At Pearl Yoga & Fitness I never feel intimidated or not advanced enough which I am sure we have all felt at some point at other studios. You will not find that here- friendly classmates, knowledgeable teachers, and a stress free zone. They are building a community for the average person that wants to get out and move but is not expected to be extremely flexible or overly dedicated. Another great thing I found was that the teachers will work with you on any muscle aches or tension you may having throughout your body. Class seemed a little easy at first, though it was my first time doing Tower Pilates (I have Reformer Pilates experience). Little did I know what a KILLER the leg exercises would be!!!! I was struggling to keep up with the routine a little bit, but that is always an indicator of a good workout for me. The instructor was also extremely attentive, performing the different exercises with us and walking around the studio to correct form. It's a small, intimate space but I like that the mood lighting and heightened attention to students adds to the experience. If was a very clean, well thought out space as well! I personally attended the studio through classpass, so I can't comment on the regular pricing, but I believe my class was 13 credits for a beginner/foundations level Tower pilates class. (13 credits is a lot for one class but I'm on the free trial of Classpass, so again, no comment!) This studio is also located in Bell Labs, which makes for a nice atmosphere before and after the class to check out other places in the area. I'm glad i got the chance to try this studio out!

The class wasn't easy, but I loved the challenge. Also, the small setting allowed the instructor to really focus on each of us so we could make the most of the workout. I have taken a barre class, Pilates, and barrelattes, which is a mix of the two. I recently took their barre crawl class two days ago. I am a member of ClassPass, so I paid $25 for the class. I arrived 10 minutes early. As soon as you walk in, they take your name and ask what size t-shirt you want. The t-shirt was so cute. It said "Meet Me at the barre," and it was a gray tank top with white lettering. I thought it would look very cute, but I didn't put it on because I like to wash everything before wearing it. Almost everyone else put on their t-shirts right away, except for about three other women. They had a choice of small, medium, or large. The first part of the evening was the barre class. Everyone got their shirts and went in for class. A woman with blonde hair helped me. She could be one of the owners or instructors, I'm not sure, but she was extremely helpful. She gave me a resistance band and a ball and helped me get the correct form. I really appreciated that because she noticed I was doing one exercise incorrectly, and she explained that it was why my back was hurting. The class was challenging. I would rate it about an eight out of ten, but I liked it a lot and definitely plan to come back. Everyone in the class was friendly. I don't usually talk to people in exercise classes because I'm still trying to build a regular habit, so I didn't know everyone, but the atmosphere was very welcoming. Part of the evening included little sample cups of smoothies. There were three different types and some snacks, which were nice. After class, everyone went over to the bar in the same shopping center, but I went home. Overall, I loved it. I've been to this studio a couple of times, and every time I enjoy the class. The instructors are very kind, answer any questions, and help you work on your form. I definitely recommend this studio. I almost forgot: After the workout, I saw many women wiping off their workout ball with hydrogen peroxide spray. So, this was a courteous and healthy gesture to do for the next guests. Overall the reformer Pilates class was a good experience. The workout itself was fairly basic, and well-scripted. The instructor clearly guided us through each movement, which made it accessible and easy to follow and asked in the beginning of the class if anyone had injuries or limitations where movements would need to be modified. The studio felt comfortable and thoughtfully laid out, with just the right amount of space between people and equipment. It felt clean, calm, and exactly what you'd want from a Pilates studio. At the end of the intro class, they went over membership options, which was expected. The universal membership is close to $300/month, but unfortunately the studio closest to me in Howell doesn't participate, so it doesn't make sense for me personally. In the past 15 years I've developed extreme constant lower back pain and in the past 5 years put on a lot of weight bc of it. For years my fiancé would have to help me out of bed every morning. Sitting up was not something I could do on my own. After 5 classes at club Pilates I've already noticed that I've gained muscle tone back all over my body AND I can actually get myself out of bed on my own the majority of the time. My core has gotten stronger to the point where the pain in my lower back has actually decreased!!! Club Pilates is affordable with great instructors. And Pilates itself is a life savor in my eyes. I never thought I'd be able to walk, sleep or move like I was 39 years old again. I thought I was doomed to have a body 20 years older than it was. Club Pilates has renewed my hope that I can live a normal life again! On top of all that...I actually love going! I've never enjoyed working out but I look forward to every class. My shape is starting to revert back to my college cheerleading days and I'm smiling while it's happening!!! Not only was Christian ( the instructor/ yoga master) a gentleman but a well rounded instructor. He took the time to help me become comfortable in trying something different but a gentle hand in shaping my experience to be what I believe the most beautiful way to move in a new way. He encouraged and lead the class in a positive direction that will keep me coming back. I did poses in an effortless way with his gentle hand to guide me through a new experience that changed my view of the culture. Thank you I look forward to visiting many more times.
