A diamond in the rough! This was an amazing find!! The wait staff and owner were so nice and made you feel like you were at home. The restaurant is very casual and quaint. The menu isn't overloaded, so choosing a dish is simple. They have an option to fit everyone and as the name says, they're are little salt-n-pepper with a twist of sugar. We rolled it into town on a road trip and followed the recommendations to this restaurant. The outside is very unassuming and we almost passed it by. We're glad we didn't. The vibe is so mellow. Quite a pleasant surprise. The yelp profile leads one to believe it's more or less a greasy spoon ad it just shows burgers and fried sandwiches but they really do themselves a disservice by not including their dinner menu. I don't know who the chef is but he or she is incredibly creative and takes quality ingredients seriously. We've been visiting Maine for 3 months and came to the conclusion no one eats salads as they all were bagged. This salad was absolutely the most crisp and fresh as if they picked the ingredients outback and put in on your plate. The vinaigrette was scratch made and bursting with flavor, just as the chicken tarragon dish I got and my husband really enjoyed how flavorful the meatloaf was. Lived the house made potato chips as opposed to bread service. Great selection of local beers and craft ales. Even the desserts are made in house, had the peach berry cobbler and it was delicious. It wasn't inexpensive but the quality and quantity were far better than most of what we've sampled all over the state. This is definitely a must try if you're driving by. Very nice, small and comfortable restaurant. Our server was so friendly and was great with our kids. The food was very well prepared. I had duck for the first time and I was quite impressed. Even my daughter's chicken fingers and fries were impressive as compared to what you get when you normally order that at a restaurant. If you're in the area to stop in and enjoy some of their high end cuisine and their wonderful "feel at home" atmosphere. The restaurant is adorable. And spotless. Service was very good - even on a very busy Valentine's Lunch hour. But the food was disappointing. I ordered crepes with mushrooms, onions and cheese. The crepes were way over cooked and curled up and crispy- like tortillas. Awful. I gave the feedback to the server just as general feedback for the cook but not to make a stink. He removed the cost of the crepes from our bill, which I appreciated My spouse ordered the Rueben. It was okay (a little light on the corn beef), but fries were also overdone. Dry. We will give the restaurant another try on a not-so-busy day. Right now, I cannot really recommend. read more

This is kind of an out-of-the-way place, but it has lovely atmosphere and excellent service. I had a cup of corn chowder, which was delicious as well as a Thai lettuce wrap that was super fresh and healthy! I will definitely go back and enjoyed my lunch very much. A little unwelcoming from the outside but once inside the atmosphere improves. Flavors were good and unique especially from a small town establishment. I had the meatloaf and it was a little heavy in the breadcrumbs for my taste but overall it was good. My wife had the bacon burger and said it was ok. The patty was a bit small and resembled something you'd get at a fast food establishment. Our waitress didn't write our order down and our requests obviously didn't make it to the kitchen as my wife had onions on her burger which she asked to leave out. But the staff was friendly and I'm sure we could have sent it back but we were in a bit of a hurry so we ignored the mistake. We may give them another shot if we return to the area. read more

This place is an absolute treat 8/10 times. They always have amazing specials for lunch and dinner that are freshly prepared, each day. The soups are to die for and they change it up with a grown-up grilled cheese of the day and a poutine of the day for dinner. They serve all three meals, but breakfast is only on Sunday and I believe they close at 2 o'clock. They are currently working on opening an outdoor patio area as well! Typically, you are treated very well, but there are a couple of servers that have a bit of an attitude and get annoyed when you call frequently, want to give them your business lol... other than that, you will receive friendly service. The interior is a white and black theme with farmhouse decor. Clean and crisp and pretty small, for sure, but comfy enough.l and intimate. I can recommend the fried chicken sandwich, the steak and cheese, the chicken Milanese, and a couple other dishes, including their potato leek soup! Because it is one of the only higher quality, local options I typically go pretty often. Pretty reasonable / average prices. read more

Great menu, something for anyone including vegans. We went for lunch and had the Poke bowl and the steak and cheese. Both were delicious. We couldn't resist dessert since lunch was so good. WOW! I got lost on my way to Farmington with my daughter, and the result of having to drive through a lot of nothing before we got to finally find somewhere to eat - SERENDIPITY! So glad we found this little gem. Very friendly folks greeted us as we entered this classy, well-decorated and CLEAN restaurant. The black/white/gray color scheme was a great contrast to the interesting combinations on the menu. Even though we were starving, it took us a while to decide what we wanted - there were so many delicious-sounding items on the menu, and the place smelled great. After all that searching we each chose the same meal - the Mushroom Crespelle. My daughter is vegetarian, I eat gluten-free, and we're both foodies that love variety, and this seemed to fit the bill. Yep, we made a great choice. Crispy, savory and gooey, and seriously craveable. With three crepes on each plate, we were satisfied (I even brought one of my pieces home to eat for breakfast the next morning). We shared the Truffle Dusted Fries and the Carrot Fritters. My daughter made a scrunchy face when I ordered the Fritters (I would definitely not call them fritters - more like carrot pancakes in the tradition of latkes), but ended up eating more than I did. They were really delicious, especially with the harissa and peanut dipping sauces. We also loved the sauce served with the fries, but we both thought that the fries were much more salty than truffle-y - in fact they were too salty for us. But I brought them home to my husband and, if he noticed, he didn't mention it while he was scarfing them down. One caveat I would give is that the meal on the whole was quite oily, and even though the flavors were bright and crisp, all the oil really made it feel heavy. Overall, we thought it was a seriously delicious meal, and we'll be back if we head to the Farmington area again. Now we won't have to get lost to get there. read more

The waitress was definitely a bit strange though, at first she was just joking around with my friends and I, saying that we looked like children and such, but then she started to try and get us to repent to Christ, and it was very off putting. I have passed this little restaurant for a couple of years and when it came time to take my son out for his birthday we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did. The food was artful but not skimpy. .Robust and tasty with delicate enhancing spices not overwhelming. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Then we got cake for his birthday and amazingly another waitress, Lila a cute little slip of a thing, came over and sang Happy Birthday in a beautiful operatic voice! What a surprise! In town on business and it looked like the only decent place in town. According to Down East Mag it was the best. The spinach sausage soup was wonderful. The Brie Mush Swiss burger was the best burger I've had in a long time! Perfect. And don't put anything on it. No ketchup! You'll ruin it. And the owner chef was incredibly hospitable and engaging. The food is delicious, interesting, with a wide variety of flavors. The atmosphere is comfortable, casual and conducive to conversation. We started with a scallop and fresh corn risotto that was simply delicious. Their take on Poutine rewrote the book on the dish in my view being simultaneously delicious decadently rich and 'light'. My Potato Leek soup and salad were incredible. My spouse had the Blueberry Duck and daughter and fiance had the Sirloin Tips & Shrimp and Pulled Pork dinners respectively. I tried each. Delicious and innovative. I will leave dessert a mystery... but both were wonderful. On a cold and windy night the creative versions of 'comfort food' left us smiling and satiated. When the appetizers came they brought some watermelon for the baby. And a sippy cup! We loved the carrot fritters and crepe and the truffle fries. Our 8 year old was in heaven with his Mac and cheese and chicken fingers. Scampi over risotto was a big hit, as were steak tips, salmon special , meatloaf, I tried duck. Not a usual for me. It was mild and interesting. Not a new fav, but good. We went for lunch a few days earlier and loved it. Grilled Caesar is excellent. My husband enjoyed his, but I can't remember what he had. They have a big outside area. Very big and safe. Inside is not crowded also. Beer and wine. They serve lots of water, which helps when traveling. They do breakfast some mornings, but we missed it. So great. Wonderful, well chosen local draft selection. They start you off with house made potato chips and we got a roasted red pepper dip that was delicious. Panzanella salad with lemon, caper and chevre was delightful. Entrees were boiled corned beef special and steak tips. Both were great. Green beans al dente and perfect homey mashed potatoes.
