While I was placing my order the staff was distracted looking at other people coming in, proceeded to stop making my drink and prioritized other orders. While waiting I was asked if I was color blind. Customers were building up and the manager Anita was putting up a new menus on a board. Horrible experience. First time at this location. There was only one person working, which I understand, there is a labor shortage so I was patient with the 10 minutes it took to take my order. I ordered the same thing I always get, she insisted she couldn't make that drink because it "wouldn't work." So I just ordered a chocolate activator with cinnamon. I asked for a 20-ounce. She charged me for the big one, I just paid so I would t hold up the growing line. After waiting another 10 plus minutes, she gives an airy, foamy artificially sweetened drink. Worst Smoothie King experience ever. Ordered a 40 ounce and a 32 ounce smoothie for my spouse and me, and also asked for a separate cup (we had a little one sleeping in the car and were not sure if she wanted some smoothie when she would wake up, so extra cup seemed like the best choice). The owner made the decision to charge me 54 cents for the extra cup. I know that she had some discretion there, but I understand it from a business perspective. So far so good. After some wait the owner then served me a 32 and a 20 ounce smoothie. When I pointed out that she had made a mistake and that I had ordered a 40 ounce and not a 20 ounce drink, she first blamed me (!) for the mistake. I never order 20 ounce smoothies. I assured her that I had asked for a "40 ounce extra large" which the cashier confirmed. She offered to make another 20 ounce smoothie. I asked whether I should pay the difference. I guess since they had made a mistake, and they wrongfully blamed me for the mistake, and since they had me waiting in line for another preparation time (and my family waiting in the car) I would have expected the owner to make up for it. How wrong I was. No apologies, and yes, I was to pay for the difference. Certainly not great customer service ... but ok. However, they then charge me A FULL SECOND 20 OUNCE SMOOTHIE!! Seriously?! They were supposed to charge me the difference between 20 and 40 ounce, not a full new drink. So this is getting pretty bad. When I point this out, they first refuse to change it. I have to make a scene in front of other customers before the owner offers to "refund me" which results in her putting $1.60 on the table. I am dramatically confused now. She explained it to be the price difference between the 40 ounce smoothie and the 2x 20 ounce smoothie that I had paid. Btw no paper trail, no corrected invoice. She just put some change on the table... and it was the wrong amount. I voiced my confusion. She offered to do the math on a napkin. I had to guide her through her own math to demonstrate that she was shortchanging me of a dollar. After she recognized her error, she finally pays me back my money. Again zero apologies from her. The owner finally passed me the two smoothies. I point out that she had forgotten to include the extra cup. She refuses to give me the extra cup. I say I paid for it. She has the nerve to ask me for the receipt. After everything that had gone done. I produce the receipt and she hands me my order. Finally. Still zero apology. I have never been treated so badly at any Smoothie King. This is not some employee gone rogue, this was the owner showcasing the worst customer service possible. Absolutely unbelievable. If you want a smoothie from Smoothie King there are plenty of other locations to choose from. My family and I were frequent customers at this location, but we'll be looking for another options now. I am at smoothie King 4 to 5 times a week. I typically go to the one on Weslyan and I sometimes go to the one on Richmond when I simply do not want to get out of my car. I have come to this location on Holcomb three times. I always get the same thing a large lean one chocolate extra thick no bananas and almonds at the very end so they're crunchy. In fact when I go to the Weslyan one they already know So I got my shake and walked out to my car it was definitely extra thick but it also had bananas which I'm allergic to. We had a 2-hour flight ahead of us, & knew that between picking up the rental car, checking into the hotel, & freshening up, it'd be late into the evening by the time we'd have a chance to eat again. Smoothie King was a decent interim "meal" between lunch & dinner. My slim & trim chocolate shake consisted of protein powder, bananas, & raw sugar. With about 300 calories in a small, & considering it kept me full & satisfied for hours, I guess I got some pretty good nutritional bang for my caloric buck, but the sugar content (like at all other smoothie joints) is through the roof. I can't hang with that. Taste was not like a traditional chocolate milkshake as it didn't contain ice cream or frozen yogurt. He ordered The Hulk smoothie which is supposed to help you "put on quality weight." At about 1500 calories for his medium, weight is exactly what you'll be putting on if you drink more than one of these! Main ingredients include strawberries, butter pecan ice cream, raw sugar, & weight gain blend. I asked them to leave out the wheat germ because I knew he'd be able to discern an unpleasant taste & texture. I drink healthy protein shakes every so often which don't break the calorie bank. I know where to get high-quality, decadent ice cream shakes. Smoothie KIng attempts to combine the two, but doesn't succeed. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! BAD! i order my drink and forgot to ask for almond milk, the drink was just done blended but managed to stop the lady making it. I tell her I can't have regular milk. If she can replace it with almond milk... she gets the manager and the manager tells me he can't do it because he's loosing money. $6.50 dollars he's loosing with an unsatisfied customer. He manages to make me another but scolds me for forgetting to mention it to the cashier. I apologize but it slipped my mind to mention it, yet he makes a big deal out of it. At other Smoothie Kings I always order an Immune Builder w/o Turbinado and little or no ice. When I ordered the worker (Anita R.) advised me that the smoothie "will NOT taste good". Okay, I think it tasted fine with no ice or extra sugar based on my numerous orders before. Who is she saying my smoothie will not taste good? Then she suggested I add water, but I said I didn't want any added water and I am not paying for water. Plus, the ingredient list does not say water or ice, therefore I should get a full order without it. So when I received the smoothie it was literally only about 50-60% full, and she advised me that it's because I didn't add ice or water. If this is the case then I have been deceived and this is false advertisement. I took a picture of it and will let my grievances known. She was also very rude, inconsiderate, and to make it worse, she tried to coach me on what to say when I fill out this survey. It was if she was trying to defend herself already and that I was an idiot for ordering no ice. Out of the many times I have gone to a Smoothie King, this has been the most unfriendliest and worse experience I ever had.
