Soft Chili Scramble w/ Avocado topped with smoked salmon
    Diana S.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute cafe in Rice Village that's perfect for breakfast and lunch. It's casual, cozy, and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking: Private paid lot, free street parking, or complimentary parking in the garage for up to 2 hours. What I've tried so far: - Soft chili scramble with avocado: I topped this with smoked salmon and it was delicious! - Avocado smash: It was good but nothing to brag about. I ordered bacon on the side and it was nice and crispy. - Spiced chicken wrap: This was delicious! Not spicy and the wrap was on the thinner side to me which I liked! Overall, the staff is friendly and the food comes out fast and fresh! A great place if you want to stop by for a quick meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Another bonus, the outside is dog friendly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came here for brunch with my friends and everything was yummy! But overall it was pretty pricey and nothing too special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute brunch spot and the people were nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also heard their smoothies are pretty popular

Athlete burrito - 8.5/10 - Pretty tasty and clean but would be better with some spice or more flavor Chill scrambled egg - 8/10 - Loved the chili in this but could use more of it Almond croissant - 7/10 - Decent, didnt have enough filling in the inside Iced chai latte - 8/10 - Cinnamonny and sweet but could use more chai flavor Iced mocha - 7/10 - More on the bitter side but pretty good coffee [[HIGHLIGHT]]This specific location for Bluestone is the cutest one that ive been to.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have quite a lot of brunch, pastries, and drink options. I would say the food is decent. Its good for a casual brunch but some of the items are quite bland to me and could use more flavor.

Bluestone Lane is such a charming little cafe in the center of Rice Village. The space is so inviting and bright. I'm so glad that we found it while walking around the area. We came to grab refreshing drinks in the Houston heat. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, so we ordered at the counter and were able to sit anywhere we liked. I ordered the Berry Bliss Smoothie, which looked really aesthetic and tasted good. It honestly kind of reminds me of how Erewhon's smoothies look (although I've never tried them). My sister ordered the Protein Peanut Butter and Blueberry Smoothie. The peanut butter tasted pretty strong. My smoothie didn't have any protein powder, so I'm not sure if mine was worth the $11. But in the Houston heat, it was much needed. The staff was so kind and attentive. There is paid street parking available along with garage parking throughout Rice Village that's complimentary for the first 2 hours. Overall, I enjoyed my first experience at Bluestone Lane and would love to come back to try their food!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved this spot in the middle of an outdoor mall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came here after a Pilates class and wanted to fuel up. I love how they have ample healthy options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is huge and they have outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was prompt and you can pay through an app for a faster check out. I got their plant based latte option and the soft chili scramble win avocado. It is a great place to stop while shopping and you can walk your food off after.

I've been thinking about these lemon ricotta pancakes ever since--so delicious! Lots of vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu (although nothing pictured here is GF). Love this place!

Given all the bougie locations where a Bluestone Lane exists, it only seems fitting to also have a presence in a place like Rice Village. On the surface everything looks pretty ship shape: ambiance is on point, plenty of natural lighting, brunch type foods for days, and an ideal setting for a solo lunch, a group meal, or just coffee on the go. First timers will notice how bright, clean, and inviting the space is, with a good amount of seating that include outdoor and indoor options. It is group and kid friendly, and serves as a solid destination for lunch meetings and coffee meetups. The food is not much to write home about, but for brunch and breakfast minded folks it should do the job. Bacon is crispy, the lemon ricotta pancakes look better than they taste, and despite the fabulous latte art, the coffee is also somewhat average as well. The avocado toast and soft chili scrambled have the presentation down but I can't help but feel the portions are a bit too modest. It goes without saying the prices are going to be on the higher side. The real achilles heel here is the service. On some days it's simply slow, and on others, it feels completely non-existent. It's been interesting seeing the changes and staff with every visit, but the end result has been the same. It's not enough to deter me, but I can see how it can rub the average party the wrong way. As a place of takeout, it definitely serves its purpose. Their bottled smoothies, salads, sandwiches, and wraps are definitely worthy for food on the go.

This Aussie inspired cafe is one of the cafes I like frequenting due to its space and laid back vibes. There is paid parking in front or a free garage right next to it for the first 2 hours as a Rice Village offer. The space is bright white with light blue hues and makes it a clean and modern looking space for cafe goers, brunch seekers, and beverage sippers or snack munchers to enjoy. I prefer this location to all the other Houston area Bluestone Lane cafes primarily because it is a larger cafe with ample seating space and convenient location. From almond (my fave here) and plain croissants to banana bread and savory scones (the cheddar is yum), and pancakes to savory sandwiches (truffle mushroom!), everything I've had were of good quality and tasty. The drinks on the other hand have been mostly a hit, though sometimes a miss depending on the barista (sad when it tastes watered down). I love their iced drinks the most, particularly their Iced Milo, Iced Mocha, Iced Chai, and Iced Aussie Latte. For hot drinks, I typically enjoy their Flat White, Cappuccino, and Hot Chocolate. They've also got kid friendly options too. There have been times where there has been great service as a sit down guest and other times not too good, especially very busy times/weekend morning rush. There also isn't a very clear concept on how the cafe is run, unless there's a team member at the front that brings you to a table, it feels a little isolating upon entrance and you can either find a table and seat yourself, or head to the counter to place an order. The QR codes are located on every table so you could also place an order that way and someone will bring it out to you. This review is more of a 3.5 star review, upgraded to a 4 star because of the quality of the food and drinks I've tried and the ease of placing orders in app for pickup. I use their app to place orders for when I only want to do a quick pick up and they'll typically have it ready by the time you arrive on the right hand side wall.

I saw this place so many times when I was in rice village and finally decided to stop by for lunch yesterday. Restaurant was abut empty during lunch hour. Ambiance was Ok. Food and service were good. We ordered the prosciutto with burrata and it was delicious. The spicy jam add the a touch of sweetness to the sandwich. The bread was toasted nicely. Crunchy on the outside and soft inside. I really like the sandwich. We also had the truffles mushrooms cheese. You can definitely smell the truffle mushrooms. It wasn't as good as the burrata but it's not bad at all. We also tried the new edition of Ouai-coffee and so good. Definitely a must try. The citrus orange burn definitely bring up the taste of the coffee. Glad that we stopped by.

Banana bread, athlete burrito, mocha latte, vanilla latte with almond milk and one pump of vanilla.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Aesthetics is great. Really cute atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the banana bread it comes with ricotta and berries with drizzle of honey. The banana bread was warm which made it really delicious. I paired it with a slightly sweetened coffee (vanilla latte with only 1 pump of vanilla to keep it minimally sweet). My friend got the athlete burrito and she enjoyed it. It's a little pricey but well worth it.

Came in for brunch today after a pilates event next door. We got seated right away for a party of 5, eventhough everyone wasn't there yet and the service was great!! I ordered the Chicken Pesto Toastie and got it with the Garlic aioli instead of the Chipotle aioli and oh my it was delish!! I also got the wedges instead of the chips and they were so gooood!! The crisp on the sourdough bread for the sandwich and the wedges was perfect!! I also ordered an iced vanilla latte, which was ok there was nothing special about it.

    Iced Mocha
    Ifoma O.

A nice and bright restaurant located conveniently in Rice Village (right next to one of the garages). The staff were also very friendly. I got the iced mocha (with oatmilk) which was a good size and did not have any residual chalkiness that you find with some mocha/chocolate drinks. I also got the breakfast sandwich (not pictured) with a side salad. Both were quite yummy- the sandwich is on the smaller size so you'd likely need a side to actually be relatively full. Lastly, the banana bread was a sweet end to the meal. It was not too sweet but was very visually appealing with all of the colors

I stopped by with a friend after a nearby fitness class. We were in workout clothes, so we grabbed a spot outside on the patio. Our server, Alyssa, was super sweet--she came right over, wiped down our table, brought us some water, and answered all our questions about the menu. To start, I had the Tropical Smoothie, which was refreshing and creamy thanks to the coconut milk. My friend went with a beet juice, which she enjoyed. For our meals, I had the Truffle Mushroom Grilled Cheese with a side of Tomato Soup--super satisfying. My friend had the Breakfast Bowl, packed with protein and warm veggies. We ended on a sweet note by sharing a Lemon Poppy Seed Muffin, and for our second round of drinks, I had a Golden Latte while she went with a Matcha Latte with coconut milk. Overall, great vibes, fresh food, and solid service. I'd definitely go back--next time maybe for brunch inside!

We all ordered different milks -- whole, skim, coconut, and oat -- and they were able to accommodate all of us! I really liked my iced latte, which was rich without being overly floral or sweet. The pastries were also a hit, including the lemon poppy muffin, cherry turnover, chocolate croissant, and the spinach, mushroom, and cheese danish. The outside of this coffee shop and apothecary doesn't exactly have curb appeal, but the inside is bright, clean, and stylish, combining sleek lines with softer botanical elements to create a welcoming space. The barista was... indifferent at best, borderline unfriendly at worst. We did ask a couple questions that seemed to irritate her, but we were the only people in there, so we weren't holding up a line or anything. It was a bummer to feel unwelcome, but we were getting the coffee and pastries to go regardless, so it didn't ruin our breakfast.

From a chat with the barista, I learned that Duo started because the husband had a love for coffee and the wife had a passion for pilates, so they thought "why not combine the two?" The River Oaks location is the founding store and they have since expanded to a second location as well. The people who work here truly seem happy and are eager to share the stories of their founders, which makes the place even more special. During my visit, I tried the birthday cake latte, which is a seasonal drink, and the flavors were also beyond what I've tried elsewhere. I'm typically not a fan of birthday cake flavored items, but I was feeling adventurous so I told the barista to surprise me with a drink from their menu and that's the flavor they ended up picking for me. When I received the birthday cake latte, I wasn't all that excited but all prejudice fell away after the first sip! I didn't adjust any sugar or ice levels like I typically do for my drinks, yet the drink was just right! Overall, I am just amazed by the people, the vision, and the gem of a place that I sort of happened into on a random weekend. I will definitely be returning again frequently for pilates, lattes, and/or fun conversations. Pro tip: initially it looks like visitors have to use street parking, but I confirmed with the staff that the parking lot across from the coffeehouse is free to use as well. Pro tip #2: there is option to order ahead with the QR code in image attached. I have not tried, but that may help skip the lines and make it easier for drink pickup.
