Got the sampler for a late lunch and shared it among the three of us (we expected to eat light). Was $37. Our sides were sweet potato tots and cole slaw. Given it's double the price of a single meat platter, I expected it to comfortably feed two. On the platter were two solid ribs, a quarter dark chicken, and one hot link which were all solid sharing portions. Brisket which I understand would be one of the more expensive items - was one slice plus a sliver of a dry end attached to it. I'm not sure if that's one slice or a one slice plus what one was counting as a second slice. This was a disappointing mark - I thought about asking the server about whether we should have at least a full second slice. Pulled pork - to me is a much less expensive item compared to brisket - yet a relatively small amount. Not as egregious as the easily measured brisket. Cole slaw - even if it was made in house as opposed a commercial bulk supplier, this is a low cost item no? Small dish. Quality is very good - just a question of the quantity. Tap water here seems filtered for neutral taste. It was a nice day on a quiet Sunday afternoon so we opted to get seated outside on the patio with umbrella shade. All very good and great smoke flavor Ang quality of meat. They serve them with just dry rub but had a great selection of sauces on the tables. I added a side of chipotle Mac & cheese with ham and it too did not disappoint, very flavorful and a healthy portion. Ordered food from Haze, and honestly didn't know what to get. Saw these wings on the menu for an Appetizer, but ordered 12 and made it a meal. Other dilemma was to figure out what sauce to get with it, as it comes on the side. Haze Smokehouse threw in 4 different flavors and I got to try them all. Dilemma left was not knowing which flavor I loved best, as they're all fantastic. Highly recommend this place. Wings were incredible. Even if someone doesn't like sauce, it's done perfect and brined so it's full of flavor. Girlfriend loved her Chicken Club, and raved about the Mayo- BBQ sauce they put on it. Our preferred restaurant in LaSalle-Peru, Reid's Southern Kitchen & Smokehouse (phenomenal all around), wasn't open for lunch, so we decided at the last minute to give Haze Smokehouse a try... huge mistake! We were seated and waited on by the female owner. Her entire demeanor changed as soon as she noticed and glared at my "Charlie Kirk Freedom" shirt. The interactions from there on out were just straight up uncomfortable as she offered nothing but snide comments, a bad attitude and kept serving up the dirty looks along with the bland food, overcooked meat and small portions. I should've known better when I saw the Sox pride flag outside the front door on the way in. We won't be giving Haze our business again or recommending it to anyone else. If I had visited their FB page beforehand, we would've chosen another restaurant rather than exposing our sons to their obvious political bias and immoral values. I've been in the customer service industry over 30 years... people like this, who cannot control their opinions and emotions, should not be in the restaurant business. read more

I would not recommend this place. First of all we went into this huge restaurant. There was only one other couple in there and it was 4:30 PM on a Saturday and I thought that is not a good sign and we ordered and our food was at the table within minutes and it was dried out meat. I had the sampler that included naked St. Louis style ribs, pulled pork, brisket, sausage and chicken. My sides were baked beans and mac & cheese. All 3 sauces offered were uninspiring. The ribs were okay but more peppery then smoked. The sausage was limp, not browned and also peppery. Everything else was average or below. I didn't even finish half the food. They have indoor/outdoor seating. Masks and social distancing was being practiced. The interior and bathrooms were very clean, Service was friendly. The owner, Lee, is funny and down-to-earth, he and helped us make our vision be better than we could have ever expected or hoped for. LaSalle isn't a very big town ( less than 10,000) but it's scenic (on the Illinois River and near several beautiful state parks) and has at least one great restaurant - Haze Smokehouse. We stopped here after spending the day hiking in Starved Rock and Buffalo Rock state parks. LaSalle is just 10 minutes west so, looking for good bbq, we checked it out. Casey, our server, was superb - attentive, communicative and fully masked (COVID-19 tunes). The food - pulled pork sandwich and a cheeseburger with Swiss cheese and mushrooms - was excellent. Good beer selection. Lots of bourbons too, although we didn't try any. Outdoor seating was nice - despite it being 80°F and a Saturday, we were comfortably spaced far apart from other customers. I would come back here again, without reservation. We had good food and loved the blues music from the in-house audio system. Might even come back tomorrow! read more

That was a huge win and especially since it came with 3 sauces. Also, we had All that Jazz burger. This is where we were stuck on. It had a very healthy amount of meat however it was very very dry. There was no sauce and (no cheese which is fine,), but it was too dry for our taste. I think they should add a sauce as an option because it would've made a difference. The order was over the phone and for pick up in service was friendly and food was prompt. The ribeye was served medium just as I requested it was juicy and flavorful and delicious the accompanying size were hot and fresh the fried kale was very crisp and delicious not or really at all. The salad which I had before the meal was ranch dressing it was delicious crispy greens. And for dessert we opted for the chocolate flourless cake with Kahlúa cake and all my God let me tell you how decadent and delicious that cake was it was cold and phenomenally delicious it was complexly textured with perfect creamy taste read more

I was looking for a decent place for lunch after hiking at Matthiessen State Park and I found Haze on yelp. This restaurant is quite large and modern and they have a great patio with plenty of umbrellas for shade. We gladly took a seat outside so we can enjoy the beautiful weather. I was glad to see some beers I was unfamiliar with so I took that opportunity to try the Sweetwater 420 extra pale ale. The bf and I shared the 6 piece smoked wings and Haze smokehouse sampler with fries and coleslaw. The smoked wings were my favorite. They were juicy and smokey. My bf and I liked the ribs the most from the smokehouse sampler. The pulled pork and hot sausage were okay and the smoked wings were much better than the smoked chicken. The brisket was my least favorite, it was generic and dry. The fries were unfortunately limp and I didn't really like the flavor of the coleslaw. I tried all the bbq sauces and my favorite was mixing the hot bbq with the bourbon sauce. They don't leave the hot bbq sauce on the table, so just ask for it! The 6 wings and the bbq sampler were plenty for two people. We ended up taking home some leftovers, too. Our waiter was friendly and service was good. Visit Haze for fantastic barbecue. They do all things meat, and they do them well. Our favorites were the chicken wings (super juicy and flavorful), the St.-Louis-style ribs (tender and smoky), and the roasted chicken. The sausage was good, though the spices were quite strong. The brisket and the pulled pork were enjoyable, too, but a bit dry. For an appetizer, the nachos were excellent. We were staying for a weekend at Starved Rock and read about this place in yelp. We came in and got the best seat in the house, a view of the grill. The smoker could been seen outside the building. The manager went over all of the craft beer choices. Most of the choices were local. First time there we had the slider appetizer which allowed us to try the brisket, pulled pork and sausage. My husband went with the sausage sandwich. It was topped with house roasted red peppers and melted cheese. I had the salad and a cup of unbelievable Mac and cheese that was creamy and studded with roasted poblano peppers and ham. This was reason enough to come back again during our short stay. The next visit started with soft pretzels and a PBR cheese dip. I had a burger with smoked bacon and my husband had the fried baloney. We split a bowl of the Mac and cheese again.
