Review Highlights - Snorkel the WetSide

Each rental came in its own bag with its own identifying numbers, so my family wouldn't get our gear mixed up.

The biggest issue was the lack of organization from the start. We spent close to an hour waiting between multiple lines--first in the sun to exchange tickets, then again to hand off a second ticket. It felt unnecessarily complicated and poorly managed. Because of the delays, the boat traveled very fast to make up time. The water was choppy, and several guests became seasick on the way to the snorkeling site. There were also multiple issues with communication and expectations. We were not informed in advance that full-face snorkel masks were not allowed, which would have impacted our decision to book. The equipment provided did not feel clean, and we were told there were not enough flippers or beverages for everyone. The excursion description advertised rum punch, soft drinks, and snacks, but no snacks were provided. The rum punch was also very poor quality, and most guests declined more. While the snorkeling location at Buck Island was beautiful and the water was calm, the actual experience in the water was lacking. The guide quickly swam off and was not visible to the group, leaving guests without direction. Our time snorkeling felt short--around an hour. The return trip was slower and more comfortable, which we appreciated. However, overall this was the least enjoyable snorkeling excursion we have experienced. We would not choose this company again and would recommend others consider alternative options.

After about a ten minute walk from the ship, we embarked on our sail to Buck Island National Wildlife Refuge. Once we arrived at Turtle Cove, the crew gave us thorough snorkeling instructions (including: don't touch the turtles), and distributed quality equipment. They were super helpful to anyone in need. My snorkeling PIC and I swam halfway between the boat and a big group of people, and found a beautiful sea turtle having lunch underneath us. We floated with her for about an hour. Unfortunately, tourists from the other boat were trying to touch her. Ew. [$10k fine, by the way] Once we were back on board the bar opened for endless cocktails. We drank tasty rum punch all the way back to port. Overall, an AMAZING three hour excursion, I would definitely book again.

Joe gave historical background that was fascinating to questions we had as well as information about the area that was unsolicited. We really enjoyed the snacks provided and the drinks were amazing- that Pain Killer really hit the spot- thanks Catie!!! There is a nice boat bathroom on board which was super convenient. We felt the amount of time at both spots was great- often times places let you snorkel for 15-20 minutes and ours were about 45 minutes per spot. The most guests they take per outing is 12 and our group totaled 9- it was so nice to not have an overcrowded boat filled with people and you wait to get into the water for so long. Not with our group- we quickly were able to get snorkel gear and head into the water to see some really cool groupings of coral and fish along with a turtle at the first spot that swam within ONE foot of me. We even saw Barry the barracuda situated under our boat. Remember though- you should NEVER REACH OUT AND TOUCH AQUATIC LIFE OF ANY KIND just because you want to and are curious. You do not have permission to handle, touch, or step on anything! We got some amazing video using our water proof phone cases. Book with Joe and Catie- you absolutely will NOT regret it! (The review giving 2 stars is NUTS... spending 45 minutes snorkeling at each spot for a half day excursion is way more than most tour companies provide- typically 15-20 minutes in our vast experience... so 45 minutes at both spots was fantastic!)

Their pick up site was just a short walk away from where we got off the ship. Our family of 11 were the only people on board and the price was less than if we had booked from the excursion choices. We had a personalized cruise with Catie and Captain Joe. They felt going to Water Island off of Honeymoon Beach would give us a great first snorkel experience for our grandkids, as there are so many turtles there. They were correct! Turtles galore, plus Eagle Rays, remora fish, a box fish and many smaller fish were seen. We snorkel often and loved it just as much as our family. We had the Moana soundtrack playing while having snacks and drinks, got plenty of pictures, and snorkeled in and out of the boat for hours. Book this 1/2 day months ahead to make sure to get a spot. You will not be disappointed.

They picked us up right at our cruise ship port. We saw lots of amazing coral formations and fish including two rays, a sea turtle, and a little nurse shark. I was in awe. It didn't take us too long to get out on the water and get going, and we had some snacks between our first and second dive. I was very nervous, but Jacob took the time to make sure I was calm and not panicked at each step before we continued. It was the experience of a lifetime.

We did a two tank dive, the first one at perseverance and the second at black rock. The dives were good. Now for the bad. As others have already said the boat had a leak and fumes from the engine could be smelled the whole time. It was not pleasant. They also only had warm water and rice crispy snacks between dives. All of which I could have lived with. We had a second dive already booked with them for July 3, 2026. They emailed me at 6:30 pm to tell me our dive was cancelled with no explanation. When I saw the email, the woman that answered the phone said they didn't have enough divers to run the boat. Because of the late notice, I am currently unable to book a dive with any other company. I will try in the morning but the short notice is extremely unprofessional. They should have told me this was a possibility when we booked. At least then I could have made other arrangements. Or despite the low numbers could have honored ours booking. If I had cancelled the day before they were entitled to keep my money. But I have no recourse. I would never dive with this company ever again.
