Snack shack is amazing! This is my 4th annual summer vacation to Maine and we always make it a point to stop here. Their newest addition, the shot shack is perfect. The customer service is outstanding and they are so friendly. One of the employees gave us a chance of winning free drinks for playing cornhole! My husbands lobster roll was delicious and cheaply priced ($29) (based on NJ prices we're used to). We decided to try Snack Shack due to all the good reviews. Our experience was different. Yes the service and employees were very nice. But when we received our food it was disappointing. My husband ordered a fish sandwich extra tarter sauce( charged extra .25) when tarter sauce was sitting on the side counter free. He was disappointed with the sandwich also. My Lobster Roll had no flavor and some of it was tough (possibly cooked too long). I took the Lobster off the bun to eat with a fork. There wasn't much lobster on top of the lettuce and the lettuce didn't look too fresh. With the cost of our meal and the reviews I was expecting more from our experience there. read more

We look forward to our first trip to the snack shack every year. Boy were we disappointed , we order the shack attack and bring it home. Suppose to get 2 pints of chicken we were lucky to get 1 pint plus it had a bad taste. Nice place to stop for a quick lunch on the way to Rangeley from Bar Harbor. The fried chicken was very tasty and crispy. We appreciate that they have a smaller portion for small appetizers. My husband liked his lobster roll, but wish for warm bread with more butter on the bread. We can see that this is a popular local restaurant as its parking lot filled up so quickly during lunch hours. read more

Came up to visit the parents last weekend, and my mom and I stopped into the Snack Shack for Lunch. I am from the area, but live in Portland and haven't been here for years. Was very pleased that this place is how I remembered it. We both ordered Chicken Baskets, which were overflowing with french fries and decently sized chicken tenders. I ordered a milkshake as well, and we sat outside at a picnic table and enjoyed the beautiful weather. It was refreshing as well that the staff were very friendly and welcoming, they brought our order outside to us with sauces and napkins. Wow. I was up in Maine on vacation, my 88 year old grampa told me about this place. We stopped by for lunch after a trip out of town. We got in around noon. There was a line and the dining area was hoppin'. There is definitely a lunch crowd. Lots of seafood options. Lots of fried foods and American fare. There are different sized meals, with Scooby Doo styled names. Prices are fair. Food is fresh and delicious. I talked to the cook and he said they get fresh seafood three times a week. I had haddock and fries. The fish is served as deep fried fish sticks. The fish was delicious. Fries are tasty too. My gramp had fried whole bellies, onion rings, and a fish sandwich. The whole bellies were perfecto. Onion rings are good. I didn't try the fish sandwich. I was a bit skeptical when I got there seeing all the fish options. This place is a ways inland so I was immediately thinking freshness. Do not worry. This place is to notch. The place is clean. When we were eating people must have come out a few times cleaning making everything look nice. I hear this place has a cruise night too. read more

We have been going to the snack shack for many years traveling through going to Jackman. We all feel even during the COVID times the quality isn't the same. We stopped last Thursday and got a shrimp basket ,chicken basket,broccoli bites, and fries Broccoli bites were under cooked, the burger way past well done. 9 bucks for a small lobster stew containing very little lobster. Too much butter in the stew. Fried seafood batter was horrible. Undercooked batter was a turnoff. Walked out spending over 50 dollars for 2 people. Won't come back. I'll stick to the Red Barn or Village Inn for my seafood cravings. Oh and there were disgusting flies. 2 hours later still not feeling well. Our poor friend has been in the bathroom swearing she'll never go again. read more

Unreal! I ordered the Chicken basket, very easily 2 and one half pounds of chicken tenders, fries, coleslaw and a buttered roll. Sat there for 30 minutes and could not finish it. Two people could have handled it. Dinning room was a little off plum but hey! It's Maine. If you are passing through stop in. They had a little car show going on (till the rain came) and on Tuesday they start some promo called Trivia Tuesday. Not everything on the menu is deep fried so don't worry there. read more

My favorite place to get a chicken basket! They always greet you with a warm hello and smile.

The fried whole belly clams were delicious the breading on the scallops was a little bit thick for my taste but I still enjoyed them. The steak bomb was cooked perfectly very tender. The peppers, onions and mushrooms were cooked thoroughly. Great value for the price. They serve what I believe is Maine's official Ranch a.k.a. Craft but the Kens tartar sauce made up for it. read more

I really love this place, the prices are great and the portions are good size. We really enjoy the shack attacks which include everything you need. Staff is always friendly and there is never really a wait, most I have had had to wait is 15 minutes. read more

The Snack Shack is truly a gem of Skowhegan. I've gone in and ordered their food close to 100 times and I've never had a negative experience. I usually end up getting their chicken, which arrives fresh and is made so quickly you'd swear the employees studied at Hogwarts. Their chicken salad sandwiches are even spectacular! Snack Shack really has a way with transforming food into the best it can be. When I worked for the New Balance Factory Store, they would cater a giant luncheon for all of the summer staff and I always thought it was such a great way to build the community and help out business-to-business.
