Great Chinese food! The pupu for 2 is always great. The crab ragoons are some of the best in the area. The service is fantastic too! I love all the girls they are very friendly and always make sure our to go is packed up righted. The whole family loves getting take out at least one a week from here. I used to love the food here, when I was home visiting from Texas, I ALWAYS ate here. I've been twice since I moved back and both times the food was straight up gross. Greasy, over cooked, dried out. Very disappointed. I have been a loyal customer for years, but after I got my last takeout order, I will not be going there anymore. The beef teriyaki on a stick tasted only of ginger. The egg rolls were overly brown, almost to the point of being burnt the chicken wings had a strange taste to them. The chicken on a stick did not taste right either. Also, when I went to pick up my order, they had said 15 to 20 minutes. I came there after 20 minutes and my order still wasn't ready and I had to wait that's never happened before and the dining room was not even that busy. read more

Ming lee has been my absolute FAVORITE chinese place in Maine for over a decade. Today I got it for the first time in awhile and the food tasted completely different. There's new owners now and sadly it isn't a good/ better change. Miss the old recipes but service is still good & fast. read more

Stopped here on our way to Bar Harbor, ME. It's right off the I-95, so it was pretty convenient without too much detour. American Chinese food. The house special chow mien was pretty good, as was the sha cha beef, though it had too much green pepper IMO. The sesame chicken was typical chicken balls fare. What was disappointing was the boneless spare ribs - it looked like char siu pork that had been left out for too long so it dried up. Hard, no taste, just... no. We don't like to waste food, so we really tried to eat it, but gave up in the end. Order anything else but this. read more

The pictures everywhere looked amazing.. first time trying Ming Lee but because they were very crowded that day we decided to get it to go.. ordered Beef with Broccoli (got egg foo young not what I ordered), green bean shrimp beef and chicken (no rice came with it which I found odd like come on it's a Chinese Restaurant) and the sauce had a weird sweetness to it, and finally ordered shrimp with lobster sauce that I assumed would have Chinese vegetables in it (see pic below) it was some sort of very small shrimp with weird hamburger and a strange tasting sauce... got crab ragoon which was fine and why the one star.. and ordered two egg rolls (oddly one was smooth and the other one was bumpy) .. called to say I didn't get what I ordered and the young man argued with me that I got what I ordered.. food is not like it looks! Truly was disappointed hoping to find a decent Chinese place in the area! Overall food was bland, not traditional Chinese Food, and poor customer service! I never do reviews, but this was so bad, I want to warn everyone. Horrible food, I will never come back. Went to lunch, restaurant was busy but still had plenty of staff/tables. Ordered the chicken fingers appetizer and also sweet and sour pork. Chicken bland, batter had zero seasoning, no taste, tough chew, and 1/2 of them had raw batter inside. Now for the pork, disgusting, I ate the first piece, I was hoping it was a one-off, so I tried another piece. I spit it out in my napkin. It was so tough, it was extremely hard to chew. I think they boiled it, NO seasoning...I mean none. I was expecting battered pork, this was also raw inside. Imagine eating unseasoned boiled pork strips surrounded by semi cooked unseasoned batter...yuck. My wife had the beef and it was just as bad. I threw away 80-90% of my food. To make it worse it took, 15 min for me to get my check, I had to walk up to the bar and ask for it. Don't go here! read more

I ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce for lunch. It was a brown pork gravy with ground pork and shrimp that were not cooked. I mentioned to the waitress and she said it was pork, no lobster and that she didn't like it either. nothing off the bill. went to pay, told the cashier I was not happy nor ate was served to me and she said " you don't want to tell the cook that!". my husband said it was pork gravy with uncooked shrimp. thanked us and said have a nice day. nothing off the bill. will never go back. ever. never ever. read more

Walked in on a Friday night. Had to wait for 30 mins for a table for 4. Seems like a very popular place among locals - recommend take outs if you don't plan on waiting for at-least 20 mins to be seated. The food here used to be pretty good but we just ordered this past weekend and were extremely disappointed. The orange chicken was hard as a rock, the Singapore rice noodles had hardly any protein, ( only three tiny shrimp ) I could barely taste the curry, and the noodles were so overcooked that they were mush. Same for the lo mien noodles, soggy and way overcooked. Everything in the pupu platter was also overcooked except for the pork. The only thing that was any good was the house egg foo young, which to be honest is the only reason we continue to order from here. I think Jin Yuan is actually much better overall except for their egg foo young which is usually undercooked. We also had to stop going there when they raised the prices and lowered the serving portions. So for now, I guess there's not a Chinese restaurant in Waterville that I will patronize any more. read more

The online menu clearly states that a lunch special comes with an appetizer and a choice of beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki or boneless spare ribs but when I called to place my order I was told it's only one appetizer so I had to buy the chicken teriyaki separate even though the menu states that it comes with it. read more

My wife and I have been ordering food from here for at least 6 years and the food has been outstanding. About 2 months ago we noticed that the quality of their food was not at all what it used to be. It seemed that every dish tasted the same. It was like one sauce was used for every dish and it was quick to turn to gel. Not very appetizing. Instead of ordering in, today we decided to drop into the restaurant to see if it would make a difference. It did not and we won't be returning due to the poor quality of their food. There are better restaurants in Waterville serving Chinese food that are not that far away. read more

Went in to grab some takeout and noticed how lovely the atmosphere was. Not only that, the staff were very kind and helpful. I requested to have a steamed dish with sauce on the side, even though it wasn't on the menu and they did it! They also provided a lot of sauce! I'm not comparing this to more authentic/popular Chinese restaurants in Boston or any major cities because we're in Waterville. I ordered crab rangoons and chicken fried rice for take out (both small orders). I was very surprised to see how large the rangoons were and there were I think 7 total, which is a lot for a "small". The chicken fried rice was a disappointment. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever had but I've never had fried rice like theirs. It was interesting....and the chicken didn't seem like of highest quality. I'd rate the crab rangoons 4/5 and the chicken fried rice a 2/5 (probably a 1.5/5). I am a native Mainer and I have eaten a lot of Chinese Food. A LOT. Personal favorite ethnic cuisine and I am a Egg Foo Young snob. I was a little skeptical, I have favorite places that I trust. Sister-in-law recommended this place and hubby was in the area. So glad we found this little gem! Had to get the Egg Foo Young (super yummy, homemade gravy, get the house version--totally loaded), the house Hong Kong noodles had giant chunks of chicken, pork, beef, huge scallops and shrimp. All that in a savory brown sauce with big chunks of broccoli, mushrooms, onion, bamboo shoots...all on a bed of thin noodles that resembled angel hair. A-Mazing! Then we ordered one of my faves that can be delicious or go horribly wrong. General Tso Chicken. This one does not disappoint. Jumbo pieces of white chicken, battered and fried to a golden brown tossed with a light spicy sauce that allows you to savor a little heat while still being able to taste the tender chicken and flavorful egg batter. I have had some versions that were downright unpleasant...this spice and heat is subtle and still allows you to enjoy your food. Overall, this place is great for takeout. When it is safe to dine in again, this place will be a destination to look forward to. One issue that kept me from 5 stars. The Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was a little disappointing. My favorite restaurant does an impressive presentation with dark sauce, ground meat and 4 Collossal shrimp sitting on top. Ming Lee does their version with small shrimp. It was passable but the sauce was a little thin and the small shrimp was not as flavorful as the larger ones are. Give this place a try. Their takeout menu is multiple pages with all the usual suspects that you know and love. The size of the portions are huge and I love leftovers. You are sure to find your favorite dish done with a nice flair. read more

A really bad experience. I ordered sweet and sour pork and beef and mushrooms. The beef and mushrooms didn't have a bad flavor, but it was 75% liquid with some mushrooms floating in it and almost no beef. It did not come with with rice like every other Chinese food restaurant in the country so it was a very strange soup. Now to the sweet and sour pork. It was not sweet and sour pork!!! It was breaded sticks with a plastic tub of sauce and a chunk of pineapple floating in it. I'll upload two pictures for expectations vs reality. I just don't understand how every other Chinese restaurant does the same thing except Ming Lee. I will not be back and would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
