 1.5 hp motor wasn't big enough to lift the door (the motor guides the door, the spring lift it), said my aluminum 1-car garage door was too big for the motor (most garages have a 1.5 horsepower motors as it is standard) and handed me an estimate for over $3,000. I called my son who is a licensed and registered contractor who said for me to send them away and he's send over his garage door guy. The result? One sensor needed adjustment which he did for free. Playoff Sunday for football. Car shut inside broken garage spring. Anthony showed up within an hour and a half ready to work. Tools ready, courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and professionally clean. Good mechanics don't get dirty. He went to work. No delays trouble shooting. Anthony went beyond just fixing the garage door. Replaced some rollers, greased up the slides and I am game ready. What would have been a two day job for companies that don't work on Sunday and me missing work with no vehicle turned into an easy Sunday and fixed quickly and professionally. Service Call, Upsell scam, buyer beware. Unprofessional Sales Pressure tactics. As a woman I am more times than not taken advantage of with technicians trying to upsell and make a commission, especially with add ons during service calls. I understand the need to make money. But honesty and transparency should be a priority, prices should be discussed separately from service tech, providing prices. Especially while onsite and pressuring a woman to spend $3000 when all that's needed is $250-$700 garage door motor. As a business do better to provide a list (or discuss on phone) of prices for possible service needs prior to sending out a tech, or call after tech makes evaluation providing options. I was so frustrated after Dave gave me the run around on multiple different prices and options and having to use calculator. Your tech should have just redirected me to a sales/service person to help discuss options. Vs trying to pressure higher priced sale over 3 phone calls then telling me if I was considering a garage door that he would have to wait and install both at same time and would not install motor, essentially hijacking me to make decision to install door and motor at same time. Then refusing to install motor. When pushed to make decision I snapped and said just install the fuxking motor, I felt like it was the only way for him to hear my decision. . I'm not sure that a man would have tolerated the running around scam BS pressuring me into buying door and motor. Then refusing to just install motor... I was pushed and cohered to choose the most expensive option. Then told you won't do business with me and cancel service call because the tech was upset, as was I because he wouldn't just install the $700 motor... So the customer is never correct to feel frustrated and cornered to purchase the most expensive service. This is an unfortunate way to do business. This tech Dave is the window to your shady business practices. Run, save your sanity, I do not recommend this company. I waited one week for them to come out after holiday only to be disappointed. I ended up using same day garage door services. They Went out 2 hrs after this fiasco and replaced motor no bullshit. See photos dents from 8 years ago do not affect motors ability to make it go up and down. read more

Excellent experience. Heard aloud boom yesterday, but couldn't figure out where it came from. Went to pull my truck out of the garage and when I went to shut it, I noticed the garage door got all wonky and messed up. Found cable disconnected. Called Smoke's garage door Based on the reviews on yelp & Google. Receptionist scheduled me for next day first thing in the morning appointment which was great. Got a call from Dave who said he would be here at 8:45 and he was right on time. Evaluated my busted system & showed me not just the cable, but the springs were distorted and one was broken. After going through everything that needed to be fixed and his recommendations, we move forward with the job. Smokey's was bought by Precision Door which is the company we found them through. Ivan was our installer and he was great. He replaced our old openers that worked but were so loud. We didn't get the top of the line but now they are belt, not chain driven. Very quiet. Ivan paired our cars, installed outside keypads, took away the old ones and greased everything. Garage door openers have gotten expensive, but what hasn't? The paid professional install was worth it. We would use Precision/Smokey's again. read more

Due to my own fault, I dented the tracks on my garage door opener while backing my car out. Subsequently, the door would not rise past about 1/3 of the way up before getting stuck. I reached out to several businesses and noticed that Smokey's offered same-day service. I was able to schedule a service window beginning about an hour from my initial call. Smokey's sent out Caleb, who was wonderful! He was prompt, professional, friendly, and able to get me back on track (literally) within a matter of minutes. Caleb was very thorough and checked other parts of the mechanism that might potentially become an issue in the future. I was left with peace of mind after the prompt repair. I cannot say enough good things about Smokey's and Caleb. Will definitely use the service again. read more

Did not fix it. Guy who came out wanted to upsell rather than repair (for example, replacing a functioning motor just because it was old), and said he wasn't sure what was wrong with it- more of a salesperson than a tradesperson. Charged $180 with no receipt for a "repair" that he couldn't articulate to me what was done to make it work, and that quit working the very same day the next time I tried to open the door. Note- under new management- be sure to sort reviews by newest and read the last six or so months- not the place that people recommended in the past. read more

Not only did they come out on the same day and fix my garage door within 20 minutes of being here, but the garage door is running better than it ever did. It's now quiet and smooth, whereas before it would emit a loud bang before closing. The service technician who came out was named Justin, and he was phenomenal! Sunday May 11, 2025. I have a Cardiologist appt. for Monday May 12 at 8:30 AM and my garage door system was not opening my door. I am 75 yrs old and I called Smokeys at 11 AM on Sunday May 11, 2025. The tech was here within an hour and fixed my problem of an old single door lifter problem. I knew this problem was to become a problem. Smokeys sent tech Dylan Payne to my house. He fixed my problem dealing with an old antiquated single door opener that has to be 25 (at least) yrs. old. He spent several hours with me and he was very professional, courteous and friendly. Very happy with the quality and service I received! Carlos was amazing! Our garage door was 31 years old. He said he could fix it or replace it. It was in bad shape, but he didn't pressure us to buy a new door. He laid out the facts and said he would do whatever we wanted. My door looks great. We had a problem last year with the 5 G tower and my new liftmaster garage door opener and we had to change out the opener. This year the fix was done with lift master and my garage door opener was put in by Smokey's. When I called to do this they answered the call in service as always and ordered the opener and call back to schedule. this was done within a few days. so amazing!!!! To begin with they are no longer family owned. I used them before for work years ago. I was always more than satisfied with their work. My good friend asked me for a a garage door company referral so I gave her this company's name. BIG MISTAKE. The guy who showed up took advantage of her and overcharged her DOUBLE.She is not a mechanical engineer so trusted him since I referred them. If you are a senior homeowner GO ELSEWHERE. If you aren't GO ELSEWHERE. They were bought out in Jan 2025 and owned by a corporation. I could not in any way recommend them for ANYTHING. My friend has since been compensated by Smokey's. The company that owns them is 'Neighborly'. They own a whole group of home repair companies. My review still stands. My recommendation is GET 3 estimates from highly rated vendors. read more
