This is a lovely store. I have shopped here a number of times and always been treated with respect by the sales staff. However, today, when I checked out, I found the salesperson to be very rude. I was tempted to just put the merchandise down and walk out. I did not do that. I paid for the item and left. In today's world, there is just no place for rudeness. Will I return, I don't know. My family has been a good customer of Snows for decades. Always a must place when looking for HomeGoods, and garden items. Unfortunately, the once solid store has lost its customer focus/customer support. Today I was bringing back a corkscrew that we had purchased at snows at least a year ago but never used. When we went to use it this year it did not work, therefore I brought it back for replacement. After a half hour of looking in the system to look for the purchase of the corkscrew, they could not find record of it. They then brought the manager over who very curt and nastily said "That's an old sticker we're not taking it back... no, not taking it back!" I said you can see that it was purchased here and I just want a replacement. The nasty response I received was"That's a red sticker, and we're not taking it back". At that point I said well you just lost a loyal customer, and her comment was" Oh well!" And walked away. So disappointing to see the stall-word of a store go downhill to this level. They certainly don't care about Customer Service and taking care of its loyal patrons. read more

What an eclectic business this store brings to its visitors and seasonal and yearly residents! It has anything and everything one could possibly want or need! Super super clean organized and displayed like an Architect Digest Magazine! Great products & furniture for indoor and outdoor plus an amazing display of running Railroad Electric Trains. Spend hours walking around and dreaming especially for me. It's very Pricey and in many items doubled from other stores.....take for an example I passed by the Webber Kettle Charcoal Grill section noticed one marked $228 the same one I recently acquired for less than $150, plus Scripto flame lighters for 1 was almost $5.00 and at other Hardware locations A pack of 2 for the same price of 1 here! Loved the outdoor furniture beautifully displayed was definitely out of my price range. I assume that those who live here has the means and money to pay for over priced home furnishings to make their homes in the Cape picture perfect... best of luck to those I would have purchased a few specialty items to bring back but I pondered that I rather pay for atmosphere and great food at this location knowingly will be more of a great memory to recall in the future, but you can't put a price on family and friends eating and sharing a great meal here in the Cape with vistas no where in the world than choosing over priced material objects! I Recommend this place if you have money to burn and to bring home a remembrance of this Store Showcase. Spend wisely! read more

Had a horror experience at this store. My fiancé mad a purchase and ended up getting head lice. They do not keep the store or items sanitized or clean. Needless to say very disappointed that she had to through that because of Snows negligence. And here's the kicker we went back to the explained what happened in a calm factually manner, including having a medical diagnosis by a board certified doctor. The employees of this store are so cruel. They refused to do anything to help with the medical bills and to make matters we asked to speak to a manager on multiple occasions and were never given that opportunity. In fact they refused to acknowledge any wrong. My fiancé and were looking for compensation for the item a simple apology would have been sufficient. Instead we we're treated rudly, arrogantly as if we were slobs. We have retained counsel and notified the Massachusetts Department of Health who are on top of it. We hope that you see this for what it is, very arrogant employees who smile when your in the store but once the sale is made they treat you like trash. That's clearly not the way you treat people. People should be helping people not scorching their earth. So STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this store so you don't get sick and regret your decision as my fiancé did. Snows is a bottom feeder and they will line their pockets at your expense and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to make up for their egregious actions. Snows is the worst of the worst, sad to say. read more

I used to love shopping at Snow's. Today however they informed me that they no longer have a restroom. What happened to the full service delightful store? The staff person told me to walk across the street and use the restroom at The Hot Chocolate Sparrow. I'm sure that purveyor is thrilled to have everyone using up their water, soap and TP. Disappointing. I had read some favorable reviews that this was the store for everything in Orleans - hardware store meets Home Goods. Unfortunately, it falls far short of being either. It has an assortment of decor items, but most are cheap and generic. Nautical themed mugs, signs, lamps, etc., all a little tacky. Yet, the prices were quite high. I'm happy to spend 10-15% more to buy at a local store versus online, but the things I looked up (e.g., a CO detector, a set of Cuisinart pans, an electric tea kettle) were all 20-50% more than online. One cheap looking desk lamp was priced at $200. Just bonkers! I can see why the store was largely empty on a Saturday afternoon. If they are going to charge boutique prices, they should offer better and more curated products. There were a few of these - wool blankets from France, some locally made products, some quality brands - but they were few and far between. I feel badly. It sounds like it was once a great store. I hope it will be again. read more

For a hundred years or so, "Snow's Hardware" (Not home and garden decor) really was the "Everything store". It was wonderful. Even when they replaced the lovely old building with saggy wooden floors and stock from the 20s and 30s, it still had art supplies, stationery, dishes , pots & pans, hardware from tools to hooks of all kinds to toilet seats. cleaning supplies, toys, linens, curtains, and in later years, garden supplies and plants. I'm sure I missed many other things. Everyone went to Snow's. You met everyone you knew on a Saturday picking up stuff for projects. Nowadays it seems to be almost empty most of the time. LIttle by little over the past few years they have eliminated almost anything useful . First went the art supplies and stationery, then hardware, then the linens and curtains. Lately the garden stuff is disappearing. The kitchen section is a ghost of its former self. Now, aside from old fashioned cleaning supplies and house paint, I NEVER find anything I need. These days, most local people I know go to Ace hardware which is the new wonderful "everything store". The new management has filled Snow's with tacky "seaside" furniture and decorating shlock with anchors and such, dreary clothes, very expensive rugs, arts fartsy costume jewelry and mugs with messages. The model trains are nice but a bit overwhelming and hardly useful. At Christmas, they used to carry lovely imported ornaments from Germany. .Each year I would treat myself to a few new delicate clip on birds or Santa Clauses. Now it's mostly theme items for your Golf, baseball, cartoon characters, seashell animal, Star Wars or Marvel tree. You have to look hard to find the beautiful advent calendars, and creches I used to buy there. They're down to a very few. No more balsam cone incense from Maine that I bought every year for 30 years. They do still have the most expensive Christmas cards in town. And yes, the other reviewers are right. The new staff are snootier than before. They don't recognize local customers and glare at me when I go in in my usual painterly clothes. These changes started about the time when they stopped offering credit to locals. And now no restrooms? Why not? Is it such a big deal to keep two bathrooms clean? To someone who never knew the real "Snow's Hardware" and preferably belongs to a yacht club, wants a pseudo 'sea side" suburbia life, or just bought a house on Nauset Heights, it may seem nice. But life long customers are in mourning for a unique place that the new generation of owners just didn't appreciate. I honestly don't think this "Snows'" will last for decades like the old one did. read more

It was one of those cold rainy summer weekends in Eastham and I was trying to find somewhere to kill time with the boys. Somehow i found out about Snow's having a train sale and we decided to check it out. Once we got inside we were greeted by one of the friendly sales people and they pointed us to the trains. The boys went crazy when they saw the train layout with all of the working trains, buildings, and model cars moving around within the display case.What a great sales idea! There was about twenty other dads with their kids there that all had the same idea of killing some time away from home that day and it was busy but that did not stop the staff from answering my novice train questions. When visiting the Orleans area make a point to stop by Snow's Home and Garden. By the way...they sell hardware too. read more

I always, always stop here when I'm on the Cape. They have such a weird selection that you find a few things that you really didn't know you *desparately* need to get right now. One of the draws of this place is the train area. This will keep your youngster quiet and enthralled for minutes on end...especially after they realize that they can move some of the stuff by pressing the buttons. Only problem is that you have to hold the younger/shorter kids up and they get heavy! You also might have to dodge a few "Can we get that?!?!" pleas on your way out to the car. The area around the store is super busy, watch out for bike riders (the trail goes right by the store) and inside the store can get slightly crowded with the beach goers. But they have a large parking lot and the kids can run around in the garden section in back. Some of the items are priced high...but if you need to replace something in the house your renting, they will probably have it. read more

Love this store! Some of everything! I don't purchase big $ items but paint, window shades, kitchen gadgets, bath towels... so fun to wander around. Definitely hasna small town friendliness, and it is nice seeing the same staff from summer to summer! Highly recommend for whatever you're looking for or don't know you need it yet. read more

So two years ago, Snows would have been 5 stars easily! More than 5 if allowed. Now they have replaced hardware and some of housewares with furniture. If I want furniture, I'll go to a furniture store, not one with a limited selection. However, when I wanted housewares, Snows was my "go to" store. Now I go elsewhere for furniture AND housewares! Rude staff who had no clue as to what they are doing. We bought paint from them. That went fine except they women we dealt with were rude and condescending even though they did not know how to collect the money from us. They argued when they forgot to charge for an item when we being honest told them and they said they had already charged us for the item They fixed our screens and when we went to pay they fought with us again. They also forgot to give us our mounting hardware back. Rude and not smart. Bad combination. Go somewhere else! read more

This is the first time I have ever reviewed a company but thought it warranted it given the terrible service and lack of response from Snows. I ordered a fire pit the first week of June and was told it would be delivered 3-4 weeks. After 5 weeks I reached out via email and multiple voicemails with no reply. I finally left a message with a live person and after still no reply called back and asked to wait. Salesperson looked into it and told me another 6 weeks. I understand supply chain issues right now and if he hadn't been so rude when I asked why he never got back to me I would have kept the order. Instead he denied receiving any emails or voicemails (even though one message was left with an actual person). Interesting the lack of communication considering he responded instantly when I inquired via email about purchasing. Order cancelled and first and last time I will shop here! read more

I am warming up more and more to Snow's through the years. I like the bonus rewards I receive in $10.00 increments. I still like some of the layout and watching the trains. The have more than enough staff. The flower prices are still to high and yet I can find a lot of what we need in the hardware area. I just purchased a Weber Grill there that I thought was a pretty good deal. Now, I know from nothing about grill prices but when I a saw $250.00 off well I went from looking for a grill cleaner to a new grill. Oldest daughter Kate was the winner of the old Weber that has served us well on CC for 61/2 seasons and frankly year round. It has needed nothing, cooks hot, and has been indestructible. The new Weber....she's my baby. She has this sort of gray pearl like finish that has me keeping this one cleaned and covered in her black plastic robe. I slowly take it off before cooking and she glistens and shimmers.....enough of that. So really like the extra burner for roughing it. I cook (smoke ribs on it), fish of all sorts but kicking ass with tuna and my striper fingers. Oh yea the deal. Salesperson was pretty crafty. He knew when I said I was just looking I was really buying. Entice me with an offer I thought. Wow $250.00 off just like that, have in stock only $25.00 for delivery! What? Silence, I ask him where the charcoal is....he replies we will deliver for free. Amex comes out and we have a new grill. Delivered the next day; fired up for the big party and the striper fingers were a big hit. I like this place. As mentioned much better cookware area with better brands. Need to get a personality over in the paint area but hey if I sold paint I might be like that too. More blue hairs in that store then at the wine tastings at Friends on the weekend. read more

One of the best stores on the cape. They always have everything you need, things you never even knew you wanted, and the most amazing Christmas department. I can and do spend hours in here getting lost in the incredible amount of gadgets and gizmos. The staff is always super friendly. Their prices can be a little high but so worth it when finally find that evasive gift or long sought after outdoor decor. But at the same time, some of their items are a steal compared to Bed, Bath and Beyond prices! ($3 gardening gloves?!) Always new items to see whenever I'm in town. This place never disappoints! Parking can be a bit nightmarish especially during tourist season so be mindful of that. read more

I always recommend to our friends, family, and customers that they try to go to Snows before heading to one of the big box stores in Hyannis. A whole display of PRESSURE COOKERS. An immense, working model train under plexiglass for the kids. Very helpful staff, who somehow show none of the indigenous grouchy attitude. Art supplies. Hardware. Kitchen supplies -- old staples as well as newfangled gizmoz. Honestly, I can wander around Snow's for hours. Pricey? Yes, arguably, but welcome to Cape Cod, y'know? I believe anyone shopping at Snows would be certain the review by someone on 5/15/2009 was clearly written for another store. Snows Home and Garden has one of the neatest, cleanest, and well organized stock you'll find in any store. They sell 1'st quality items for at least every thing I've seen and had interest in. The staff is most helpful as well as pleasant to talk with. With a good selection, much better than average quality, and knowledgeable staff, the only down side for some (myself included) may be that prices are generally list prices unless on sale. read more

Snows is a very valuable resource if you're staying in the Orleans area for any significant length of time. They have a little bit of everything - toys, appliances, art and hobby supplies, hardware, souvenirs. On days that are not beach/outdoors worthy, the store is very well kept and has a large enough inventory to occupy you for a little while and you can pick up a game or something to entertain yourself. Great for picking up that one thing you forgot to pack - especially if you're renting a vacation house. read more

When we "wash-a-shores" moved to the Cape, we were sent to Snows when we asked where to buy something. Snows always had the item, we never had to search as their knowledgeable and polite staff was right there to answer questions and guide us to the myriad of options. We never sifted through their merchandise for quality vs. price. There is no "junk" just top notch quality products. Snows is the most delightful shopping experience from trains to flowers there is something for every member of your family. Residents, tourists or second home owners will all be able to pick something out - NO DOUBT!!! read more

walked in at 15 minutes to closing on a Sunday looking for a soldering iron, All of the sales people went out of their way to find what we needed and even want so far as to find some solder from their own maintenance department with out even getting pressured because they wanted to close and go home, of course the credit card machine at the checkout malfunctioned so all the other last minute stragglers were taken to another register and happily completed our purchase by the friendly staff, By the way the Toy department is the best on the entire Cape and the seasonal displays especially Christmas are worth the trip! read more
