We gave this place a try, and while the food was just okay, the friendly, welcoming service stood out. The ribs were decent, and the coleslaw was our favorite. While driving north, my wife and I were hungry and saw this BBQ place so we decided to stop. The woman at the counter was quite nice while she was taking our order. We decided to go with some ribs to share. Not sure if it was the batch we received, but the ribs were quite dry, Fortunately, there were several sauces to choose from to help add some flavor back to the meal. We travel across the state quite a bit, and have passed this place several times. Just the smell outside is enough to draw the crowd. Well we finally stopped and now we're addicted. The place is so cute outside with all the paintings on the walls and so southern 1970s looking barbecue. We always show up on a Sunday and there's a lovely lady at the counter by the name of Lynda. I think she sometimes runs the joint by herself! But what a delight and what a wonderful job she does. The food absolutely amazing! We've had the beef brisket, the pulled pork and the spareribs dinners. All excellent. mac & cheese fabulous. Green beans fabulous. Collard greens a little hot but great. The Place is always busy, but it's not much of a wait for your food and it always comes out hot and delicious. Every table has several different types of sauces to add to your barbecue. First time here. They do let dogs eat in the dining room with customers as well as outside on the patio. They no longer soft serve ice cream but do have the other kind. The banana pudding unfortunately had no bananas in the pudding and tasted like vanilla pudding with banana flavoring with lots of vanilla wafers. The Mac & Cheese I expected it to be real cheesy because of what the owner said but it was dry mac & cheese. Large dining area inside with red picnic tables outside. First the BBQ is 5-star food. That's why you're coming here and that's what you should do... come here for the food. We had been told to take the back way home from Naples specifically to check this place out and we did. You walk in and order a counter straight out of 50 years ago. They will let you know when your food is done. We ate outside on a picnic table. The place gets about 1.5 stars, if you're being extremely above and beyond kind. The parking lot was tough and I drive a 4x4 truck. I can't imagine a passenger car... although almost every vehicle there was a 4x4 truck. The bathroom was about as rough as you could possibly imagine or worse. The indoor area is also the storage area. The entire place is from another era and world. That said, it smells like heaven on a plate when you pull up. It's amazing. The BBQ was delicious. We tried several different meats and they are were delicious. We tried their burger, which was very disappointing - overcooked and dry hamburger patties weren't eatable. The bread and the fillings were fresh and tasty. I would skip on their Mac and cheese, which I didn't much enjoy - it tasted rather bland and like out of a store bought box. On the other hand, their pulled pork bbq sandwich was to die for. Full of flavor and juicy, it's definitely a must try here. Soooo good! I also highly recommend to pair this delight with their house made potato salad and their baked beans, which pack bits of their delightful pork. The potatoes are well seasoned and the perfect blend of savory and crunchy. Their hot-dog was tasty and made a good addition to our meal. We wanted to try their ribs, which sadly they were out of at the time we visited. And as we will be back, we hope to get our hands on them. This place has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Wow, where do I start. I'm all for supporting small businesses, but this place just didn't do it for my husband and I. We were so excited to try a new bbq spot, so I ordered almost one of everything LOL. We tried the cornbread, half a slab of ribs, the pulled pork French fries, hush puppies, and onion rings... the only item that was good to me were the onion rings. My husband didn't too much mind the pulled pork French fries. However the corn bread was inedible. It tasted like the smell of the corn bread after you mix it, and right before you bake it (if you know what I mean). The ribs were perfectly cooked, but they just had no flavor. Lots of local folks, as this restaurant is nowhere near main roads or tourist attractions. I had the chicken and rib dinner and my friend had the pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich must have had a pound of meat. For my dinner the portion was half a chicken and a bunch of pork spare ribs. With two sides. I had the collards and cole slaw. For both of us, the Q was ok, nothing to write home about. Good smoke, over cooked on the line between done and mushy. If you are in the area, looking for BBQ, give it a try. Fun along the main highway bbq joint. This place also has ice cream and what looks to be a dance hall. Plenty of seating inside and out for all you bbq faithfuls. I was pleasantly surprised to see their propane tank smoker outside (looks like a submarine) churning away with tasty and flavorful smoke. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich platter (comes with two sides) and was quickly whisked away to bbq land. They have a variety of sauces to accompany the pork. Unfortunately, I had to use the spicy sauce. I normally like to eat the meat without any sauce but the smoke flavor was not as strong as I liked. Probably got an inside portion of the pork shoulder. Teeny Tiny Bowling Green has a population of less than 3000. I think my sock drawer has more unmatched socks than Bowling Green has families. To say it's a speck on the map is a wild understatement. What is does have is what some say it the best authentic BBQ joint in Central Florida and maybe the state. POPULARITY- So how popular is this place in the middle of nowhere? On my last visit, I showed up at 11:15 on a Sunday morning. There were five folks in line in front of me waiting to order. There were six folks waiting for their to-go orders. Between the outside picnic tables and the inside seating there were at least forty folks happily munching on great "Q" on a Sunday morning! Yikes! ATMOSPHERE- It's not much to look at on the outside. The smoker is out front in the mostly gravel parking lot. If it wasn't for the wonderful aroma you might drive right by it without a second glance. Inside it gets a little better but it's still a hole-in-the-wall joint. CUSTOMER SERVICE- That's not really in play here. The lady that takes your order at the cash register is friendly enough. You sit down with your number and usually wait about 15 or 20 minutes. A guy comes out, calls your number and hands you a Styrofoam box with enough great food to feed an army. ADULT LIBATIONS- There are none offered here but this is a BYO Beer place and folks do it all the time. So bring your favorite six pack to sip on while you wait for your food. FOOD- If you've ever been to a BBQ joint you already know the menu. Everybody agrees that the best deals here are the platters ($6.99-$8.99). You get your protein and two sides. Check out the pictures of the ribs. They are ridiculously good. The pulled-pork sandwich is so overstuffed it would feed three. On my last visit my sausage was so good I moaned with delight. I've always found the sides to be fine but the star of the show is the "Q." Some folks are so in love with this place that for them it's a destination restaurant and some travel great distances.
