This was the 2nd Smoothie King I've been to in the metro Detroit area and both were equally good. The staff is quick, efficient, and friendly. Parking is close and free. Drove 30mins in a heavy rain just to try one of these, and I have to tell you it was worth it! Got a keto chocolate smoothie with added peanut butter and got a keto coffee with added peanut butter to go. The chocolate one was the winner! I added pb to both as they were offering free add ons. It was excellent! There was still about ~19carbs, so definitely a treat and kinda glad there aren't any closer to me! First saw a SK in Ohio nr Cincinnati last October but I was with a friend and he didn't seem interested in stopping and I was like I really want to go there (in my head). Later I discovered there was one in Flint, (it didn't work out for me to stop when driving up north tho), and then I found our there were a few in the metro Detroit area including one in St Clair Shores, ~30m from my home. This place kicks Tropical Smoothies a**. With a vegan menu, calorie counts, an app, prompt service, flexible hours, and clean stylish interior, it's an excellent addition to the area. The employees have been nothing but friendly and the quality is great, it's blended perfectly and lasts long enough that it's not melted in a half hour. A great after gym place too as they have a lot of proteins, probiotics, energy drinks (natural ), and performance enhancers. I like knowing what goes in my product and prices are comparable. I feel like maybe the owner is a little schmoozy, you don't get a super genuine vibe from him, but maybe he's trying too hard. The products they serve are total garbage in comparison with other smoothie businesses. Their website brags about how they don't put any artificial colors, flavors or preservatives in their smoothies, but they still use "natural flavors," which are usually sourced from animal products such as anal glands. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Nino Salvaggio's and buy some fresh fruits, vegetables & juices and make a smoothie at home. Smoothie places are supposed to be a healthy choice for food and beverage, but the amount of sweeteners they add to their smoothies makes them as bad for you as drinking a Coke. I ordered through the drive-thru yesterday, Sunday, 12/08/19 around 1:00 PM and they got my order wrong. I ordered a twenty ounce The Activator strawberry banana and a twelve ounce Lil' Angel strawberry banana. She said the order back to me and this is what I heard, "So I have a twenty ounce...strawberry banana and a Lil' Angel strawberry banana." I said yes, but I was confused why she didn't say, "So I have a twenty ounce Activator strawberry banana..." I gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed that the microphone cut out. When I got to the window to pay, I gave the girl my credit card and she gave me my card back with my receipt. The receipt showed that I paid for a twenty ounce Angel Food smoothie. She ran off to make some orders, so I knocked on the window. She came back and I said, "Did you guys already start making the smoothie? I actually asked for The Activator." She said, "She already started making it." I said, "Okay, don't worry about it then." It took ten minutes for me to get my order and I don't understand why it took ten minutes to make two smoothies. I could have gotten a sandwich at Five Guys or Jimmy Johns faster than I got a smoothie at this place. I tried both smoothies and quite frankly, I could barely taste the fruits in them. The amount of sweeteners completely overwhelmed any slight taste of real fruit. Here are the main reasons why this experience was so irritating. All of the information below was taken directly from their website. The Activator strawberry banana smoothie is made with strawberries, bananas, Gladiator Protein Vanilla powder, & Coconut Water. Twenty ounces has two hundred calories, two grams of fat, twenty-four grams of carbohydrates, & twenty-three grams of protein. It has thirteen grams of sugar & no added sugar. The Gladiator Protein Vanilla powder has twenty-five calories, no sugar, no fat, and five grams of protein per serving. The Angel Food smoothie is made with strawberries (has added sugar), bananas, vanilla flavor with other natural flavors, nonfat milk, & Turbinado. Twenty ounces has a whopping three hundred fifty calories, eighty-four grams of carbohydrates, no fat, and five grams of protein. It has seventy grams of sugar, which includes fifty grams of added sugar. One serving of Turbinado has one hundred calories and twenty-five grams of carbohydrates and contains twenty-four grams of sugar. Let's put this into perspective real quick. A double cheeseburger at McDonald's has four hundred thirty-seven calories and twenty-nine grams of carbohydrates. So, I paid $6 for something I was hoping was going to be nutritious and delicious, but I got something that was almost as unhealthy as a sandwich at McDonald's and it tasted worse than a shake from McDonald's. I drank about two ounces of it and threw the rest out. I ended up throwing out the Lil' Angel too, which was made with bananas, strawberries (has added sugar) & Multivitamin Enhancer. Twelve ounces had one hundred ninety calories, fifty grams of carbohydrates & less than one gram of protein. It contained thirty-seven grams of sugar, which included twenty-six grams of added sugar. Smoothie King has a "commitment to blend a more nutritious smoothie. From the bottom of the cup up," but I saw very little nutritional value in the majority of the products listed on their website. In addition, if they are focused on being "nutritious," then why even offer "break time blends" such as the Angel Food smoothie? My husband has been raving about Smoothie King for years. He was so excited for this location to open and so was I based on his constant comparison of any and all smoothies to theirs. We went through the drive through and there were only two cars in front of us but it took a really long tine. About 20 minutes until we got to the window. I don't know if it's the fruit they use or what but both of ours were so sour they were hard to drink. Both were melted by the time we got them and like others have stated, they were filled 2/3 inches from the rim. Being melted already I would hate to see what it looked like beforehand. I got the peach slice and he got a berry one. The staff was very friendly. Maybe the staff just needs more training? Maybe I will try it in the faraway future if they last there and are more established. read more

Yay! I now have another place to go to when I want to kid myself I'm being healthy! My problem right now is I'm trying to kick my afternoon coffee habit. The good news? When I skip coffee my heartburn is much better. The bad news? I'm not drinking my afternoon coffee. Need I say more?? So in an effort to find an occasional substitute when I'm out and about or too lazy to make a smoothie at home, I have found this place. Kind of strange we're having a sort of "smoothie explosion" here in Chesterfield, what with Tropical Smoothie right across the street. It's cute inside, and the employees were helpful enough. Good thing too, since the menu is HUGE. I have been here twice and enjoyed the smoothies, though I enjoyed the first one better. Don't remember what it was but it involved bananas, mangos, and strawberries. Second one was the berry immunity booster on a day I was feeling a little off. I have no complaints about the taste of the two fruit ones I tried. I haven't tried the kinds with veggies but hear from the employee they're better than I'd expect and don't taste like veggies. So this brings us to the next fact: smoothies at these places (not just Smoothie King) are loaded--and I do mean loaded!--with sugar. Which is why they taste so good. Once I made a veggie/fruit smoothie at home and it was disgusting. I tried but couldn't get it down. I have no doubt it would be better here. But look at the menu. For example, a small fruit smoothie has roughly 52 grams of sugar. Yes, they do offer low sugar smoothies, which is great. I can't order those though, because they use Stevia and Stevia tastes like poison to me. Bummer. It's kind of fun how you can add extras such as multivitamins, protein, probiotics, or something that will supposedly give you energy. That's nice, but what isn't nice is the price: $7 for a small and that was on "buy one extra add-in, get one free" day. But no one ever said fancy drinks of any kind are cheap, whether it's coffee, boba, or a smoothie. That said, these things are still more than a large Starbucks latte. In the end, I guess this place will be a nice occasional treat when I'm out and about and trying hard not to have my afternoon coffee...sniff sniff. read more

I like their selection and the taste but the smoothie makers are terrible. They never fill the cups all the way up. I saw there was lots of smoothies left in the blenders. They were lazy to use a spoon to get all the smoothie from the bottom. They just threw it away. It was a waste. The smoothie wasn't cheap as well. It was $8 for the medium size. I'm done with this place. The workers never care about the customer in my opinion. There used to be a girl who worked here that proved she cared but she is no longer there. I have been going here for a few years but I am done. In the past I complained about how if you order a smoothie here that you would receive way less actual smoothie than the cup held. They have since adjusted that somewhat. I went here today to get a smoothie. I drive a very tall van that will not fit in the drive-thru. I went inside to order and was told no you cannot order in here you either have to drive through or order online. I did explain my vehicle is too tall to drive through. She said the only other way to order is to order online. The thing is I was already inside. They do not care about helping the customer because they could have taken my order right there but nope- "corporate policy" I'm sure. Well I'm done. I used to go here 2-4 days a week now never again. I wish I could give a negative star.... this is absolutely terrible.... went in the drive thru, the menu is way too confusing, the attendant helped me out graciously... so I ordered a green type smoothie 20 oz and a 32 oz for my son a health fitness type . Not even sure what they were but I took the attendants advise... when I pulled up to the window , you could see the shake maker was trying to scoop every last drop from the blender , well it didn't fill the cup it was 3 inches below the rim for the big smoothie and the smaller one was about 2 inches below.... when the attendant handed it to me , I looked at him and said are you serious, he smiled and gave them too me and when I looked at him and said you are nuts, I will never effing come back here again , he continued to smile and not even try to fix the problem..... well I left, then the bad part , these were discussing, the green one still had leaves of spinach not ground up and way too much ice and 30 minutes later were still frozen, the other one I took to my sons school for his lunch and he text me 20 minutes later how terrible it was and he threw it away....
