I can get into a Seymour from Ghost World mood when contemplating Smorgasburgs. "Actually, technically, um, what he was mostly playing would be more accurately classified in the ragtime idiom." The Williamsburg one feels more pure. Or is it just travel time bias? Wah Gwaan is one of the classics, with jerk tacos finding unexpected uses for fruit in a supporting role. Today I enjoyed the bake and shark from Tanty Darlene's. Get it with everything for a sweet-and-spicy marvel. It is legal to get all four sauces. You'll also find enjoyable sauces at the Thai pork purveyor Pig Me Up, plus the refreshing Dang Manow soda. In vendor abundance, seating and outhouse quality, Williamsburg ranks higher. The last issue will become less crucial when/if the main park bathroom reopens.
Smorgasburg in Prospect Park is a must if you're a foodie or just love trying new things. The variety of vendors is incredible...everything from authentic Asian street food to Caribbean bites, gourmet burgers, vegan eats, and so much more. You could honestly spend hours just wandering around and still not try everything. One highlight for me was the sugar cookie ice cream sandwich; absolute perfection. The cookies were soft, buttery, and just the right amount of sweet, and the ice cream in the middle was creamy and refreshing. It was one of those desserts you don't want to share (but you probably should). The park setting makes it even better, you can grab your food and sit out on the grass, enjoy music or just people-watch. It's a great way to spend a weekend afternoon in Brooklyn. Come hungry and wear comfy shoes...you'll be walking and snacking the whole time!
If you want to have a bao with all bao (bread) and not much filling this is where to go. I was surprised by how little filling there was. What was there was alright, nothing spectacular, but hard to overlook that glaring fact of small portions especially since it is quite pricey. Overall, unfortunately to say, that this place is worth it to skip.
Smorgasburg is always fun. There are about 20 plus food vendors. There some picnic tables available for seating. I understand you want to attract people to the area, but the music is just a little bit too loud. The prices are about $8-$30 depending on what you want. Everything looks so delicious. Got here around noon and there's a short line to most of the vendors. The crowd did pick up around 1:30ish.
We were so excited to check out the vendors at their Prospect Park location on a Sunday. Smorgasburg has more savory food than sweets as there are many savory street food or even whole meal options, featuring different world cuisines. Honestly all the food stalls looked so tempting. The general price point of each vendor is quite high (~$10+ for food) but it's worth trying for the vibes and fun times with friends/fam. ＊The Pincho Truck The pork chunks were more tender and juicier than I expected. Well marinated and glazed in a sweet and savory BBQ sauce. The set came with two tostones with spicy mayo and a slice of bread. This is my first time trying tostones, which are some crispy fried plantains. A solid savory food stall to give it a try. ＊Common Meadows Creamery I preferred the yuzu one as it had a sorbet-like icy texture. Not too sweet and perfect for summer. The fig one was creamier and richer, but also got a bit heavier and sweeter towards the end. ＊Twig.m We got half soy garlic chicken and half gochujang spicy chicken. Our fried chicken was made to order, and it was served steaming hot! Don't burn your tongue when you eat lol. My friend couldn't handle the spicy side, while I really loved the spicy kick from the gochujang sauce (I would love it even more if it was spicier). Soy garlic lacked some flavor imo as I wanted it to be more garlicky. ＊Lisbonata The shell was soggy. The center is melty and custardy like what an authentic pastel de nata should be. Beware that the egg tarts melt easily under the heat. The pistachio cream flavor was really delicious. On the sweeter side as they used condensed milk. ＊ Vermont Maple Lemonade SOOO REFRESHING! We were soaked in sweat and their maple lemonade quenched our thirst. Every sip is a delight. I'm typically not a fan of mint but the fresh mint one was delectable. I also enjoyed the peach one I got. The subtle sweetness from the maple syrup elevated the drinks.
I love going to Smorgasburg, even though it's quite difficult to get to when you're driving. The food is amazing and quite diverse. Services is always friendly and helpful. There is one caveat, your best bet is to get there when they open, or within the first hour. This is when the lines are almost nonexistent and you can pick and choose all the food that you'd like. There are several picnic tables and a lawn area inside the circle of stalls. If you come at this time, you will be able to eat at some of the tables. Once it becomes afternoon, everything changes. The lines become super long and you will have to wait a long time just to get food from one stall. I can honestly say, all of the food that I chose was delicious and made me quite happy .
This was the second time I came to Smorgasburg at Prospect Park. This time it was for Lumpia Fest. So there was pop up Filipino stands that aren't normally there. I throughly enjoyed trying various lumpia and ube flavored desserts. A staple in Smorgasburg is the Vermont Maple drinks highly recommend! 5 dollars for a good thirst quencher my fave is guava. It is crowded here so keep that in mind but some stands have QR codes that you can order ahead of time.
I came here on a Sunday afternoon with friends. I've never been to this location, only Williamsburg. This location seems to have less vendors but definitely less crowded. I didn't have to wait for any vendor at all and I went to a few of them. I tried the 5 baos (lamb, pork, chicken, beef, shitake mushroom) from Mao's Bao, chicken satay skewers from Indonesian Street Food, jerk chicken and rasta pasta from Treat Yourself Jerk, and matcha red bean bulldog taiyaki (waffle with filling) from Tojo's Kitchen. I liked the baos and the taiyaki the most. I would definitely come back! There's so much food to try!
I love the event. Many vegan options but little to no Gluten free options. The only thing I was safely able to have was mango from a stall, some elotes and some drinks. Everything I had was good. This rating is mainly because I couldn't truly enjoy it but I would recommend it to everyone.
It was my first time going, and I'm glad I got a chance to breeze through. I tried three different vendors, one for each part of the meal. The giant pomme frites are delicious, and the maple lemonade drinks made us return for another round. The bao buns were also pretty tasty, and the atmosphere was family-oriented and fun. The duck fat burger, on the other hand, was not so great (overcooked & underseasoned). But I will definitely come back to try more vendors next year!
Located by a lot of busses and major train lines about a five minute walk up a mini hill It was a scorcher today with limited seating and even more limited shade but we were determined to make the best of it. Had a BBQ shrimp po boy from Parish Po Boys, a burger from Burger Supreme, cookers from Bang Cookies and Ice cream from BONA ice cream ... everything was delicious. My only gripe was that everything was so expensive and the portions sizes didn't justify the prices. I understand the concept but you come wanting to try multiple dishes, you will be out almost 60 bucks! I would recommend it to try once but the cost adds up
What to do on a dreary sky Mother's Day. Go to Smorgasbord in Prospect Park to avoid all the long lines. Pursued the hill for delicious treats while prepared with our empty to go containers after hitting the lottery number last night so budget was no concern. Bark BBQ was the first stop, no plate offerings this weekend everything a la carte. Meat and sides delicious as always, happy to support a small business owner with his success especially when his product is excellent. Beef rib was $36 per pound including the bone. Brisket $18 pound and sides $4 each. Pastries in a box from Julien boulangerie always taste better because he speaks French which is wonderful to listen to. So fresh and so tasty. Strawberry Madeline's were 3 for $10. Get one of everything that looks good to you. Red Hook Lobster, get the Connecticut hot butter roll, eat it while its hot. It disappears in a heart beat and for $26 you'll still be hungry but it's so good. D'Abruzzo lamb skewers, meaty salty Heaven on a stick, 5 for $12 or $3 for one. Birria LES, New to the hill, the beef birria tacos which are all the rage are over stuffed with meat. The sharp onion is a nice break to all the meaty goodness. The cheese wasn't noticeable, $5 each. I've been coming here for years-- ALWAYS A GOOD TIME. The food here is sooo delish. I always go for some oysters first for starters. They are so fresh and tasty. This year there's a different vendor- Oyster Party. This time around- the best seller for me was the Duck Fat Fries with Duck Bacon. It's a bang for your buck. Super delicious and very filling. I also got a cool corn dog/cheese stick. That was very different but delicious. I got a Vermont Maple Syrup Lemonade which is refreshing but not overly sweet. Suggestion is to bring a blanket and sprawl out anywhere and enjoy the food! read more

You will not be disappointed in anyway the amount of different foods they have will satisfy everyone in your families palate. Everyone is nice very personable and patient. If you don't know what you want I would say definitely stop by Sugarhill creamery because they low-key have the best peach cobbler icecream ever in life. the bathrooms are really really crowded though I'm talking about 30 minute wait and it's a unisex bathroom but besides that if I could go there every weekend and not gain weight, I would say that I was showed nothing but love and that I was welcome. Even my kids enjoyed themselves. This is a great date night idea. read more
While I'm partial to the Williamsburg location, I still enjoyed myself. Hubby, my son, daughter and I met up with our cousin here for some foodie times and to visit with each other. The walk to the event location was nice. It reminded me of when my girlfriend and I were making our way to the start of this year's NYC half marathon because it was pretty much in the same place as where we had to walk to the start. There's a beautiful lake in the park by which we walked, from our parking spot. There are also some interesting structures in the park, some of which we checked out. We made the rounds a couple of times so that we could decide upon exactly what we wanted to try. It was very hot and humid this particular day so we were trying to attack, eat and leave as quickly as possible. Our cousin lives nearby so we planned on going back to her house after we grubbed. From crawfish mac & cheese to lobster rolls and dumings, we enjoyed a myriad of dishes, each better than the last. I love that they have plenty of free water for everyone so that no one ends up dehydrated and in danger. There were not many places to really sit and enjoy your food, especially with the place being so packed so we stood and ate quickly and then headed to our cousin's house for wine and dessert. I prefer the other location just because I feel there's more of an opportunity to sit and relax and the views are way better in Williamsburg. read more
You wake up with the brilliant idea of having a picnic but don't want to do the work. Voila ! I present to you the best way to have a picnic. We came here with our picnic blankets, chairs and of course our music. Everyone was able to kick back, relax, pick and choose what they wanted to eat and drink. Had a great Sunday afternoon relaxing in the park! Home Frite- The truffle fries were spot on!! Bang cookies were definitely banging !! Big Mozz, oh that crunch D'Abruzzo, lamb stole the show, skip the chicken Julien Boulangerie,, YES PLEASE !!! Vermont maple lemonade- Wah Gwaan- loved the creative taco's Kinoko- light food, fun options, pricey Wood fired Edibles- Tasty but pricey, if you really want pizza. Rosie's Empanada's - hit or miss Bao Tea House - Butterfly pea flower lemonade did not have much flavor just looked very pretty. Mao's Bao's- Can we not dump all the lamb and veggie bao's on the same platter!?!?!?!?Respect the vegetarians please. Summer is short! I've never been to Smorgasborg so when my son insisted that we go to the opening Sunday I figured why not?! This event attracts A LOT of people so if you are a foodie like me prepare to get there right at the opening (around 11 am) as you will probably spend a lot of time waiting on long lines. Overall a great opportunity to hang out with friends in beautiful Prospect park read more
I love smorgasburg but hate the crowds.. today I went at 4pm on a cloudy day with a high chance of rain.. ZERO lines.. it was perfect. I had the shrimp and totes combo from Ha Tao shrimp house.. there are multiple sauces to choose from. I chose the soy garlic sauce (way too salty) next time I'd go with sweet chili.. the totes were very good. I had the BLT lobster roll from red hook lobster.. *chefs kisses*.. I'd rate it a 10. My cousin had jerk chicken tacos with an apple and cucumber salsa.. delicious. She also had the double check burger from smash burger.. everything was a 10 minus my shrimp. Can't wait to return on another gloomy day lol read more
So the selection of food here is immaculate! A great place to bring friends and family, espeically because the options are endless. there will be a meal for everyone's taste buds. this is my second week going and here's what we got: - lobster truffle garlic fries: the portion size is HUGE for this, you could share it with 2-3 people. it's delicious, and yes it's as good as it sounds. garlicy, buttery, crispy truffle friends topped with lobster. - lobster garlic pasta: this is a similar vibe but in pasta form. i liked this a lot, i wish it was more sauce because you only get noodles but it's still really good and chewy! - pork brisket with cole slaw: this was $20 and not worth it. i mean the price just doesn't match the quantity you're getting. the meat was delicious but the slaw was $6 which is insane. i'd recommend you get the pulled pork burger instead. - japanese okonomiyaki: this was fantastic. it's a friend japanese veggie pancake topped with chicken, sweet sauce, and kewpie mayo. it was delicious, so filling and loaded with flavor in every bite. overall, this food fest is super fun and i would recommend to those who've never been! it's hard to choose bc all the vendors are great so i'd recommend going with a friend and sharing a bunch of things! read more
I like the idea of Smorgasburg. All those food vendors. The energy. The 'eat local' vibe. I like that you can try a wide assortment of stuff in an afternoon of hanging at the park. But I don't love the cramped feeling, despite being in a huge park. Vendors are right next to each other, which means the lines to get food at said vendor are right next to each other. As the afternoon beats on - the Smorgasburg section of the park gets soooo crowded. In an environment where you (or maybe just me?) might want to lazily walk from booth to booth looking for your next foodie adventure there just ends up being too many people and maybe a bit overwhelming. The food I've tried tho has been good. Butternut squash donuts. Honey Lemonade. Wowfulls!? Prices range from as little as a $1.50 for a donut, up to $13 for a sandwich. Seating is limited in the Smorgasburg area - but as mentioned - the park is huge. So next time I'll probably get there early, get my food and go find a quiet spot elsewhere in the park for lunch. read more
Like the OG Smorgasburg in Williamsburg, this was a little overpriced and the food was, let's be honest, just fine. Unlike the OG Smorgasburg, this one has ample seating, isn't aggressively packed with tourists, has discounts available for those using Apple Pay, and there's plenty of shopping in addition to bocce. While the selection of vendors is significantly limited, I'd choose this one over the Wburg one any day. It was almost a breath of fresh air to only have 10 or so places to choose from. I had a cheesesteak (whole $13, half $8) from this place called Federoff's that I guess has a food truck in Greenpoint? It wasn't huge but was absolutely delicious. As with everything else, it cost probably 10-20% more than it should have, but still a cheap meal for the city. My friends tried a few things including the ramen, which got decent reviews, and some sort of dosa with chicken which I thought was delicious. There's a bar with a few beers on tap to try. I had an other half IPA, which at $8 for a pint is one of the few things that's weirdly not overpriced at all. Bartender was funny too - kinda poked at the fact that I looked nothing like my ID (I get it all the time since I dyed my hair). After eating, we shopped a little bit. Lots of locally made jewelry to look at. "Thrift stores" here are insane - skip the vintage Armani coat for $250 and go to Beacon's Closet instead to get the same thing for $60. LOVED mao bao and the mango vermont maple lemonade. The lychee in the bubble tea was amazing also. The chicken nuggets at japanese fried chicken was bland unfortunately. This was disappointing because I've had their chicken sandwich before and it was delicious. Ice cream sandwich was really yummy also, but the cookie was too hard and kept cracking in big chunks. The jerk chicken taco and hand rolls were yummy also. The food options were a good variety, and I didn't get to try everything before becoming full. I just wish they had more drink options. Also, went to queens night market the night before and I saw the same bao buns for twice as much at Smorgasburg. Deff overpriced but still worth it for the experience imo. Lines get longer later in the day so go early. read more
My first Smorgasburg experience was just a couple of weeks ago at the Prospect Park location on a Sunday. Wish I had a bigger stomach to try all the things I wanted to try, but I only got to try three things... Fried artichoke and shrimp cone (Bon Chovie): I wanted to try the fried artichoke, but didn't want to commit to a whole cone, so they told me I could do half artichoke and half shrimp. I thought the price would be around the same as one cone of the same thing, but I ended up having to pay like $5 extra. Didn't think it was worth that much, but at least I got to try the fried artichoke. I mean, it wasn't that great. I actually thought the fried shrimp was better. Cheese fries: YUM. And also in a cone. Grass-fed butter and molasses coffee: The first sip I had was very good and I thought I liked it. Then I kept drinking and realized how quickly it was losing its initial appeal. I ended up only drinking about 3/4 of the cup. Toward the end, it started to just taste like watered down soup? Loved the variety of vendors! read more

Yay!!! Smorgasburg is back for the season. Bring a picnic blanket and plant yourself on the central lawn for the afternoon. Too many delicious vendors to list, but on this outing, we started with Triple Fat Fries from the always reliable Duck Season, tried the delicious Battered Shrimp from the newcomer Ha Tao , and finished with a baklava ice cream sandwich from another newcomer, Bibi bakery. Loved them all but particularly loved the shrimp, and need to go back and try their other shrimp dishes next time. read more
You know it's a good Sunday when your day starts with lobster nachos, iced lavender matcha tea, and a Thai iced tea fudgesicle. We arrived to Smorgasburg a little after noon and were able to grab a shaded spot on the ground (bring a blanket!). There are a lot of picnic tables so you can maybe snag one but don't count on it after 1 or so when the crowd starts to pick up. I'm very indecisive when it comes to food choices so multiple laps were needed before I landed on what I wanted to order, but that's all part of the joy of it! No matter what you're in the mood for, you'll find it here. My friends enjoyed everything from Red Hook lobster rolls and a vegetarian BLT, to fruit juice straight out of a watermelon and giant mozzarella sticks. I loved how navigable the setup is and it really never felt *too* crowded. Most vendors take Square but some are cash only, so bring cash or use the ATM on the way in. And yes, there's alcohol! read more

A little bit of everything for everyone, from vegan option, gf, noodle, sandwiches, meats, tacos, gyro, fresh drinks and desserts. I suggest walking around all the vendors once and then decide what you should get. Have a few options and share the bite. Everything is delicious! The more you walk and burn off the calorie the more you may want to try. Try to go on a breezy day or early evening, it can get crowded and very hot. read more

Smorgasburg is a Food Festival that's happening at Prospect Park on Sundays from April to October. They have other locations for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It's definitely a must for foodies! People bring camping chairs and picnic blankets to lie around for the festivities. There are a bunch of different vendors to try all type of foods from. I tried the oysters and lobster roll from Oyster Party which was amazing! I even added caviar to one of the oysters which was exquisite. My next stop was Yakitori Tatsu. They had the best skewers ever! I had the squid, scallop, eel, and chicken sewers and they were delicious. I also tried the Crawfish Mac at Parish Po Boys, the Lobster Roll at Red Hook Lobster Pound, and a Single burger from Smashed. Everything tasted so good, nothing was disappointing. It's definitely an all day event because you'll need time to try the different vendors. If it's nice enough, you can grab a Citi bike and ride around the park or you can go to the zoo. It's definitely a great time! You can bring the kids or the dog! It's family friendly for sure. read more
There are so many food vendors at Smorgasburg! Just remember that they're only here Sundays in Prospect Park, and for Saturdays they're in Williamsburg. There's bathrooms and sinks and most places do seem to take card. The vendors that I've tried are: Ube Kitchen - As their name suggests, they sell ube items. Last summer I ordered their halo halo in a dragon bowl, and this summer I opted for their ube scoop on salted pretzel cone. Portions are small for the price, but I really liked their ube (although I can't say the same for their cone). Koku - $13 for a chilled soft serve bowl in a coconut. This was much tinier than expected and the coconut bits were not edible because all the good parts were scraped off cleanly already. They put interesting things in these bowls such as ginger. I'm not a huge fan, but admittedly I got this because it looks nice. Maos Baos - I tried one of every flavor (vegetable aka impossible bao, chicken, pork, and beef). It was 4 for $10 and all the flavors were great except for the vegetable one. It seemed very heavy on sesame and just didn't seem worth when the other options were much tastier. Matchaful - When you order, they ask for your spirit animal instead of your name. This was so perfect for a hot day at Smorgasburg. I'm rarely satisfied with matcha drinks but I really enjoyed this one. read more
Fun foodie event! So many cool vendors and unique dishes. The park was packed but it wasn't overwhelming. There were no lines and everyone was so nice and excited to show off their creations. The mozzarella sticks there were out of this world and the shaved ice potentionally ruined other ice cream for me forever. This is the perfect event for a date night, a solo adventure, or to bring your whole family. Highly recommend!! read more

Amazing. Pricey, but amazing. Everything is overpriced, one hundred percent. I just love how unique a lot of the things are and how they cater to absolutely everyone! From vegetarians/vegan to carnivores...everyone has something to munch on! I go there and I splurge every-time on all the unique and lovely stuff! Every Sunday and it's a must go! PET FRIENDLY. BRING CASH TO AVOID ATM LINES! If your not cool with water stations bring your own water or a bottle of water to fill. They have dog bowls for the furry thirsty friends. Many people bring blankets to eat on the grass. I can't even single out one thing to get. Everything is amazing and a must try!! Crowds can get really annoying but whatever, foods worth it. Yum! This location is a little more hidden from the smorgasburg in Williamsburg. your best bet is to either drive or take public transportation to prospect park subway station. The EASIEST way to find this location is if you enter from the street via Lincoln avenue. If you make my mistake and enter parkside avenue, you will have to try to find the location walking along the skater park and up a hill. So save yourself the exploration and just enter via Lincoln avenue. Bring cash and a friend. this is the kind of event where if you want to try everything or multiple items the best way is to split everything you purchased! Cash only! I only saw one booth (the melted cheese on a bread) booth that accepted credit cards only. There is an ATM next to the portopottys Bring a reusable water bottle. Great job smorgasburg for not making us pay for water bottles! The water station is cold too which is a great perk. Use your money on food #priorities. There is a bar with beer and wine. Here are the items we tried: Churros with nutella: it was okay. Good to try once but nothing fabulous to write home about fried cookie "do" balls: brownie batter, cookie dough and cake batter: HIGHLY RECOMMEND. would get again. Melts in your mouth. Philly cheesesteak: you know they have to be good if they sold out midday and had to wait for more cheese. Big mozz sticks: have gotten these super sized mozz sticks before and will get again Dough: the most amazing donuts for $3.75 each. Loved my cinnamon sugar one. So beautiful Also got the Mexican corn and mango on a stick from the same booth! Was good to try once The home frite fries were sold out but we got them last time in Williamsburg. Must get and must get it early because once they sold out that's it!! read more
After visiting Smorgasburg Jersey City, I knew that Smorgasburg Prospect Park had to be the next stop! There had to be around 30+ vendors and the layout was almost amusement park-like. Lots of room for a lot of hungry people! I was very impressed with the selection of vendors and the different options that were available. A lot of the vendors have loyal followings and great reviews online, so it's nice to have them all in one spot! Smorgasburg ensures that each vendor are able to shine with their specialties by adding a diverse range of foods. Whether you want vegan BBQ or potatoes fried in duck fat, Smorgasburg Prospect Park had it ALL! I would recommend visiting with friends and family so that everyone can enjoy amazing local food and have a great time outside. I liked that there were benches available and a bar that served alcohol, so you can wind down as well. Some of my favorite vendors when I visited were: *Bona Bona *Buttah *Big Mozz *Dylana's Sweet Treats (PLEASE try their chocolate croissant bread pudding!) All the vendors seem excited to be there and the atmosphere is inviting and friendly. A bunch of foodies coming together to enjoy food is always a beautiful thing!! We were there on Sunday to get some dessert on a hot day. There are a lot of vendors and the place is very crowded . There is an info tent and a tent with free water. We've got ice cream sandwich from Good batch( $7) : was amazing . Also we've tried Ube dessert: NOT cheap, kind of pricey , but just for an experience to try it. And the girls who were making it were so slow . Overall cool place but pricey read more

Have been dying to come and check out the Smorgasburg!! It did not disappoint!!! Came here with the fam and we all had a great time! Had to make several go arounds to decide what to eat first!!! We had dumplings, pineapple juice, mozzarella sticks, street corn, ramen burger, fries and tacos! YES.... We had all that!! It was our Sunday splurge! Prospect park is great too, so many people out enjoying the day! Definitely worth coming!! read more
Welcome to foodie paradise, just a short walk from the Prospect Park station's Lincoln Street exit. This was my first time experiencing Smorgasburg and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. My friend and I even left to walk around for a bit in the park before returning for round 2. I loved being able to try several vendors but wish that portions were smaller so that I could try even more! VAQUERO - mango with lime juice and chili (4/5): It's a very interesting combo that works well and a decent snack to cool down with under the hot sun. Since it's just a mango with some extra stuff, I probably wouldn't repeat this one. MAO'S BAO - pork, chicken, beef sheng jian baos (5/5): Although it's 4 for $10, the very nice guy working there gave me an extra pork bao, which was much appreciated. The filling is very flavorful, and I found that sauce wasn't even necessary because they were delicious without any extras. It was fun to watch them being cooked in the huge pans. KOKUS - Immunity soft serve in a coconut (3/5): The one I got was not nearly as pretty as the picture. The soft serve was also too icy/frozen so the consistency was really hard. I had to basically chip away at it with the plastic spoon. Also, it was way too expensive ($13). JIANBING - Shanghai-style sweet & savory crepe with lemon-garlic chicken (4/5): This was very filling and seemed authentic. The sauce was flavorful and the amount of chili oil corresponding to the medium spice level was perfect for me. Only thing is that I thought there was too much cui bing (cracker). My friend had Okonomiyaki (japanese vegetable pancake) from Okonomi, french toast pudding form Baonanas, and a rainbow cookie flavored ice cream cone topped with torched meringue from Bona Bona. I personally LOVE all outdoor festivals and street fairs. So I am partial to these type of things because they are my thing. If you don't like them, I am not sure what to tell you.... I was visiting my friends in NYC and I met up with one at Smorgasburg in Prospect Park on a Sunday. She stated they have it in Williamsburg on Saturdays, which is a much, much larger fest with many more vendors, and many more lines. They just started doing it in Prospect Park on Sunday's in addition because of event popularity. It loops around an oval shaped park of the park that is semi-near the subway station. Look at the map on Yelp, it is spot on where it is located in the park. Not sure what location my friend was using but she got lost in the park trying to find it and was exhausted when she showed up! TOO many delicious looking vendors to choose from and only so many space in my stomach you have to be strategic in your choices. Not living in NYC and also craving a Ramen burger from my last trip years ago (AND my friend had never had one because the line is always too long) we went for that. They literally have one item on the menu, $12 ramen burger. It's great but $12 is outrageous for what you get. The dessert options were mind-oggling too. I got the churro ice cream sandwich, YUM no regrets. My friend got ice cream with a marshmallow on top that they torched to give it a crisp. CASH only. Food, food, food fun! Bring cash! Vegan friends Chickpea and Olive is here for you!! 100% plant-based and insanely good. The bacon cheddar ranch burger was phenomenal. Seriously, the best I've had. Best part is the bacon was smoked eggplant, how cool! Everything about this burger was dreamy and terrific. I practically inhaled it. I did see another vegan vendor, but I think Chickpea and Olive has me. That aside, there are tons of other amazing vendors. Sad I didn't make it out here before I made the switch. read more

Really fun to go to with a group of friends! CASH ONLY. ATMs available. Food stands: I tried Mighty Quinn's small beef brisket ($5). The meat fell apart. Everything about the slow smoked barbecue beef was perfect! By the time I walked back to our picnic blanket, my bottom bun had become soggy and pretty gross to eat. Service here was great though and there are moist towelettes to wipe your hands with at the cash register. The big bun is ten bucks each. The ramen burger was my #1 stand to hit up as soon as I arrived. I've wanted to try it for YEARS. I love noodles. The bun part of this certainly did not disappoint. I definitely feel that maybe they could've added a bit more flavor to the meat or the burger itself because the most creative part of this was the fact that the bun was made of ramen. The meat on this just had arugula and straight up barbecue sauce which was really disappointing. For $12, throwing in a little more creativity would make it perfect. That said, i'd still get this burger again. Mofongo: Lineeeeeeee. A line worth waiting on. There's fried pork on top of fried plantain. They fry and smush the plantain and add seasonings to it in front of you in a very large wooden container. Just watching and appreciating the time and artistry put into this $7 is so worth it. Everyone who stands on line is excited to eat the food. I didn't hear anyone complaining about the wait. Loved the scallion bits on top! Customer service here is A+ Mission ceviche: From this Peruvian cuisine stand, we got the homemade chicha morada. A really refreshing, perfectly balanced not-too-sweet drink made from purple corn. ($4) This drink does not come with a lid. Lobster roll had a lemon sauce for it. It's a great thing to get for photos because it is nice and colorful, but if you want great lobster, don't get it from here. It's small. I got a pink colored prickly pear cactus lemonade for $4. It really hit the spot. I can't say it was the best lemonade i've ever had, but it certainly did the job of rehydrating me and prickly pear is very unique. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet nor icy. This stand gave a cap with the drink. Yes, it's unsustainable, but the stands that served such bright colored drinks without caps caused more spillages and had more wasted drinks from dirt/bugs going into them. This one with a cap allowed us to reuse at the water station! Ice cream: Happy national ice cream day! So many ice cream stands! There's rolled ice cream, organic ice cream ($5 for a single scoop, $6 for a double-mini scoop), shaved ice, slushies, churro ice cream ($7), and ice cream sandwich ($7). Environment: Really laid back. There were many benches for people to sit at. Others, like our group brought blankets, laid them down and took turns buying food. So many dogs around! :) Bathrooms/sinks: I really appreciate them putting in portable-potties right next to Smorgasburg so we didn't have to pick between staying hydrated vs. sacrificing a run/our picnic spot to go to the bathroom and leaving the food. Water stand: There is a water stand near the beer/wine, bathroom and Mofongo stand. Paper cups are available here, but I recommend you bringing a reuseable bottle! If you get a metal one or double layered bottle, you can save the ice you get from drinks to make the water cold because ice is a really valuable resource when it's so hot here and the water is room temperature. Really fun to go out to. I'd suggest bringing sun screen, a blanket to sit on. Subway stop is within walking distance. It is really hard to find parking here on a Sunday. An added perk is that there's a farmer's market right next to the train station. read more

Smorgasburg is always a fun place to go on a nice day when you know you wanna eat but don't know what you want. I decided to go here on a random Sunday and see where the wind blew me. First I ended up getting Maple Mango Lemonade (sorry I don't remember the name of the stand) because it was a pretty hot day and I was really thirsty. The drink was tasty and refreshing, but it really just tasted like mango juice to me. Then I stopped at home frite. I always used to skip this place cause the like is always super long and I thought to myself "they're just fries..." but I decided to go for it this time. They were reallllly good! I understand the hype now lol really crispy and nice. Then I went over to Destination Dumplings hoping to get some dumplings but when I got there they were sold out of everything but the pork and chive dumplings and the bao. Having had pork and chive dumplings on a million occasions, I got the bao (one regular, one spicy). They were both good, but that spicy one hit different! To end the day, I stopped by the trendy Bona Bona to try that beautiful toasted meringue treat. I opted for the key lime pie ice cream underneath it. This was the best part of the day! The meringue is super sweet in my opinion so it was really balanced out by the tart key lime flavor of the ice cream. Let's talk about this foodie heaven event that happens in brooklyn prospect park on sundays!!! Me and my girlfriends had to try it out and wasn't disappointed. All varieties of food, and they even had a bar (although I would have preferred more drink options) It was super HOT!! But worth it because we got to drink cool and refreshing watermelon and pineapple juices straight out the fruit. Although I loved my fish tacos they weren't flavorful and I wish they added a tad bit of salt! However the dumplings were amazing and so was the truffles fries and bbq boneless wings. read more

My first time back at smorgasburg since the pandemic. The first thing that caught my eye was the lack of stores. The last time I went, the inner loop and the outer loop were full, now its only the outer loop. Although theres probably half the amount of stores, the ones that are still here have great selections. The horchata from Vaquero was amazing and super refreshing, it was a bit more expensive than I thought but there are cheaper drinks a few rents down if you want. The Brooklyn poutine from duck season was great. I think the fries are cooked in duck fat instead of oil and the taste is much better than normal fries. For $15 I thought the price was worth it. The portion size is huge and packed with the bacon cheese and gravy. My friend and I loved it and were super full. For dessert I went to Mbr Green Papaya Salads and got the it rakes 2 to mango which is sticky rice and mango on skewers. The price was fair and it was a great way to end my meal. My husband and I decided to venture out to this food event that only happens on Saturday (Williamsburg) and Sunday (at this location). Parking is a pain because it is located in a residential section of Brooklyn but we were lucky to find a space 2 blocks away from the park. We recommend you to go right when they open at 11:00 am or before noon to avoid the huge crowds later in the day and don't forget to bring cash as most of the vendors do not take credit cards. There were so many vendors and a great diversity of food and drink to choose from. We shared a brunch on a stick, quail eggs with original toppings from BrunchStreet, the classic (pork + chive) and Peking duck dumplings from Destination Dumplings, the original ramen burger from Ramen Burger. For drinks, I got an iced coffee from Stand Coffee and my husband got a Strawberry lemonade from Vaquero Products. We also shared the Peking duck bao from C Bao Asian Buns, stewed pork belly with buttered rice patty and salad from Banzai Phresh and Scallion pancake with Taiwanese popcorn chicken from Outer Borough, which were my 3 favorites. And finally, we finished with a matcha green tea creation dessert from Wowfulls. I was still thirsty when we were leaving so I got the fresh ice cold coconut from Excell Kingston Eatery. In total, we spent $78 for our lunch date voyage in Brooklyn on a Sunday afternoon. Everything we ate had decent taste but nothing really wowed us. The price point was very expensive and the cash only was a pitb. At the end of the day, this food vendor event was a good concept because you get to sample a plethora of different foods in 1 place. Always a good time when I go to Smorg Prospect Park. Came here on a Sunday around 1:30pm. The area had plenty of people, but it wasn't packed to create very long lines at several food stations. If there was a line, it did not last long at all. What I tried this most recent visit: Ramen Burger: hamburger in between a bed of formed/grilled ramen noodles with a soy based sauce with scallions on top. This burger is delicious. The noodles had a nice crunch on the outside, but also soft enough on the inside- they were perfect. Believe the hype on this one. 5 Dough: this has for to be my favorite donut place. My favorite yeast donuts: dulce de lèche coating with almonds on top and the café au lait- this has some sort of cookie sugar roping- YUM! 5 The Good Batch: Had the oatmeal vanilla fudge ice cream sandwich- this basically is vanilla ice cream with fudge on top. The coolie is oatmeal and chocolate chips. The cookie was a bit too big for me to eat, especially at this type of venue when you want to try a little bit of several dishes.
