I felt under dressed in a shorts and t shirt but the staff welcomed Honey and I need with big smiles and drink recommendations. I went with the Holiday Harvest mocktail and Honey went with Chocolate Espresso Martini. We chose the charcuterie board for 2. And garlic fries to munch on while we enjoyed the ambiance. Both drinks were phenomenal and the food was just right for a quick stop in and bite. This is a great place to unwind with the girls or have a relaxing drink after work. While I wish these new folks have used THEIR family name vice MY family name to grow their business - I do resent the fact that they are trying to fool people into believing the RJ Monceaux family has any association with this take out location. The brisket was above average flat.. Slightly smokey, fairly tender, and very slightly dry. Average brisket overall. The spare ribs were the star of this plate! Full rib cuts of very tender, smokey, delicious ribs! The fat in these ribs had the texture of butter and was unlike any rib fat I've ever touched or tasted! 5 star ribs! The sides were 3.5 stars.. Solid mashed potato salad.. well seasoned dirty rice.. the coleslaw was a little mysterious with a binder that was very flat in flavor, minimal salt, sweetness, and like an oil emulsified light sour cream.. Don't expect an H Mart-level of variety because this is not the same scale; it is a small business. It keeps me from having to order some items from Amazon or drive to Houston, and I'd rather support small business and buy it from here even if they sell it at WalMart. The service is good. There are complaints on other reviews about "unfriendliness", but those reviews are ethnocentric and don't account for the Vietnamese culture. People aren't going to smile, greet you, and ask how you are at Saigon Market. That is not a typical interaction to have with strangers in most places throughout the world, even if they provide customer service, and no one is entitled to that level of interaction and familiarity. Another reviewer stated that the clerk was rude and lazy when she asked where something was. I cannot help but wonder if the customer even attempted to look because there are few aisles and the aisles are organized by type of good. A quick 2 minute stroll up and down the aisles will give you a layout of where different items will be--that's how small the store is. If you cannot find it where similar items are, they do not have it. Most products are imported and you might need a translator app for some if you don't know what it is or need to avoid specific ingredients. The grocery store takes credit, debit, and EBT cards. There is a separate takeout restaurant--a bánh mì deli--inside the store where you can buy fresh sandwiches and drinks. Other reviewers complained about it being cash only, but many food stands and trucks in Port Arthur were cash only and some still are.
