Smylie's is a really nice place to visit. They have lots of exciting flavors of ice cream. They also have water ice and no-sugar added options. You can buy different kinds of candies here as well. If you're having a party, their "ice cream pizza" is sure to delight your guests. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Couldn't ask for anything more from an ice cream shop! Please Note: The shop did get new owners a little while ago. The portions and prices have gotten so much better. (Unfortunately I did not come here before the new owners because the prices were very high and the portions were so small. If you do Weight Watchers I bet the other cones were 1/2 a point haha). Not so Smylie so sorry. I was looking for a stop not far off the turnpike for some good homemade ice cream but I found this place instead. I stop here and I was everything but good. I will add that I go out of my way all my trips to stop to try and sample homemade ice cream everywhere I go so I've become in my own mind a bit of an ice cream snob. I tried a medium with three scoops so I can taste various types and flavors. I had salty caramel, moose tracks and apple pie. Each one had a chemical taste for the flavor and the most non-creamy ice cream I've had in a long time. It was probably as good as generic storebrand ice cream. Portions were small but not minuscule. Three scoops fit inside a 10 ounce foam cups with lots of room to spare I actually tossed the entire thing after tasting a few spoonfuls of each. I've never done that my entire life. So that's my review, tossed. read more

My daughter shared her teachers advice to try this ice-cream shop because they had this really really really good Cookie Monster cream. I stopped and the external appearance was kind of cute. There were seats with umbrella tables. It was empty inside only 2 girls on duty. As my daughter and I walked in they said hi and offered their assistance. As we were making our minds up the one young lady touted the good old Annoying anything else? Not even 2 mins later I heard it again, Anything else? I looked around to see what the hurry was all about. None the less we moved forward with the mint chocolate chip and vanilla peanut butter something. My husband ordered a butter pecan. I was able to taste it all. This ice-cream is supposed to be home made. Home made doesn't always equal special. At least not in this case. The ice-cream was okay. It is missing that rich, creamy, sweet, and yumfulness that I've experienced from other ice cream parlors. I was disappointed because of the missing richness in flavor in addition to my daughter's teacher's seal of approval. Walked into Smylie's and was stared at by the young lady behind the counter licking ice cream off of her spoon. It literally took me to say something before I was even acknowledged after walking in and walking up to the counter. Mind you there were 3 people working!! The floor looked like there were topping stepping all over over the place. The conditions of this establishment was atrocious!! The level of customer or lack there of was terrible and I walked out without even purchasing anything. I can't say that the name lives up to the experience I had tonight. Horrible shakes!! There is only one person there that can make a half decent milkshake. Most of the time the milkshake is the consistency of water. Way too much milk is used and not enough ice cream. Very disappointing. Vincent's and Holidays are the best around. read more

Smylie's has very good ice cream and a very well kept store. The owner & staff are very pleasant. Prices are very reasonable. My kids constantly ask to go here and we are happy to oblige whenever we are in the area. They also are very supportive of their local community, which is always nice to see. While Smylie's is a great overall local place for ice cream in a relatively small town, in my opinion its well worth a decent ride to give a try for those of you that are further away. We haven't tried the ice cream cakes yet but can't wait too as I have heard nothing but good things about them. Recently tried the "flying saucers" and "chipwhich" and they are very, very good! They also host some create-your-own sundae parties for kids. We will definitely be looking into this soon!!! Keep up the great work and can't wait to visit again. read more

But what's even better is the service. The service there can't be beat. We went to the ice cream shop after the Cupcakery ran out of cupcakes and we loved it. Great little ice cream shop close to the base. We will be back all summer. Super friendly staff, nice and neat store, a good variety of ice cream flavors, their portions are reasonable. My friend and I bought a little package of their chocolate coated pretzel and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely worth it, can't wait to try more of their chocolates actually.
