I popped in here today to give Thida Thai a try. I placed a to go order. They offer fast friendly service. Their prices are comparable to any other similar restaurant. The restaurant has a little comfy and cozy ambience with soft background music playing. I ordered chicken, chicken fresh rolls and chicken satay just to give them a gander. My order took approximately 10 or so minutes to prepare. I must say that their fresh rolls are not skimpy. Probably some of the larger ones I've ever had. Definitely a hit and I really like the sauce that they were served with. The chicken satay was nice and moist, but it did lack just a smidgen of seasoning. Excellent Thai! Fresh Ingredients, great flavor. 5 Years Later, today experience the worst customer service ever at a restaurant. The server charged us a dinner menu price after ordering from lunch menu, her mistake. During the dispute, the server grabbed my wife's plate from her while she was still eating lunch, so she couldn't finish eating lunch. Final straw! Over a small price difference between lunch vs. dinner vs a long time customer, the long time customer is now gone which is equivalent to thousands of dollars over time. read more

My family just dined in at Thida Thai this afternoon, we frequent this establishment often since moving here 4 years ago. We had a party of 5, 3 adults and 2 kids. Food was great as usual, however, when bill came there was a 25% gratuity added to my bill. When I brought it to the cashier's attention she said that it was standard for parties of 5 or more. I pointed out that the menu states 18%. I don't mind paying but the discrepancy was concerning. Cashier argues, I ask for a manager, she said none was there. She ended up voiding transaction and charging me 20% gratuity. Still not 18% so I questioned it again. After more arguing she changes to the 18%. And tells me to just leave now. Went to Thida Thai while traveling in business. It was a rainy evening in late spring and warm curry was where it was at! Place got super busy after I sat down. Staff was super helpful and quick. Lots of options. Thai place with Pho and Sushi is a little odd so stuck with Panama Curry and it didn't disappoint. Spice level was good at medium about what I would have expected. Sushi bar was a cool seating area and live edge table around dining room were nice touch. Price was good for portion and service. I would recommend and go back! read more

My brother and I found this hidden gem back in 2018 and we would go here numerous times a month. When I moved in 2020, my brother said it just wasn't the same going there without me. He moved to East TN in 2021, so it was hard for both of us. I am now back in East TN and although it's a 4 hour drive for us, we both agree, it's worth the drive especially since there really aren't any good / decent Thai places over here in East TN. I've tried many Pad Thai but this is probably one of the best Pad Thai I've ever tried! It was so perfectly cooked and packed with lots of flavor. I got tofu as protein. Sushi was not so good. It had 1 tiny piece of salmon and crunch inside with over 3 pounds of rice. There was so much rice on the roll that I had to bite a bunch off. It wasn't balanced at all. I ordered the food to go. They told us 30 minutes and we arrived in about 40 minutes and still had to wait an extra 20 minutes so it was an hour wait for 2 items. I know I was really hungry, but everything tasted really good tonight. I started eating before taking my pictures of the food, LOL. The calamari was perfectly cooked and was a great appetizer. I got the chicken pad Thai bento, which came with some california roll sushi which was great! The rice was moist enough, which many places don't get it right. Most other places the rice is too dry. Maybe a bit more vinegar flavor, but now I'm just getting picky. The spring roll was nice, the chicken pad Thai was outstanding with a lot of flavor. For the appetizer, I got the deep fried tofu which was delicious and they give you a large portion with sauce and a side of crushed peanuts. For the entree, the Pad See Yew was not very good. This place was incredible. Wow. The staff is extremely pleasant and the food was amazing. My girlfriend and I invited a few of our friends out for dinner and YELP recommended this restaurant. The choices here are almost endless. You can even fuse foods from different ethic specialities. I had pineapple tofu curry and I loved every single bite. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. A hidden gem in a sea of strip malls off Sam Ridley. This charming spot is next to Subway and should not be passed up! We started our meal with Tom Kha which was very balanced in flavor, perfectly sweet, tangy and sour and addicting. The fresh spring rolls were also very good and I appreciate that it was cut into smaller pieces rather than served as a whole or half. For our entrees we got the curry fried rice with beef and Pad Kee Mao with chicken. Both were cooked just right (noodles were not over done, rice was also perfect) The only improvement would be the noodle dish, which could use a little more meat. This small, understated, unassuming eatery is a hidden gem among Smyrna's chain-dominated restaurant scene. The menu is surprisingly extensive, given the size of the place. I have never had a bad meal here. In addition to the expected Thai dishes (Pad Kee Mao, Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, curries, salads, and soups), they also serve various kinds of pho, fried rice and stir fries, a fairly large variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri (they added a sushi bar in recent years), and different bento boxes featuring smaller portions of some of their dishes along with other treats. The food is always presented with a bit of a flair, too. The food is outstanding, but visitors to the restaurant should be aware, this is a small establishment with a small staff. (I suspect the staff may be mostly family, but I do not know that for sure.) Dining here usually requires some patience. This is not a fast-food restaurant. If you are in a hurry, this is not the place to go. During busy times, waiting for someone to acknowledge you when you walk in may take some time. Waiting for service once you are seated may take even longer. Food may arrive at your table sporadically. I have eaten at Thida Thai on numerous occasions with various family members, and it is not unusual for one or two of us to get our food well before the others. Once everyone has finished their meals, it may take some time before the check is delivered. These are not meant as criticisms, mind you. It is merely how they operate, and, in a way, part of their charm. The restaurant seems to do a considerable take-out business. On many of my visits, there has been a fairly constant stream of people coming in to pick up to-go orders. Thida Thai shares a building and parking lot with a Subway restaurant. This may have an impact on someone considering whether to give Thida Thai a try. It shouldn't. If you enjoy quality Thai food, and you have the patience, you should pay this place a visit. read more

I dined at Thida Thai on Thursday, November 12, 2020 around 1 pm. I was very disappointed in the service I got. Despite the complimentary congee that came out, I waited for an unreasonable long time for two bento boxes that I ordered. The waitress who took our order didn't write anything down so two food items that I ordered never came out (spicy tuna roll and fresh spring rolls). One bento box that we ordered was requested with beef but had chicken instead. Then when the bill came out, they charged for beef, so I'm struggling to understand how they managed to get the bill right but the food was wrong. Waitress should write down orders or repeat back the order if she's confident to remember the ticket with 100% accuracy. The food itself was okay. Nothing outstanding to comment about besides the sushi having a lot of rice. I will not be returning to this establishment since there are many other better options for sushi and Thai restaurants in the area in my opinion. read more

We were promptly greeted and seated within seconds of arriving. They have a great menu full of so many options including sushi. This time around we enjoyed the dumplings, pho and curry and it was all so delicious! It's a laid back and casual atmosphere. The staff weren't too social and were more direct than friendly but they always made sure to promptly remove excess dishes and that we had our beverages refilled. All in all I recommend this place. Another customer was there and told me they did the same thing to her. For that reason alone, you lost points with me. I came back today and as soon as my elderly mother walked in to pay the cashiers started to verbally attack her because they got the previous order wrong.
