Stopping here for supper, first there were the dark bathrooms that wouldn't light. Along with that electrical issue, an ear-splitting and head jarring smoke or other alarm went off every few minutes for about 15 minutes. Order taking was interrupted often when the counter employee shifted to incoming phone calls. That employee didn't know pulled chicken portion sizes in ounces and approximated with his hands. All of this created a dubious dining experience before we even finished ordering! This spot offers a variety of chicken recipes: roasted, BBQ, Caribbean, pulled, fried, and more. Sides includes Southern standards like mac and cheese, yellow rice, greens, coleslaw, and others. The pulled (shredded) chicken was overly seasoned with black pepper. Roasted chicken was a bit dry. The BBQ chicken laden with sweet sauce was the best of the chicken choices. Creamy coleslaw was 'meh' and lacked flavor. Rice, too, was just okay. Northern beans were nicely seasoned and well cooked. Pita triangles seemed an odd accompaniment since no sauce or dip was provided and they were too small to make sandwiches. We stopped here while travelling to try something different. It's easy to get to and has good parking. There is an outside patio, but we wanted to eat inside. There was no one else in the restaurant. We ordered from the counter in the rear, and then picked a table along the side. The food was ready in about five minutes. The BBQ pulled chicken was decent. I would have liked a choice of sauces, but nothing else seemed to be available. The seasoned fries seemed quite salty. I don't know if they were overseasoned, or if this is the seasoning itself. There are a lot of other options along the same road, so we will be trying something else the next time we come through the area. read more

The guy at the register was super patient with us and caught the drift that it was our first time in. He seemed to have a lot going on behind the counter-- answering phone calls, communicating with the other employees in the back, stocking forks and other items, etc. but he handled everything well. We ordered our food and used the restroom before sitting down. It was a single stall and, I suppose, could have been cleaner, but everything was at least stocked. I think our meals were like $20 total. The portion sizes seemed good for the price. My husband and I both got 1/4 chicken-- I got the white meat in the mild/regular flavor and he got the dark in the peri peri. I wish I would have chosen a more interesting flavor, but I was sharing with our 17 month old daughter. Either way, both were delicious and came with slices of fresh pita bread. We also got loaded bbq chicken fries, island rice, and the street corn salad. Honestly, our food was spectacular and I cleaned my plate. We will definitely be back! Perfect bite: bit of Mac, a bit of BBQ chicken. I got the Pulled BBQ chicken, with a side of seasoned fries and mac & cheese. It was a Caribbean BBQ sauce on the chicken, so it was a little bit sweet little bit hot, and really good. I generally don't like fat fries, but these were really perfect, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and seasoned just right. And the mac & cheese! Certainly not Kraft, out of the box. It was like white cheddar with pepper and it was pretty darn good. Oh, and they gave you a little side of grilled and spiced pita triangles, that were still nice and soft, to go with your chicken. It was a little strange to go into into the restaurant to get my order (which was ready when they said) - when you walk up to the counter there's a sign asking customers to wear a mask, yet the employees were not wearing masks. The la brasa marinade was on point and rivals any good Peruvian restaurant. Very flavorful with a good spice kick. The broccoli was al dente and flavorful with a hint of butter and garlic. Not to be outdone, the fresh roasted pepper hummus was amazing!! Dipping celery in this hummus would elevate your experience to 5-star! My companion chose the Jerk chicken marinade and was slightly disappointed that there wasn't enough of a spice kick, but the flavor was tasty on the palate. The mac n cheese he had wasn't stellar, but was solid. Cole slaw he found quite tasty! Buffalo wings he added on was satisfying for him, as was the potato salad. Came here on a Friday @2 pm. I went by the suggestions of the person behind the register. I got the rotisserie chicken with peri peri sauce, which I loved! It was spicy but a good kind of spice. Hot enough to keep eating but not too hot that you had to wipe the sauce off. I ordered the island rice which was my absolute favorite. It was SO FLAVORFUL! This place is a frequent stop for us on our way back from Chattanooga to southern Illinois. It isn't particularly quick but the chicken is always good and it's a nice change from fast food when you are on a road trip. This place has taking care of us everything. The order process is hassle free and the customer service is above and beyond. Everything we order we always receive a phone call to verify our order and location as well as an update to our food. The employees have excellent manners and the service is quick. The food is the icing on the cake even though it's the main portion. Again we're never disappointed with the food. The 1/4 or 1/2 chicken is delicious and moist.
