So yesterday I was rummaging through one of those "junk" drawers and I came across a random earring. I wasn't exactly sure what it was doing there and it did look costume, but I wanted to go on an adventure, so i decided to have the stones tested....spoiler alert, I was told they were costume as soon a they laid eyes on them. Do NOT take your heirlooms here!! They completely mangled my great-grandmother's 130-old gold ring. Charged me $275 and now I'm having to pay another jeweler $600 to fix the horrific "lumpy, flat, poorly-color matched" work they did. The jeweler correcting their mistakes said, "Everything about their work says they were terrified of this ring and had no business attempting a repair on it. They should have called you when they realized it was above their paygrade." They refuse to pay the $400 difference to correct their poor quality work. Even suggested I give the ring to them to work on some more - absolutely no way I would let them near my jewelery again. A valuable heirloom is severely damaged in 3 places with expensive labor-intensive work needed to attempt to mitigate the damage that Snow Owl caused by their poor-quality work. read more

Beware! This place has outrageous prices and I'm not sure how they're still in business . Of course the business can charge whatever they like. But I was quoted $300 to resize a simple silver bracelet and $1000 to resize my wedding band. I went to another jeweler and was quoted $30 to resize the bracelet and $100 to resize my ring. Additionally, the woman at the counter was very rude, and seem to think she was I was wasting her time. If you want to spend lots of money on something that should cost 1/10 of the price and be treated like poorly, feel free to do so here. read more

Really nice ladies (and super cute big doggo)! I brought a pair of post earrings in to have them converted to hook style. They're not super expensive earrings but were made by a local artist out of polymer clay and sterling silver. They used a laser (?) to weld the new hooks to the top and repaired where the posts were. They look wonderful and now I might actually wear them!! read more

So, there comes a time when you have "the talk" with your significant other and you decide you want to get married. Therefore, JG is now my fiancé and I am his fianceé. YAY!!! We were able to pick out a ring with help from my father, the only problem is I needed it sized up quite a bit. My father is in the business, as it were, and he set out to find the perfect person to adjust a size 7 ring to a size 10 while maintaining the integrity of the design. Rick at Snow Owl Design was his first choice. He knew if Rick said he could do it, it would be done and beautifully done to boot. And well, it is incredible. Rick teaches metallurgy at a local college and is very skilled at accomplishing tough jobs. And he does charge a little more than others might (it was $95 for the ring sizing and mounting of the diamond), but he did something we weren't sure could even be done. I came here to have my wedding ring resized, after seeing good Yelp reviews for this particular service. I needed it to be taken down a half size, and it turned out that the diamond was loose as well. When it came back, it was beautifully cleaned and polished, and the resizing and fit were great! Total $65. I'm glad I went here and had it done right. My ring hasn't looked this good in 8 years! Side note: I also noticed some exquisite designs in the photobook by the register and am kind of wishing we would have come here to have our wedding rings custom-made. Live and learn! read more

The more I look at the ring Snow Owl Design ruined, the more I hate it. They took a beautiful antique filigree ring with a delicate prong setting and turned it into a bezel setting. Did they ask me if this was okay? Absolutely not. I am horrified with how this ring looks and will probably hide it. The sad thing is that I inherited this ring from my deceased grandmother and had planned to pass it on to my daughter. I bought the sapphire because it is her birthstone. Now I am getting really sad.
