Bluestone Lane is such a charming little cafe in the center of Rice Village. The space is so inviting and bright. I'm so glad that we found it while walking around the area. We came to grab refreshing drinks in the Houston heat. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, so we ordered at the counter and were able to sit anywhere we liked. I ordered the Berry Bliss Smoothie, which looked really aesthetic and tasted good. It honestly kind of reminds me of how Erewhon's smoothies look (although I've never tried them). My sister ordered the Protein Peanut Butter and Blueberry Smoothie. The peanut butter tasted pretty strong. My smoothie didn't have any protein powder, so I'm not sure if mine was worth the $11. On the surface everything looks pretty ship shape: ambiance is on point, plenty of natural lighting, brunch type foods for days, and an ideal setting for a solo lunch, a group meal, or just coffee on the go. First timers will notice how bright, clean, and inviting the space is, with a good amount of seating that include outdoor and indoor options. It is group and kid friendly, and serves as a solid destination for lunch meetings and coffee meetups. The food is not much to write home about, but for brunch and breakfast minded folks it should do the job. Bacon is crispy, the lemon ricotta pancakes look better than they taste, and despite the fabulous latte art, the coffee is also somewhat average as well. The avocado toast and soft chili scrambled have the presentation down but I can't help but feel the portions are a bit too modest. It goes without saying the prices are going to be on the higher side. The real achilles heel here is the service. On some days it's simply slow, and on others, it feels completely non-existent. It's been interesting seeing the changes and staff with every visit, but the end result has been the same. It's not enough to deter me, but I can see how it can rub the average party the wrong way. This Aussie inspired cafe is one of the cafes I like frequenting due to its space and laid back vibes. There is paid parking in front or a free garage right next to it for the first 2 hours as a Rice Village offer. The space is bright white with light blue hues and makes it a clean and modern looking space for cafe goers, brunch seekers, and beverage sippers or snack munchers to enjoy. I prefer this location to all the other Houston area Bluestone Lane cafes primarily because it is a larger cafe with ample seating space and convenient location. From almond (my fave here) and plain croissants to banana bread and savory scones (the cheddar is yum), and pancakes to savory sandwiches (truffle mushroom!), everything I've had were of good quality and tasty. The drinks on the other hand have been mostly a hit, though sometimes a miss depending on the barista (sad when it tastes watered down). I love their iced drinks the most, particularly their Iced Milo, Iced Mocha, Iced Chai, and Iced Aussie Latte. For hot drinks, I typically enjoy their Flat White, Cappuccino, and Hot Chocolate. They've also got kid friendly options too. There have been times where there has been great service as a sit down guest and other times not too good, especially very busy times/weekend morning rush. There also isn't a very clear concept on how the cafe is run, unless there's a team member at the front that brings you to a table, it feels a little isolating upon entrance and you can either find a table and seat yourself, or head to the counter to place an order. The QR codes are located on every table so you could also place an order that way and someone will bring it out to you. This review is more of a 3.5 star review, upgraded to a 4 star because of the quality of the food and drinks I've tried and the ease of placing orders in app for pickup. Personally I don't like blueberries so I would have loved more strawberries, and just a little more of the lemon and ricotta. Bluestone is a very cute breakfast lunch spot close to rice. I've come here many times for a business lunch. Service is fast so you can be in and out if you need to be. They have a convient option of ordering and paying though their QR code. The food I would say is on the health conscience side. I've had the brekke sand which and the brekke smoothie. The smoothie is not sweet , you can tell it was an all natural smoothie made with just fruit and milk. The brekke sandwich is good liked the added bbq sauce but I didn't realize that it comes with no sides. I think if I was on a diet or just wanted cleaner eating options this would be a good place to add. I've seen their more whole grain salad type meals and they always look delicious so i think I'll start order those type of meals when I get there and save the burgers for the bbq spots read more

Oh this was so good.... Actually this was great. I had the avocado scramble with the vanilla protein shake. The protein shake was top 2. I added chicken to my scramble. Everything was so fresh I truly appreciated this meal. There was free two hour parking in the garage as well. Service was amazing. This is listed as a coffee shop but it's really more than that. Located in where Bath and Body Works used to be in Rice Village, we stopped by (2 adults, 2 kids aged 2 and 6) while in the area and trying to get out of the heat on a Tuesday. It is a chain from Australia. As you walk in, you have the choice to be seated or not. They have a to go option as well. There is a small baked goods display case. We opted to be seated and you'll get a menu. Because it's a coffee shop, you might need to wait a few minutes for someone to seat you... or just walk towards the counter. We did have a waitress but she disappeared after we placed our orders... she sat at a table two over from us with another employee studying. She was friendly when she was helping but we didn't really see her again. The place is quite airy and I can definitely see it being by the coast. We ordered: LEMON RICOTTA PANCAKES: this is the prettiest dish of pancakes I've ever ordered in my life. It came with an orchid! I didn't even know they were edible! Lol. The pancakes were great as well as the cream. It actually comes with the ricotta layered on top which is new to me. I'm used to ricotta pancakes having the ricotta in the batter itself. Having it on top along with the cream, plus syrup on the side and berries helped keep them moist. BERRY BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE: I got this for my youngest who is likely allergic to most everything there except for maybe oatmeal but he's not terribly fond of that. He did drink some but didn't love it. I finished most of it and it tastes really healthy. They definitely use ice cubes in there, haha. The flavors were more mild so you know they used the real fruit, haha. It is $9.5 a cup though. CHOCOLATE CROISSANT: this was for my daughter whose go-to pastry is the pain au chocolat. It's pretty good? I only ate it as leftovers so I can't say for sure but they do use the chocolate sticks traditionally used for pain au chocolat. She ate at least 1/3 of it so that's promising. I might need another trip to get a better idea of the food. I'm intrigued by some of their chocolate drinks and this Milo I've heard of but never tried so those will definitely be ordered next time. I would have ordered it but I knew I'd be finishing the smoothie, haha. Overall, nice place. Most of the tables were full of friends mingling or for business. Even a few laptops so you can linger.
