My friend and I met at Playa Bowls in Newington this afternoon. This location is pretty new. The inside is super cute with the summer and beach theme going pretty strong. They have surfboards hanging off the ceiling and the light blues are reminiscent of the water. They have a huge menu of açaí bowls, smoothies and juices. My friend got the Nutella Acai Bowl, I wanted the very similar Nutaya Pitaya Bowl. They must've misheard me, because we both got the same Acai bowls. This was ok with me, since they are pretty similar. The Nutella Acai Bowl features cold and refreshing acai, topped with granola, fresh strawberries, banana, coconut and plenty of melty Nutella. This was sweet and delicious, and a very generous portion. We enjoyed our bowls. We will be back to try more. read more

You guys I am obsessed with playa bowls ! It's sooooo good!!! They have a couple locations but recently opened up on the Berlin turnpike in Newington and I'm addicted ! Today I grabbed the Lola green bowl for lunch. I was worried it wasn't going to taste good ( because kale is not my favourite ) but I'm trying to eat a littler healthier . And it was amazing !!! Very sweet (not bitter ) the pineapple and mango added a nice sweet flavour and the blueberry granola and coco nut have it that nice crunch . the portions are a good size ( so I ate half for lunch and then ate the rest after work ) ! In the past I also tried the electric mermaid pitaya bowl and it's sooooo good too ! if you are trying to be healthy it's a great option compared to others , however there are still lots of calories and sugar in these bowls .. so be mindful . Overall 10/10 I'm super excited to try all the flavours so far everything I have tried has been amazing ! read more

I love the bowls and the variety and can always find something delish! The service is good and any questions are answered. My only complaint is that I'd REALLY LOVE for the calories and macros to be easy to find and out in the open, because a lot of us are paying attention (and searching for the info online will in line and holding things up gets frustrating and may irritate those behind you if you don't figure it out quickly)! Especially now that there's a Club Pilates two doors down and this is really convenient to run in and grab a nice cold refreshing bowl or smoothie after class. I'm a huge fan of Playa Bowls and was thrilled when I heard this one near my home was opening. Playa Bowls is easily one of my favorite national franchises. They've been in our family takeout rotation since they've opened and I've been a few times now. I almost always get the Dragonfruit Pitaya bowl and add Kiwi for the splash of green to the red and blue berries and to the violet frozen pitaya purée. Looks great. Tastes great. Playa Bowls is now open in Newington--boy was this place a fun vibe. I was surprised how spacious the place was with plenty of seats. The tropical feel came through with the bright colors, murals on the walls, and attention to decor and textures. The staff were very welcoming and were enthusiastic explaining their menu. I had never had a smoothie bowl before and I have a few food allergies, the staff took great care of me. The menu is very large with different types of smoothie bowls (different smoothie bases like açaí, mango, pitaya, coconut, green, etc), smoothies, juices and even iced coffee. I opted for the Mucho Mango bowl that had mango smoothie topped with blueberry flax granola, pineapple, banana, coconut flakes, and honey. The color was so vibrant (yellow is my favorite color, so extra bonus points for that). It cost $12, packed with a lot of fresh and perfectly ripped fruit. It was very filling, but I managed to finish it as it was too good to waste. The slices of bananas were my favorite part. I loved that it was cold, refreshing, light, and a great dessert alternative to treat yourself. My bowl's lid had an allergy sticker labeled on it too. I can see why people like these bowls so much, I think I'm hooked! Luckily, I'm in the area regularly so I can't wait to eat my way through the menu. I am eyeing the Matcha smoothie next. read more

I downloaded the app while eagerly awaiting the opening of this location. As a reward, I received a coupon for 15% off my order. Today I put that to good use and ordered a pink power pitaya bowl. Never tried pitaya before, so what better time? That said, not sure I would order it again. Is it supposed to be frozen? The granola topping seemed to have a lot of sugar in it. But the bananas were sliced and arranged perfectly. The to-go lid wasn't even remotely secure, so it's a good thing I was heading straight home. Maybe next time I'll eat at Playa Bowls. The indoor space is cute with a relaxed, beachy vibe, upbeat music, and flooded with natural light. So this location is new and I'm very happy with the space. This is the largest playa bowls I've been to and so much easier to find parking. The workers here are sweet. Although my bowl took a little longer to get than normal I will say it came out greattttt loved it. And to be fair; it seemed like they were making a bunch of online orders and a large group came in shortly after me and my friend. You may expect a bit of a wait as the area seems to get good business but the bowl is worth it for me. I paid about $16 including the tip (so around $14). The bowl is big guys, I think it's worth it as everything is fresh too. read more

I normally go to the Shelton location but was in Newington so I figured I'd stop in because Playa Bowls never disappoints.....until today. I would avoid this location at all costs. For what they charge for extra add ons they sure don't give you much. I paid $1 extra for literally 2 thin slices of kiwi, $1 extra for like 3-4 pieces of very small diced mango, $1 extra for not even an entire strawberry and $1 extra for a sprinkle of almonds. This bowl cost almost $17 and it was the most disappointing bowl I've ever had. Shame on this location, no wonder why they have a now hiring sign. read more

I like concerts and loud music, but in a business it would be nice to hear the employees when speaking to them. Turn the music down please! I placed an online order. Came in after the pick up time and had not been printed or started. I was at first told they had no order for me. It was then sloppily thrown together.
