Saigon Market is a small, long-established Vietnamese "neighborhood grocery store". They have an assortment of items that are unavailable in the local "American" grocery stores. Don't expect an H Mart-level of variety because this is not the same scale; it is a small business. It keeps me from having to order some items from Amazon or drive to Houston, and I'd rather support small business and buy it from here even if they sell it at WalMart. The service is good. There are complaints on other reviews about "unfriendliness", but those reviews are ethnocentric and don't account for the Vietnamese culture. People aren't going to smile, greet you, and ask how you are at Saigon Market. That is not a typical interaction to have with strangers in most places throughout the world, even if they provide customer service, and no one is entitled to that level of interaction and familiarity. Another reviewer stated that the clerk was rude and lazy when she asked where something was. I cannot help but wonder if the customer even attempted to look because there are few aisles and the aisles are organized by type of good. A quick 2 minute stroll up and down the aisles will give you a layout of where different items will be--that's how small the store is. If you cannot find it where similar items are, they do not have it. Most products are imported and you might need a translator app for some if you don't know what it is or need to avoid specific ingredients. The grocery store takes credit, debit, and EBT cards. There is a separate takeout restaurant--a bánh mì deli--inside the store where you can buy fresh sandwiches and drinks. Came here to try the banh mi and I'm glad we did! The banh mi meatball is good and fresh. Vegetable cut nice and crisp, bread also fresh crunchy. The presentation is just amazing. The. Thai tea the best I've had... seriously! These ladies know what they're doing. Thank you ladies. While waiting for our fresh banh mi the store has clean, fresh, stocked merchandise. Everything clean and organized. Surprised and happy that they had everything for pho beyond organized from the meat to the vegetables, to the condiments you guys! So I decided i am making pho. Since my younger days, I love the sandwich to-go place located right in this Saigon market. My only complaint is that they take cash only. This place's sandwiches cost $3. Their cafe su dua (vietnamese coffee) also cost $3. Some people don't like the fact that a drink costs the same as a sandwich but I don't. The only fact that bothers me is that THEY TAKE CASH ONLY. NO EXCEPTIONS :( The breads on the counter next to the register are from this asian bread bakery located in Chinatown Houston. It's best to get these breads right when they are imported here when they restock their items. The breads go bad after 1 or 2 days so it's best if you come here early whenever the breads come. They also get spring rolls, little snackable items, and sesame balls from Houston so they're good too. This market also has that fishy "something is about to go amuck smell" lingering here and there so if you're sensitive on smell, I wouldn't come. It's your choice. I should mention that this place is the biggest Asian/Vietnamese market around that area so if you want a variety of asian food/spices/goods, this place is the place to go! read more

Tucked away in a not-so-great neighborhood in the back of the market, I love to pick up bahn mi sandwiches made fresh for a cheap price. They have pâté, meatball, jambones, bbq and combination (I always get this one). They also sell smoothies with tapioca - honeydew, jackfruit, coffee, strawberry, green tea and a few others. If I had other options I would not be going here. I think it's weird that they accept credit cards for groceries but not for the sandwiches. Not everyone carries cash so it's a hassle to withdraw money out just to buy some sandwiches, not to mention annoying to have to do so. This place is small and the people working here are not exactly helpful when you ask them where things are, in fact they are even a little rude maybe even lazy or reluctant to actually have to walk to show you what you need. They ladies are nice, but there is this a young boy that I am talking about. Also it might be just me but I feel like it's too dark in there. There needs to be more light in the aisles. read more

Vietnamese grocery. There is a sandwich shop located inside that makes good vietnamese style sandwiches. These are very good.
