Good BBQ. Only suggestion is to lose the plastic utensils. I had the 3 meat platter, ribs, wings and brisket. Quite a deal at $24.95. Had to smile at the sides, as the cole slaw was a little cup but the onion rings were mammoth. Kind of a Laurel & Hardy contrast. The brisket was tender and not at all dry (looking at you, Papa's) but I wish they'd trimmed the large rind of fat. Ribs were great and so were the wings. Came back twice since my initial visit.

Look for the antique pickup and for turn Smokin' Willie's BBQ.

This is a lick-your-fingers, sauce on your face kind of BBQ place. Nestled in Galesburg, but kind of out of the way, Smokin' Willie's is housed in the Cedar Creek Event center and if you follow your GPS you will land at an unlikely looking spot for a restaurant. Look for the antique pickup truck and the Cedar Creek event center sign. The interior is legion hall without the old cigarette smoke, very clean but spare. There is a separate bar business and the staff was friendly and accomodating. Cash only for drinks and food. The BBQ was EXCELLENT! Really nice smoke on the ribs and the sauce was terrific. Also ordered the chicken wings, half original and half spicy. My hubby and I thought the dry wings were awesome and highly recommend getting an order of those. My favorite part about this BBQ joint is that everything is homemade. That was pretty obvious with the side order of coleslaw and potato salad. The slaw had the perfect amount of crisp and it was not soupy, a perfect compliment to the smoked food. Potato salad was tasty. Onion rings were hot and crisp, plus served with an onion-specific dipping sauce. I can't stop thinking about the ribs at Smokin' Willie's! Plan ahead so you can visit when they are open, Wednesday-Saturday. It's worth the trip!

We went Saturday night and it was delicious. Staff was very friendly. Food was good and prices are reasonable. It was around 7p with family of 3. Drinks were delicious.

This bbq is great as a Texan this stacks up against any bbq I've had there. When I hear bbq I don't usually think Illinois, this place is defined the hole in the wall that deserves credit

Way too much sauce. No idea what the actual food tastes like. I got BBQ nachos and it was like soup.

Tasty brisket, rib tips, and Mac n cheese. I'm so glad we stopped by on a road trip. There's a full bar you can order drinks from, too.

What is the first thing you think of when you go to a barbecue joint? Ribs!!! Don't think about it…read morewhen you go to the smokehouse before 5. When I tried to order a half slab at 345 the waitress told me they only serve ribs for dinner because they were still on the smoker. I know how long it takes to smoke ribs, no more than 5 hours. So if you need to hire a night cook do it. I had to order the Carolina chicken sandwich and my wife got the brisket sandwich. Lets start with my wife's "brisket" sandwich. It looked like the roast beef you get in the tub from Aldi's it was that shiny, tough, soggy, gray looking roast beef with no smoke ring or flavor to be found. My Carolina chicken did have good smoked flavor if you could get past the over- powering Carolina sauce. The sauce was basically a jar of Hines mustard that they tossed my chicken in and threw on a bun. We drive 30 miles to this place expecting great barbecue and found a bar serving bar food and passing it off as quality barbecue.

Let's start with the two positives. Prices are good and food was ok. I had the brisket sandwich and…read moremy wife had the Reuben. Mine was tender and good flavor. Wife said hers was ok. Now the rest of the story. We arrived at 630pm. They were out of half the menu. Our waitress was dumb as a rock. She couldn't remember what my wife had for a drink. She had way to much stripper perfume on and her dress was see through. The bartender was drunk and enjoyed discussing her orgasms with the bar patrons. The credit card machine was broke so thankfully they had an ATM. No one bothered to mention that before we ordered. Wouldn't go back. Better NOW and better atmosphere to be had elsewhere.

Given it's double the price of a single meat platter, I expected it to comfortably feed two. On the platter were two solid ribs, a quarter dark chicken, and one hot link which were all solid sharing portions. Brisket which I understand would be one of the more expensive items - was one slice plus a sliver of a dry end attached to it. I'm not sure if that's one slice or a one slice plus what one was counting as a second slice. This was a disappointing mark - I thought about asking the server about whether we should have at least a full second slice. Pulled pork - to me is a much less expensive item compared to brisket - yet a relatively small amount. Not as egregious as the easily measured brisket. Cole slaw - even if it was made in house as opposed a commercial bulk supplier, this is a low cost item no? Small dish. Quality is very good - just a question of the quantity. Tap water here seems filtered for neutral taste. It was a nice day on a quiet Sunday afternoon so we opted to get seated outside on the patio with umbrella shade. Traffic going by was light and quiet. Two servers available during the lull while we were there and the worked as a team to check on us outside.

All very good and great smoke flavor Ang quality of meat. They serve them with just dry rub but had a great selection of sauces on the tables. I added a side of chipotle Mac & cheese with ham and it too did not disappoint, very flavorful and a healthy portion. The wait staff was friendly and very quick to serve us even though there were 6 at our table. It was a nice night and we all sat out on the patio. They also had a good selection of craft beer which pairs so well with the BBQ.

This little gem is located in the US Cellular Coliseum in downtown Bloomington and is only open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 AM to 2 PM. If you attend sporting events or concerts, you've seen the restaurant in the end zone with the glass walls. Well that's the location. You need to park on the IBC side of the coliseum and enter the door on the side near section 113. I've only been twice and both times they've featured smoked: Brisket (freakin tender and most awesome) and pulled pork. They rotate another meat each day: Ribs, Tips, Chicken Quarters, Wings (one or two of these). Sometimes they have other sides like the most awesome BBQ Hash I've ever tasted. It had a mixture of all their BBQ meats diced into a hash like corned beef hash. It was very good. They have all the normal sides like: fried okra, salad bar, green beans, baked beans, mac & cheeses and many others (some rotated). They have chili and corn bread, sometimes pizza, sometimes cheese quesadillas. Add a sweet tea and I think the price is around $11 not counting tip. They get pretty packed and are normally short handed on the wait staff (I think they only have one person serving but a group cooking and refilling the trays). Just grab a table and help yourself and when the waitress makes it over she'll take care of the drink order. I plan to make this a regular stop for lunch when I'm in town.
