A beautifully poured Double IPA = A nice Buzz!
    Steven B.

I love this place, go there often, and my so-called friends tease me about it! "Why is that Steven B. you ask?" Because it specializes in chicken wings, and I hate bone-in chicken wings! I'd rather have my you-know-what cut off with a dull, rusty knife and no pain meds than eat a bone-in chicken wing! So why do I go there? Read on. Arriving- Easy peasy! It's on the frontage road along US Route 27 South between the cities of Avon Park and Sebring. It's in a small plaza so parking is simple but may be a little tight on a Friday or Saturday night. Ditto if it is time for a big game. Ambience- It's a Sports Bar so sports kitsch and lots of flat screens. A large u-shaped bar divides the place into two rooms. Typical tables and booths. TouchTunes juke box for when not watching a game. Clean restrooms. Blindingly fast Wi-Fi so you can share your excitement with friends. It's a great place to watch a game! Customer Service- I've been here many times and never had a problem. They use the tag-team approach so expect a couple of folks to touch you. Adult Libations- Full bar and tap and bottle beer. Occasional 2 for 1 specials on domestic beers in addition to Happy Hour specials. Food- Wings (Including boneless), chicken wraps and sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Much of the chicken is available grilled or fried. Sauces-They are famous for them! There are dozens and dozens of beautifully organized choices, and they are all homemade! On this visit I ordered the Bufalucca Chicken Sandwich with grilled chicken. It has the usual toppings. The twist is you get to choose a sauce and I went with the Cajun Rub. My side was Fresh Cut Fries. To quaff I choose the Skyway Hazy Double IPA. Excellent! Excellent! The chicken was moist and spicy from the rub. The veges were crisp. They need to upgrade to a more robust bun but that's a minor quibble. The Fresh Cut Fries were spot on. I moaned when I sipped that Double IPA. If they'd had a Triple, I might have had an orgasm! Pre-tip the tab was $20. Four stars for sure and probably 4,5!

Sauces. The hot is hot. Be warned.

Great wings! I wish they were more consistent with the wing sauces but overall the wings are great.

I'm a non-smoker but I tolerated it because I enjoyed the people and the other aspects of the atmosphere. After 15 years, as of January 1st, the Tap Room is now NON-SMOKING! My lungs are very happy! Management is taking steps to remove as much of the odor as they can. Other than this big news, this is your typical dive bar- * Cheap drinks * TouchTunes Jukebox * Pool tables and dart boards * Occasional live entertainment * No food other than packaged snacks Pro Tip- They have a back entrance with easy parking. It's not fancy but it's used more than the front door! Note that the parking lot is a disaster and needs to be repaved. Drive in slowly! Atmosphere- Like many dive bars, the crowd varies from day to night. The crowd is older and more sedate during the day and younger and a bit rowdier at night. The TouchTunes jukebox is extremely popular here with many folks using the app on their phones. Genres played are mostly Classic Rock and Country with a little Pop occasionally thrown in. The bar is very large and is a bit unusual as there are both low and high chairs in different sections. Note that many of the low chairs desperately need to be replaced so choose carefully where you sit your thirsty ass down! Adult Libations- The big joke is the Tap Room has no taps! That's right, no drafts here but plenty of mostly domestic bottles and a full liquor bar. Bartenders- This place has 5 bartenders plus an excellent manager that often tends bar. The bartender's range in age from 30s to 70s. They are generally decent with some more conversational than others. Now that's NON-SMOKING, I'd love to give it 5 stars but the parking lot and the collection of crappy chairs hold me at 4!

I've eaten here many times, but this time my meal was exceptional! Arriving- This place is out in the boondocks of Avon Park! Trust your GPS to get you started. Once you are closing in there is excellent signage. Of course, you're parking at the clubhouse and there is a decent lot. Watch out for golf carts! Atmosphere- This is a golf club restaurant that is open to the public. It's a big, bright, airy place with two large rooms and a beautiful bar. As many of the customers are just off the golf course, it's very casual. It has quite a few TVs for catching a game but it's definitely not a sports bar. Customer Service- Our server was a bit of a mix. She was very new, very nice, but lacking in knowledge. With a little time, I think she'll be great. Food- A combo of unique and classic American fare. You've got your burgers, chicken parm and alfredo dishes. There is a selection of flatbreads that are awesome, and a giant pretzel served with warm beer cheese that is incredible to share! I was on a mission. I had seen an 8 oz. skirt steak with chimichurri on the menu. It's not often I see chimichurri and I was drooling. I paired it with some fries and looked forward to an amazing lunch. It was out in good time. For a lunch plate, it was a very nice presentation. The nicely seared steak was coated with chimichurri with some additional served on the sided. The pickled onions were a nice touch. The fries were beautifully cooked. The steak was fantastic and a perfect medium rare. The chimichurri was bursting with flavor and the fries were exceptional! The meal was an easy five stars, but the service was a bit off. I'm going with four stars and a strong recommendation to get the skirt steak!

The decor is classic 50s roadside diner with old license plates on the wall, an old pickup truck outside and a TV on ESPN by my table. The menu is classic Americana / diner fare with a southern touch. I'd been on an empty stomach through my 3 hour drive and meetings, so by the time I sat down to eat, I almost would have even eaten the paper the menu was written on :) Since it was a little bit on the chilly side, I started with their hearty cup of baked potato soup, deliciously loaded with cheese & bacon bits in a stew. Their warm, buttery and fluffy rolls topped with cinnamon butter were worth every single gram of carbs and almost functioned as a dessert themselves. Then came my yummy main dish, a roasted half chicken with just the right amount of skin and garnished with a smoky barbecue sauce. It was a sizable bird, taking up a nice bit of plate real estate, though leaving just enough room for a warm and topped with butter sweet potato. Needless to say, I still had room for dessert, and enjoyed their Keylime pie. Mal, my waitress, was very pleasant and I didn't have to wait for soda refills. Plating was also on time. I noticed they also had a Valentine's Day local special. It seems like this is a happening place in Sebring and I'd stop by next time I'm in the area.

-- My craving was satiated! -…read more Cowboy Steak Salad popped into my brain and the craving was so strong I jumped into my car and drove the11 miles to this place. Here is what happened- The Chain- Based in Tampa, there are around 140 locations with the majority in Florida. They can be either franchised or corporately owned. They tend to use existing spaces so the interiors can vary quite a bit. Over the years, I think I've been to four of them. Arriving- This one is on the northbound side of US Route 27. It's in a plaza fronted by the local MickyD's. Just look for the golden arches. Plenty of easy parking. Pro Tip- If you are a Yelp Check In person you'll frown. The address is screwed up and maps about 5 miles away so no Check In! Ambience- These guys bill themselves as a Family Sports Restaurant and that's about right. Zillions of TVs! You'll be surprised how small it is. The u-shaped bar seats about 15. Booths around the edges and mostly high tops in the middle. There is nothing unique about it. It's clean & neat and otherwise unremarkable. Adult Libations- Full bar with maybe ten taps and lots of bottles. Not a fancy craft beer place. You'll have seen the selection many times. I ordered a pint of Goose Island IPA @ $6.50 but it was 2 for 1 so not only tasty but a great deal. Wi-Fi- Kind of a mess and needs work. There are four or five unsecured obvious listings, but they either had no internet or required registration which I'll never do. Fortunately, Xfinity had a strong local hotspot, so I was good to go. The App- Solid with great reviews! If you are ordering to-go or delivery, the app is a must. Customer Service- I sat at the bar, and my bartender was wonderful. Five stars and absolutely no complaints! Food- Giant, giant menu. They try to satisfy everyone. That rarely works but they give it a great try. It's American comfort and bar food and you've seen variations of it a million times before. I ordered my Cowboy Steak Salad @ $16,99 and specified medium rare. It comes with blue cheese dressing, but I subbed ranch with no problems. It came out exactly as I was craving. My steak was tender, sliced nicely and cooked perfectly. In addition to the greens, my salad included roasted corn, diced tomatoes, bacon crumbles, onion crisps and shredded jack cheese. All I can say is yum! Conclusion- So the place is nothing fancy or particularly original, but it was clean with a great bartender, very good entrée salad at a competitive price. It gets a solid three stars from me!
