Ambiance: Both my aunt and cousin's daughter lived in this neighborhood and hadn't been here: all…read moreof us will be back! It had want I wanted for my aunt: an attached parking lot and lots of flat surfaces. It also had what I wanted for a perfect July day: an outdoor, covered patio! Service: When we peeked in the patio, a server said "pick any table you want, i'll be back with a basket." There were maybe 10 tables. The "basket" had silverware, napkins, menu and the QR code for ordering. The server explained that we got our own water and could order inside or through the QR. That is always a little annoying to me (Karen!) but the water was full, the food came out quickly, and they checked on us and cleared the plates in a reasonable manner. Food: I order steak salads as my go too and sometimes the steak is tough: not this steak! It was as smooth as butter! Delicious. My dinner companions ate all their food (we were talking and not about the food, but a clean plate is always a good indication.)

The tables have QR codes so you can order straight from your table. There's a decent selection of tacos, burgers, and more! We also splurged for a milkshake that was big enough to share. They had some deals which included a $4 Prys Beer! The onion rings were a stand out and we loved the "creole" aioli that came with the shrimp sandwich - though it tasted more like a wasabi base. There were a lot of things we liked about this place but where they lost points was the cleanliness. There was a lack of clarity on bussing your own table and everything just felt a little sticky. When the wind came - people's trash was blowing about and that wasn't ideal.

Marsu Pizzeria + Taqueria - Slice of birria pizza

Ben and Jerry's free ice cream cone day. After hanging out for half an hour with a live DJ,…read moredancing, and ice cream, we were ready for dinner. Priorities. What are we craving? Burgers? Nah. Pizza? Two maybes - plus the asker. Mexican? Again, two maybes. We start scouring possibilities. And come across a pizzaria + taqueria. Ratings at a very respectable 4.5. Curiosities at full peak. Plus it's close. We've got a winner. No guests inside when we arrive. Parking right out front. Before we even decide on an order, however, people start coming in. Several tables fill up within 10 minutes. Amusingly, the first next group grabbed the one curved booth with my full drink bottle still sitting on the table in the middle of them. They migrated to the semi-booth across the dining area. Clearly, the two most desired seating areas in the house. We ordered birria pizza and horchata - we have a tradition of testing the horchata at every next Mexican restaurant we try. This one was mid - not horrible, not great. Just was. We'd ordered a birria pizza recently, elsewhere. It came out as... a birria taco in pizza layout. Tortilla circle, birria middle, tortilla top. Meh. To be fair, that birria pizza was the only pizza item on that menu, so it made sense that their pizza just wasn't pizza-ing. We were hopeful for a very different experience this time. Especially given the very clear emphasis on pizza on this menu. Then the pizza came. Not only did it look glorious, a bowl of birria dip sat in the middle of the pizza, completing the birria experience. And it was absolutely fantastic. The birria, the ratio, the crust - everything was delicious. Except, as my friend pointed out, the horchata. It can't all be perfect, unfortunately. The pizza was so good that when we wrapped up the leftovers, a strip of end crust went in with the rest of the pie. Speaking of, I'm definitely ready to reheat all of that now - update: Awesome reheated. :) Next visit: Chorizo pineapple jalepeño pizza!

Marsu Pizzeria: The Battle for the Last Slice…read more I walked into Marsu Pizzeria already knowing two things: 1) I was about to have the best pizza of my life. 2) I was going to order way too much food and have no regrets. The place smelled like heaven--garlic, melted cheese, fresh dough. I took a seat, ready to devour a feast. A cheerful employee--let's call him Tony (because let's be real, every good pizzeria has a Tony)--walks up with a confident smile. Tony: "You ready for the best pizza of your life?" Me: "Tony, I've been training for this moment my whole life." I ordered the house special pizza (because if a pizza place has a signature pizza, you ORDER IT), plus some garlic knots, because I respect myself. The food came out fast, hot, fresh, and smelling like a dream. As I'm one slice away from food coma territory, I see it. The last slice. The holy grail. The perfect combination of cheese, sauce, and crispy crust, staring at me like it knows it's about to be devoured. Just as I'm reaching for it, Tony slides by the table, nodding at my plate. Tony: "You gonna finish that?" Me: "...I was planning on it, Tony." Tony: "You sure? I mean, we could put it up for auction. Bidding starts at one garlic knot." Me: "Not happening." Tony: "Alright, but just know... if you don't eat it in the next 30 seconds, I legally get to claim it." Now, I don't know what kind of pizzeria law Tony is operating under, but I wasn't about to test it. I stared him dead in the eyes as I picked up the last slice and took the biggest bite possible. Tony (nodding approvingly): "Good choice. That's the kind of hunger we respect around here." Long story short, Marsu Pizzeria has the best pizza, the best vibes, and employees who will absolutely test your commitment to finishing your food. Final score? 10/10 pizza. 10/10 service. 10/10 threats on my last slice.

We went at night, so the space was not as cute as in the day. Florescent lighting and was very cold because of all the windows everywhere, but I really liked the art on the wall of "make tacos, not walls." I was a little worried when I looked at the menu because there weren't many written vegetarian options (was gonna just get rice and beans), but was able to get a vegetarian quesadilla, so I assume that many of their options can be made veggie, if you ask. Food came out relatively quickly and they brought lots of salsa too, which was perfect because I almost always have to ask for more salsa at most places. The quesadilla was so good. The cheese they used was divine and so melty! Good combo of veggies in it too (peppers and onions and more that I can't remember right now oops). I also got the oreo cheesecake, which was DIVINE. I always forget how much I like cheesecake and this one was tastier than most. I loved the crunchy oreos too to add a little texture. Will definitely be coming again to try different things. Want to try their juices when it's a little warmer!

In terms of taste, the birria ramen was very salty, to the point that I had to water it down a bit to finish it. I appreciated the idea of having this option but I seriously think more meat and more noodles are needed for the consomé to not have an overpowering taste. The tacos tasted good as usual and had a good amount of ingredients which I loved. Previously I came here to get lengua tacos and they had very little dry lengua meat. The torta was also good in the most conventional way, which grilled chicken, mayo, and more. Back in the days I used to order a tray of tacos, 25 of them, for about $75 which I believe is still the case for the same price. I know that people in general will appreciate this establishment for its affordability on comfort food that will feed lots.

Was very surprised with the Arabe Taco... had the asada and it was great, especially for the value!! Beats anything Taco Bell can come up with plus fresh ingredients. As far as the burrito... it's just as packed and heavy as a Chipotle burrito but with REAL MEXICAN flavors... the Al Pastor is the crowd favorite and I can see why... not very traditional but very tasty! Ordered through Uber eats and had my food prepped and delivered to me within 30 mins.
