The only thing "sad" about my visit to One Love was the fact that it's in Brockville and I live in Toronto! lol I'd LOVE to eat there again but, who knows when I can? I smelled the curry from over in the Golfing area of the building and made my way over. Ordered a curry chickpea dinner and it was very delicious! I don't ordinarily like Caribbean or Latin American rice, but the yellow rice was light and so flavourful. The curry had shredded coconut in it; delicious! There was a small fried doughnut, and it was the perfect size: just a taste of something not so healthy. There were veggies in the curry and they were delicious too...nothing unusual like okra (that's an acquired taste). I gobbled down the whole dinner (having intended lol to buy only an appetizer) The chef was super friendly and informative and of his own accord, mentioned to me that he wants the food to be healthy. Thank you for nourishing me so tastefully. It's not a fancy place, but the vibe is good, food is great; the owners have put up Jamaican posters and sayings around the restaurant and I found them to be inspirational too

You'd definitely get lost without Google Maps. The Jerk Chicken was incredible - well-marinated and grilled perfectly. The outside was well-churned and crispy, while the inside was tender and juicy, with a hint of sweetness that was just right. The Oxtail was also amazing. The meat could practically fall off the bone. It also had a sweet flavour, and the sauce paired perfectly with the rice. Both the yellow rice and pea rice were flavourful, and the festival was yum too. The store owner was extremely friendly, patiently explaining each dish, providing extra plates, and checking in on us to ensure we had a great experience. Super nice guy. The ambience was nice too. Jamaican decor and music created a laid-back vibe that had us feeling like we'd been transported to the islands. Highly recommend this spot.

As a frequent traveler…read morewith extensive experience dining internationally, I was particularly looking forward to experiencing authentic Jamaican cuisine. The staff was nice, however the food that make the cut My first visit revealed limited menu availability, resulting in my ordering a chicken soup, it had a nice flavor and no meat. But because it was late, I tried this place again the next day. My second visit, undertaken with the hope of a more positive experience, unfortunately proved more disappointing. The lunch special, priced at $15.50, consisted of a single chicken thigh and a meager serving of rice and beans. The accompanying pumpkin chicken soup seemed significantly diluted from my previous visit, lacking meats and no dumplings. The oxtails were old and had a foul smell to them as well as the rice was mushy... maybe two days old... yes old!!! I trash them. The health department really needs to check this out!!! The overall quality of the food fell short of expectations, particularly Jamaican's are known for good food, and considering the price. Its like kids playing in the kitchen! While I understand that this may be the only Jamaican restaurant in town, this does not excuse the provision of subpar food at inflated prices. I believe there is significant potential for improvement in both portion size and food quality to better reflect the pride and culinary excellence typically associated with Jamaican cuisine. I hope that my feedback will be considered constructively to enhance the dining experience for future patrons.

Not bad actually. But what nary comes to mind is a Trinidad and Tobago treasure trove of Caribbean treats. D's Modern Caribbean serves them up with style in the lovely town of Campbellford. I had the very reasonably priced half roti and salad with jerk chicken, of course. My friend had the same with goat, of course. And my wife had the cleverly and deliciously prepared mushrooms, cooked and styled like scallops, of course. Man alive! Flavours were spot on, heat was legit but not over the top. Service and ambiance were just right. D's gets an A+ in my book.

I should also add that the service was impeccable and the entire vibe was welcoming. We were also treated with several visits from the owner Dee who was happy to walk us through the menu, provide pairing advice, and even advice on how to blend some of the great flavours across our dishes. Although we went for mains, one great feature on the menu was the ability to order an appetizer platter which comes with four full sized app's. My only regret, I was too stuffed to enjoy some of their home made ice cream and the bread pudding. Should you ever find yourself in Northumberland County, I suggest you pop in for a visit!
