We came on a Thursday morning and there was only one couple seated and eating already. We all ordered our food. Two other parties came in after us and ordered after and got their food before us. We literally waited about 45 minutes to get our food and this place was literally empty. The food was also pretty bad. The corn beef hash was atrocious, deli slices of corn beef with chopped up frozen potatoes. The biscuit was also raw and doughy. My wife's eggs were overcooked and rubbery and her sausage was burnt. My friend got her food 15 minutes after our food was served. Literally the worst dining experience i have ever experienced and i dont recommed this place to anyone. --------------------- If yelp would allow me to leave negative stars, i would. The owner replied to me with a disrespectful and unprofessional response to my original review. Calling me no good for any business is uncalled for when all i did was leave an honest review from my experience. You should have taken my review to correct your mistakes, your food isnt fresh nor tasty, your service is subpar, and your professionalism is nonexistant. If only you would just stop lying to yourself and realize that my whole party showed up together and ordered right away but you fed other patrons that showed up after us. read more

We traveled from Alabama for a baseball tournament. We had a break and wanted a place to get cooled down and eat - somewhere that would be good for adults and older kids. We found Smyrna Cafe and decided to try it. If you are in a hurry you will need to go somewhere else, but if you would like good food at a relaxed pace then try this cafe. Not sure how this place got to 4.5 stars they must have a very large family - only good thing I can say is the food was actually pretty good other than that nothing great. Took over 45 minutes to get our food to the table. We had 4 people at our table and there were only 5 or 6 other tables in the entire restaurant. Each of our meals came out separately so we weren't able to eat together as a family - which kinda stunk. Our waitress was not the most polite individual - I understand with Covid things have gotten slower but would think it would not be hard to get 4 breakfast plates to come out at the same time and the politeness and courteous attitudes should be the standard not the exception. read more

Excellent service and the food was very good. We went on a Saturday morning around 7:45-8 am and were the only ones there until we were almost done. Very cozy atmosphere and very nice staff. My husband ordered coffee and the all American breakfast and said everything was great. I had just the biscuits and gravy and breakfast potatoes. I loved the potatoes!! The biscuits were buttery and good but nothing extraordinary. The gravy was nothing special but it did the job. We stopped by to get a pancake brunch for my kids, en route back to Chicago from Florida. The corned beef hash had great balance and flavor, and the toast was light and buttery. Everything was so delicious, and we enjoyed it more than our last breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We wanted to order an extra meal for the car trip home, ie Reuben or meat loaf, but those would be better hot for next time. Definitely kid-friendly. read more

We stopped in to Smyrna Cafe on a Sunday around 9am after 3 hours of driving. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my boyfriend ordered the all American breakfast. Everything came out fast and delicious. The staff is also very polite, friendly and make you feel welcomed. Terrible service! Terrible attitude by staff! Go somewhere else if you're starving and want your food in less than 1 hour. It took them 55 minutes to make an omelet and an order of Eggs Benedict. They refused to apologize for the delay or offer any kind of discount. Apparently, they think it's acceptable to wait over 55 minutes for food. Me and my friends went here, and we aren't the people to leave a bad review. But we waited about 40 mins, just to receive our food that taste like it was frozen. And the Mac and cheese just looked like it just already prepared noodles with just sprinkled cheese on it that was thrown in the microwave. Finding this restaurant is like finding what you think is a 3 carat CZ on the sidewalk and discovering it is a rare VVS blue diamond worth a ridiculous amount of money. I was furiously craving Eggs Benedict and a nice relaxing "sit down" with my hubby, without having to drive a huge distance. I called this restaurant, even though I saw Eggs Benedict on their online menu, just to be certain they still offered them. A very kind gentleman answered the phone and said "yes, yes, I'll cook this for you". He asked how many people were coming and even confirmed a time that we'd arrive. We arrived about 10 minutes later than expected and I saw a "closed-be back at 5pm" plaque handing on the door, and my heart sunk. However, I tried the door and it was open. We began to enter and the kind gentleman met us as we entered, confirming that I was the one that had called. He explained that he was waiting and hoped we were coming. I apologized for being late, but the rain caused traffic. He was very jovial, seated us, giving us both menus, although verbally confirming that I still wanted the Eggs Benedict. He brought us each waters and asked if we'd like coffee, and how we took it. I said I liked cream and I was so happy when he brought a fresh miniature, ice cold pitcher of half & half with my coffee. Now, frankly, considering it was 8:45 a.m. and he was closing, with no other patrons, I wasn't expecting the food to be that good. My husband ordered a 2 egg combination breakfast and I requested the Eggs Benedict. He told us the food would arrive in about 10 minutes or less. In the interim, he offered more coffee. Shortly thereafter, the food arrived. It appeared beautifully prepared and was piping hot. My husband and I both looked at each other, very pleasantly surprised. We did this once more upon taking our first bites. I'm not usually an animated eater, but I couldn't help a few yummy moans and expressive "oh my" and "wow" while eating. The hollandaise was so very yummy! It tasted to have been made from scratch and had the perfect hint of lemon to offset the Canadian bacon. There was a perfect slight crispness to the English muffins as well as perfectly poached eggs. I love hollandaise so I had asked for extra to go with the potatoes, when I ordered. He assured me that there would be enough and he was correct. I had plenty to go with the home style potatoes. The potatoes were also cooked perfectly. I asked my husband how he liked his and he said "it's great", and he's rather difficult if anything is not exactly right. So I knew his was perfect as well. His bacon appeared to be cooked to a perfect amount of crispness and his eggs were actually "sunny side up" and completely cooked. Each window says and/or shows a different dish available for any of the breakfast, lunch or dinner meals. I can only imagine that if these meals are as good as what I'd just experienced, this place must have huge lunch and dinner rushes. Or possibly the fact that he's closing the restaurant in between the meal rushes has cost him some patronage? I say this because there's absolutely no reason this restaurant shouldn't be very busy at all times. I used the restroom before leaving and it was immaculate and beautiful. Granite countertops, and beautiful tiles halfway up the walls. Additionally, it appears that there's a full service bar as well. There are large flat screen tv's visible throughout. I recommend this restaurant highly and believe that anyone thinking of going, call first, to confirm their being open and able to serve. I downloaded the Yelp app specifically to review this business and share our wonderful experience eating there. Although I took no pictures and am not experienced with reviewing, I hope that this has been informative enough to help others decide to eat there. This place could use a good deep clean and new decor. It looks cheap and not clean in there. The food lives up to that. Their prices, however, don't. I paid $10 just for 3 pancakes. A side of bacon was an extra $4. Not at all worth it. I'm hopeful they take reviews into consideration. They won't be open long. No wonder I never see a car there. I had a Restaurant.com, $15 off $30 online gift card purchased 5/3/18. Before I even ordered, I showed the server who said "It's expired" based on the purchase date of 5/3/18. I exchanged it for a new one online for today and showed her. She disappeared into the kitchen and comes back a few minutes later saying they were out of Shrimp Scampi. The only other two things I wanted were also out. Until, I said to my friend, should we leave? Suddenly, they have salmon. It was obvious they were trying to get out of selling any of their higher priced entrees. The food comes out and looked good but, based on time it had to be nuked. It tasted good but, in no way worth $14.99. Although, considering the location and lack of customers it was understandable. However, after our meal the manager comes out with the check saying he doesn't accept the coupon as it doesn't work unless you spend $50. The coupon was clearly defined as $15 off $30 and when I showed him he mumbles something about charging a service fee. He walks off to the register and we review the fine print about the terms of the coupon, of course there is no mention of a fee. He returns with a new bill showing he took off the $15 BUT, conveniently he charged a $6.50 manual fee. So, that was the tip and I pay cash $30.94 to get my $3 dollars returned and...she took another 50 cents! Really? As if this was to be assumed an isolated incident, the next victims behind us were getting the same verbal diarrhea about saving 50% costs him money, ironically they had the same $15 coupon and he told them they had to spend $50.
