Friday afternoon was a hot day. I was driving back from a photoshoot outdoors in downtown and was looking for something healthy and refreshing to drink. When I was searching online for a place on the way home, I found Smoothie King. Also, I saw something about $5 Fridays. I called to ask about it and the promotion was happening. It's $5 for a 32-ounce smoothie! There were so many choices on the wall of the menu but I did have berries in mind. The Immunity Booster was what I wanted but not too crazy about almond milk and would like to replace that with coconut water. Sure enough, they were able to make that change. The only downside was not being told about the extra charge for the coconut water. 32-ounces is a lot of smoothie for sure. As thirsty as I was, I really couldn't finish the whole thing. This location is near the Costco and Jason's Deli. I came for the Veterans day promotion. They had two members working and they did a pretty good job keeping up with the demand. It was a minimal wait for my strawberry extreme smoothie and I was impressed. The smoothie was fresh and packed with strawberries. It was really a treat to enjoy while driving around town. The service is amazing! The workers here are extremely sweet and considering of others, and they're trying their best. I love how the smoothie bowls are made to ensure the customer gets every bit of it stuffed, Combined with the yummy toppings! Very few smoothie spots around this area and Smoothie King hasn't let me down with their carrot kale dream smoothie. Not only is it only 400 calories for a medium but it's super filling. You can add whey protein for an extra 99 cents; however, take advantage of their rewards program which is easy to accrue a few bucks off. They have a Friday special currently for 32oz smoothies at $5 which is a steal in my books. Take my money and let me go steal. NUT ALLERGY BEWARE This is my favorite smoothie king in the area. Which makes this even more upsetting. My daughter and I were there around 6 this evening and ordered our smoothies. I have severe allergies and never go anywhere without my epi pen. While waiting for mine to be made the young lady made a smoothie in the blender marked everywhere on it that said "no nuts, no peanut butter, no soy" etc... As she is adding Peanut butter, I mentioned that it is the mixer for no allergens and she ignores me. I mention it again and she says Ma'am I will wash it. She makes a smoothie with all the allergens in it, sprays the container for 4 seconds in the sink and goes to make another smoothie in it. Me personally it would kill. They did not take very long to prepare our smoothies and the gentleman that brought them to the car was very friendly & professional. He even complimented my car so bonus points for that! I just want to this location with my family, and it was the worst experience of our lives. There is absolutely no drive when it comes to customer service. The cashier who served us was completely unprofessional, she treated us as if we were bothering her. She had gotten made about our preferred payment, and gave us major attitude when we asked about the menu. Due to this we couldn't even get our order in, and needed to elsewhere. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cruel, and we will never go back. I do not recommend anyone to come to this location. Oh wow! Guess what I found here? More of the same unsanitary conditions with dirty canisters and dirty counters. Look at the door to the kitchen! They are not even trying to sweep the dead crickets up. This place was so gross!! I found out that it was owned by the same person who owns the Bulverde store. They also had a health inspection last week I am sure. I go to the very clean one off of Pat Booker or the one off of Nacogdoches. Just sticky disgusting counters. Look down at the floors too. Yuck! My smoothie normally always taste good from here but this specific store really needs to hire more people, have more workers scheduled, or get new staff. Every time I come to this location I wait for my smoothie for a minimum of 15 minutes and that's on a good day. Smoothie King would win my vote for overstimulated the brain, even without the smoothie part. Where do you look in a place like this? Vivid colors and excessive writing on the walls make you go gaga. Luckily for me, the cashier was helpful. She asked me what fruit I like. I said mangoes, bananas, oranges. So she showed me how I could get the Ultra Trim and substitute out a fruit for the banana. My boyfriend and I placed our order online at 8:35pm and arrived at Smoothie King at 8:40pm (this location closed at 9pm today). So we got down and headed toward the doors, and as my boyfriend is opening the door we realize... they're locked. AT 8:40??? 20 minutes prior to when they "close". There are two teenage girls inside the store who see my boyfriend and I and continue to ignore us. Mind you, we can literally see our smoothie inside the store just sitting in the little mobile order pick up area. We continue to try to open the door when one of the girls mouths to us, " Our ice machine is broken." (which is clearly not true LMAO) . My boyfriend and I both laugh and point to our smoothie saying that's ours ? Like how are we supposed go get the smoothie we already payed for if you wont open the door...? & you aren't even closed. She finally walks over to the door, unlocks it, and says "Can I help you?", making sure to be sassy. I say, "we need our smoothie", pointing to THE ALREADY MADE SMOOTHIE. And she quickly switches up by saying " Oh! Here you go! Haha our machine broke right after we made your smoothie (YEA OK LOL) so we just thought it was easier to close 20 minutes early."
