I had a really upsetting experience at Heartland Salon today. I brought in my 5-year-old…read moreYorkie/Poodle mix, Río, and spent several minutes explaining that I wanted to keep his beard for a schnauzer-style cut. I explicitly said NOT to shave his beard and even showed a photo of Río with his freshly groomed beard for reference. His beard is his signature feature and he gets compliments on it almost every day. When I picked him up, the receptionist told me they had "accidentally cut the beard" and offered a 10% discount. While I was paying, she even asked if I wanted to leave a tip, which felt inappropriate given the situation. When I finally saw Río, his entire muzzle and face had been completely shaved down. It looked nothing like what we discussed, and I was honestly so shocked and upset that I started crying in the salon. When I tried to explain the situation to the owner, there was pushback from the receptionist about whether I had shown a photo. Regardless, I was extremely clear that his beard should not be cut and that's indisputable. They did refund me after seeing how upset I was, but the situation felt careless and dismissive. Río's beard was the most important part of the cut I asked for. I would not recommend Heartland and I won't be returning. I'm attaching photos of Río before (with his beard) and after the haircut so people can see the difference.

I brought her here for a grooming and about 45 minutes after dropping her off I received a call that she had too many knots and they would have to shave her down low. Also this groomer, I believe her name is Alyssa, was quite sarcastic in saying well we haven't seen her since August, as if there was no possibility that I couldn't have taken to another groomer (which I did) .I wasn't happy but okay it what it is. They call and tell me she is ready, I leave my home to pick her up and as I am literally pulling into the parking lot they are calling me again. I go in to get my fur baby, I pay the bill and after I pay AND leave a tip, they bring my fur baby out and inform me "Oh she has a cut, there was a knot really close to her skin". Very matter of fact, no compassion or any sort of compensation, discount etc. When I asked what I needed to do to aid her wound, the response I got was, we put liquid bandage on it. There was no apology or empathy at all! These groomers are absolutely terrible, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!

Upon my arrival, I was greeting with "wow she's big"....she is 25 lbs and 15" tall, seriously?!! Then I was asked how big she will get and when I said 18" & 35lbs the response was "I have started not taking dogs 30-35lbs because its too much work"! She took a quick look at her coat and although in great condition she says she thinks its too much and won't groom her. Terrible service, bad attitude and would NEVER recommend!
