We stumbled upon Harpers Saturday night with the kids. The hubby ate here before and said they make solid burgers. We were seated promptly. Service was pretty attentive and our waitress was phenomenal and really upbeat and sweet. They were on it with the refills too. I really thought the kids would love their food, but they just picked at it during the dinner. What kid says no to waffle fries and a hot dog? Apparently the hot dog looked to juicy? lol. My french fry loving son, had no issues with his fries but skipped the chicken nuggets. My poor husband had to polish off whatever was not eaten by our kids after he ate his burger and poutine. I had the plantbased burger and I had no complaints. I will say their pickles are really great on the burger and loved their house sauce that came on it as well. Their fries are on the meatier side and I only ate a couple and passed the rest on to the kids, since the burger was pretty filling on its own. They had toy story playing on the tv in the restaurant. Spent a nice day exploring Kingston. Had a craving for something hardy. We came across Hardy's on their high street (Princess St). Menu looked interesting so we parked our butts here. We were seated at the patio because there was no space inside, and we were grateful for the blankets on the chairs and the hot water that we were served, because it instantly warmed us up. Overall was more of a 3.5 based on the food, but rounded up to 4. Not only were we in the mood for a burger place for dinner, but we saw the high ratings on Yelp and knew we had to try this place. We could tell by the number of patrons compared to all the other places we passed that it was probably our best option. The outdoor seating was full but it was getting a bit chilly going into 8 p.m. so we were happy to take a booth inside. All indoor seating was booths along the sides of the walls and was very comfortable. Service was friendly and excellent, 5 stars for that. We didn't have to ask for water which came promptly with the server on his first trip to our booth. We took a few minutes to browse the menu which consisted of about a dozen versions of burgers (including vegan and gluten free options). You choose the patty size (6, 8 or 10 oz; add surcharge for 8 and 10 oz options), the bun (including pretzel and gluten free choices), and can customize your toppings. My daughter and I went with La La Land and Smokehouse burgers and hub went with a Kingston all beef hot dog (with cheese). Price range was $16 to $19 for the combos before burger patty upsize surcharges and includes choice of fries/waffle fries/salad/cole slaw or you can upgrade your side to poutine or onion rings. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her La La Land on a pretzel bun and regular fries. The toppings included goat cheese, avocado spread and roasted red pepper. Choice of condiments includes sriracha and I think soy sauce along with typical mustard and ketchup so my daughter was able to add sriracha to her liking. My Smokehouse included double smoked cheddar and hickory bacon. The fresh lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickle were fantastic, as was the pretzel bun. I did find as some other reviews did that the patty was overcooked so that was disappointing. The edges were crispy and it was not juicy. I had waffle fries which were very hot and good texture but I caught a current of oil getting past its prime so between that and the overcooked patty and bacon I can give 4 stars for the food at best. My own burger I'd have to downgrade to a 3 because of the patty (most important part of a burger after all). I had a bite of hubby's dog and it was juicy and flavourful. It most certainly is a better value than Burger's Priest with a much better ambience so this is where I'd otherwise set the bar with gourmet burgers. The selection of alcoholic beverages is also pretty impressive and you can get spiked floats and shakes as well. We weren't in the mood for any but the list was inspiring. Hub did get a regular root beer float which was served with the bottled Dad's root beer on the side which is great presentation in my book. Bill payment was prompt but you can only use the percentage option on tips with electronic payment. I don't like this option as it calculates on top of taxes so you have to do your own good math if you want to account for that. Would give it another try. read more

our group of six decided to stop here for lunch after a long day at Thousand islands. located right on the main strip, this restaurant has a great atmosphere and a cute patio out front. I ordered the classic burger with a 6 oz beef patty on a pretzel bun with waffle fries as the side. The burger options are so customizable that you can have almost any kind of burger you'd like. I also had the chance to try their mean green potato salad and I really liked it. I've never had a potato salad that tasted like that and it was perfect on such a hot day. I like that they brought the standard toppings like tomato, pickles and lettuce on the side so that the burger doesn't get soggy on its way to you. overall the service was great, the food was tasty and I really enjoyed my experience. Very very good. Came here for lunch and wow are those burgers good. Ordered their lunch special which is the classic burger with fries and a drink. You get to choose your own bun so a bit of customization here and the burger comes with the Harper's Burger Bar Sauce. Firstly, the patty is fantastic. Probably one of the best I've had ever. It's juicy, flavourful and pairs extremely well with the HBB Sauce. The bun is also nice and toasted. There's actually a very sizable amount of fries that they provide, and since the HBB sauce comes on the side, that was a pretty good combo too (dipping the fries into the sauce). The place was packed and we did needed to wait for 15 minutes but that wasn't a problem. We came here for FebFest so we had two sliders and a glass of beer for $10. People mention the prices here are inflated which could definitely deflate ratings by a star. The food itself was tasty and creative with all the variety of toppings and condiments they offer. Excellent food. Terrific staff. Modified a burger to make a really fab grilled cheese (the "Delicious" w/ a pretzel bun, cheese, and avo spread) along with a side of sweet potato fries. Colleagues I dined with ordered the veggie burger(s) with fries and/or rings (not my style, but all agreed it was really good.) The sweet potato fries with spicy aioli were the stand out to me. Leftovers also reheat extremely well and aren't greasy at all. I hope in the future they continue to add a plethora of veggie options to their menu, maybe a tofu patty or a halloumi option to the build-your-own burger section and some heartier salads. Patties aren't the frozen variety, fries are handcut, gravy seemed homemade, & so are the desserts. I'd say the average burger was ~$15, so it ain't a cheap place, folks. A slice of cheesecake was $7! Fries were REALLY GOOD and did not taste greasy. Poutine was pretty good as well WITH squeaky cheese curds. Despite having a bad experience with pretzel buns (the first & last one I had was hard), Harper's got their version right! And it was soft as well. Found this place on Princess St. in Kingston. We walked and were sitting within a minute. There were six of us plus a baby. They accommodated us very well. The place was not really full. We arrived around 1pm. The costumer service was great, we ordered the #7 and #8. We ordered the waffle fried as a side to our burgers which were amazing! The waiter accidently gave me regular fries instead the waffle fries I ordered. She immediately gave me the waffle fries I requested and even let me keep the extra fries. She was really attentive and refilled our glasses of water without us having to ask. The food was delicious. I left stuffed along with everyone else I came with. We also ordered the fried pickles, we weren't much fans of the fried pickles. The poutine fries were good though. Definitely would come again. I've been sitting at KGH all day with my mother in surgery and I hadn't eaten since lastnight because I didn't want to eat until she could (she couldn't eat from the night before surgery). So I'm sitting here starving and not wanting crappy hospital food, so I figured what the heck why not give Skip The Dishes a go in town that doesn't take 10 minutes to cross lol. I love my burgers so I did some Googling that delivered and came across this place. I'm a total sucker for a pretzel bun even if it costs a bit more, but I like the more "basic" burgers and they had a Build A Burger option, so I thought "hell yes, FOOD, I'M IN!". I placed a order with a few notes and extras cause I didnt know how STD worked and I like lettuce and ketchup which they didn't mention on the order site, and both places went above and beyond and even gave me a cutzy note on the packaged lol. Though I'm not the one in the hospital it was awesome and appreciated that they would be so nice and go above and beyond. Downtown Kingston is a great spot...I saw Harpers Burger Bar and thought it looked like a good place when I was down this summer but did not try it out..YET mainly because I liked The Works and Burger Revolutions but after reading some reviews I went my next time back in Kingston. I didn't know what I wanted to eat since there was a lot of choice but also the weather was really shitty that day so wasn't planning on walking around everywhere to find a place to eat. By using my trusty Yelp app on my phone I found this place. And man was it a good find and choice for myself. I got myself ' The BOSS' burger. You get to choose your patty. And there is quite alot of choice too. I decided to go with the 8.oz patty. and the side of fries. The condiments that were in The BOSS was mozzarella cheese, prosciutto, sundried tomatoes, arugula, white truffle aioli. The first bite out of the Boss burger was incredible!!! The patty was juicy with alot of flavor. All the ingredients that they put into the burger made the burger taste even better as well. The burger was very fresh, and I can tell they put the time and effort to make he burger taste really yummy. The fries were very good too because the look of the fries that they give the assumption you tend to have is it always soggy and soft, but not the case! The fries were hot and crispy! Definitely one the best burgers bars I have tried in awhile. Yes, there a plenty of them in Toronto too and tbh a bit too many of them.. Toronto burger places are also very good as well but if your out of the city and planning on stopping by in Kingston, definitely stop by this place and try their burgers. Harper's Burger Bar has a casual and friendly atmosphere, with 4 flat screen TV's showing various shows at the same time and a huge menu written on the wall. We went there in the mid afternoon, so it was fairly quiet. When I first looked at the menu, I was a bit overwhelmed by its choices. There were so many styles to choose from ~ patty, bun, sauce, condiment, sides. There was also a BYOB (build your own burger) option for those who want to have total control of their tastes. Our friendly server suggested me a couple of the most popular choices, and I ended up picking a beef burger on a whole wheat bun in "Umami" style - brie, balsamic candied onions, soya glazed mushrooms, white truffle aioli. The burger came out very hot, and it was so delicious! The ingredients were very fresh. I really liked the sweetness in the candied onions and white truffle aioli. The 6oz burger was juicy and it was definitely much bigger than it looked. It was so thick that it was pretty messy to eat. Too bad I was already full after finishing the burger so I couldn't try their shakes and floats (OMG, boozy floats too!) We went from place to place, reading menus, trying to decide what to eat, and it was freakin' brunch everywhere we looked. I'm not a breakfast food person, so I ended up dragging my Man to Harper's because it seemed like the anti-brunch at the time. And. Ugh. SO GOOD. I'm so happy with my decision to give it a try. They have something for every kind of burger eater, from gluten-free to ravenous carnivore. You can build your own burger (from the like 6+ different bun types, cheeses, meats, etc.), or you can choose from their awesome menu. In the end, I couldn't decide what burger I wanted, so I went with the $16 slider sampler plate. It allowed me to pick the 3 burgers I was most interested in and give them a try. I now know for next time that the burger at the bottom of that list (red pepper, avocado, aoili, and more that I can't remember) was actually the best of my faves! Went to Harper's Burger Bar for a late dinner, without really reading too much up on it. Let's start off with the menu. Basically, you can either eat one of their provided burgers, or create your own. The provided burgers really are amazing and obviously they put a lot of effort into creating them. I personally went with The Steakhouse, and my girlfriend got The Smokehouse. Both were fantastic, absolutely quality. The fries, which I value as much as the burger, were amazing as well. We were treated like two separate parties...five of us received our food and were almost finished eater before the other four (in the other booth received any food). Then they proceed to charge a mandatory tip for parties larger than six. If you love a good burger then this place is a MUST. The menu has so many delicious options. From something classic like the roadhouse (bacon cheese onion crisps and BBQ sauce) to something a little more different like the umani (Brie truffle aioli) you can't go wrong. So flavourful and fresh tasting. Our kids ordered the poutine with the pulled pork and devoured it. We couldn't end the meal without sampling the fried mars bar. Visually and presentation-wise the fried mars bar was nothing to marvel at but once we cut through it and had a bite there was no stopping us. The dessert was enough to be shared especially after a burger meal and it was the perfect choice to satisfy a sweet spot. Next time we're in Kingston we will eat here for sure. Yum! We had a late lunch on the patio at Harpers yesterday afternoon. We ordered the Smoke House Burger, Some Pig Poutine and the Pineapple Palm Bay Ice Cream Float to share. All were very good! The Burger was flavourful and juicy. The Poutine had the perfect ratio of cheese curds to gravy and fries. Add some sriracha, Delish! It's huge by the way.
